Scores are posted. Untitled 1 Greg and Rick, I enjoyed shooting with you fellows. I keep saying it, but I'm gonna get up to Dickson some day. Good match overall--Manchester has caught some flak recently over mediocre stages. I enjoyed the match, though. I wish I had calmed down and found my front sight before I completed 11 stages.

I believe you took ESP DC with a 214. I took fake 1st ESP-MA with a 218. I left plenty of points out there, too. SSP DC shot a 212 and CDP DC shot a 207. Can't remember any names, though. None of them were Bresson.

Vote against Emily Elliot for Alderman. She doesn't want you legally packing in the parks. From Pravda: Alderman's gun vote plays role in Bartlett board race » The Commercial Appeal Alderman's gun vote plays role in Bartlett board race Opponents cite Elliott's firearms-in-parks stand Bartlett Alderman Emily Elliott figured she would become a political target when she took a stance against guns in the suburb's parks. Her suspicions came true as both of her opponents in the Nov. 2 election -- Mark Barney and Paula Sedgwick -- say the alderman's vote drew them into the race. Despite three aldermen facing re-election this year, all the attention from challengers is focused on Elliott, the Position 2 incumbent. Unlike Position 1 Alderman W.C. "Bubba" Pleasant and Position 3 Alderman David Parsons, Elliott, a 55-year-old registered nurse and dermatology clinic supervisor, must campaign to earn a fourth 4-year term. Barney, a political novice who has worked in sales for 30 years, and Sedgwick, a state Republican Party committeewoman, are trying to unseat Elliott. While both challengers mentioned several issues, Elliott's lobbying for the city to prohibit handgun-carry-permit holders from bringing guns into Bartlett parks -- a highly emotional issue that faced the board a year ago -- drew the attention of both challengers. Elliott made the motion banning guns in parks but could not get a second, meaning Bartlett follows state law allowing guns. Each challenger invoked support of the U.S. Constitution in their position. "That really got me," Sedgwick said, adding that several family members are hunters and her husband is a National Rifle Association member. "The situation narrowed down to the guns issue in the parks," Barney said of his decision. "That's been a pretty volatile issue." Elliott stands by her vote, saying it wasn't against permit holders having guns but about having the weapons in city parks. She said the vote represented the position of her constituents. "I heard from both sides of the issue, but I heard more from the citizens who did not want guns in the park," the incumbent said. "... I don't regret being the voice of the people who elected me." She added that she supports the Constitution but noted that it also allows for free speech and different opinions. Neither Barney nor Sedgwick has run for office in Bartlett before. Sedgwick was elected Republican state executive committeewoman this year. She has worked on a number of Republican candidate campaigns, including campaign manager for Bartlett Alderman Bobby Simmons' run for sheriff earlier this year. Both challengers also mentioned that Elliott has been in office 12 years and it is time for a change. "I believe the strength of the political system is the ability for more individuals to be involved, not fewer," said Barney, who says he's a registered Republican, but leans more to the tea party movement, including a role in the Mid-South Tea Party. "... We need more public servants, fewer politicians. I'm an advocate for term limits." Sedgwick also noted the incumbent's tenure. "I believe it is time for a new beginning," Sedgwick said. "She's a 12-year alderman, which is wonderful, and she needs to be commended for the service she's given the community. "... I feel like this is a time when we need a change out here." Elliott countered that her longevity on the board provides experience and knowledge of government operations. She said her service on most city commissions provides her with insight. "I do have experience, particularly in the economic times we're in," Elliott said, adding that her experience as a nurse dealing with patients provides insights on listening and analyzing. "Those skills help me to be a good alderman," she said. -- Clay Bailey: 529-2393 RÉsumÉs Mark Barney AGE: 51, born June 16, 1959 EDUCATION: Bachelor of liberal studies, University of Memphis OCCUPATION: Sales consultant for Batesville Casket Co. You Memphis Metro People, Yes or not For Charter?
deerslayer replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If the city folks are so concerned over the wastefulness of two supposedly duplicate governments, all they have to do is surrender the city charter. The whole county instantly has one goverment. Seriously doubt this passes. Too many non-city folks see this as the slippery slope that it is. -

Maybe the cops who pull me over are absent-minded, or maybe it's just that my charming personality convinces them that I'm harmless... -
First LEO encounter while carrying Mississippi
deerslayer replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Is this info readily available, or is it an option that must be selected for viewing? Like I said earlier, I've never informed, and they've never mentioned it. My goal is to not get disarmed, thus reducing unnecessary gun handling. As long as they keep not asking, I'll keep not informing. Perhaps an LEO could clear this up..where is kb4ns when you need him? -
Firefighters let man's home burn down over $75 fee.
deerslayer replied to Punisher84's topic in General Chat
So what's next? No fire service if you're late on your property taxes or your water bill? Since Bartlett has no specific fire fee that I know of, I guess the city could use this logic. -

I haven't read all 16 pages of this thread and don't plan on it. If the FD didn't put out the fire due to their belief that nobody will pay the fee if they do and eventually no one will have their sevices as a result, etc., then I understand where they are coming from. However, they are being hypocritical if they go ahead and put out the fire only if someone's life is in danger. Whatever the case, if the FD watched my house burn down for any reason, I probably wouldn't buy Fireman's ball tickets or donate to their causes any more. -
First LEO encounter while carrying Mississippi

Since I got a carry permit, I have been pulled over three times (all in TN). I've never notified an LEO that I had a permit or a gun, and they have never asked. -
2010 MS State IDPA Championship

Enhanced Sissy Pistol, if I go. Still not sure if I'm going to Manchester or Georgia (one or the other)--would much rather go to GA, but will probably end up in Manchester. Just go to both matches and you're guaranteed a shot at the belt! -

Can't make Puryear this year, gonna be in the Smokies. Will see you the following weekend in Saltillo, though. -
and by abuse, I mean something like this: (go to 3:00)

I found this cheap at Sportsman's Guide. It's cut EXACTLY like a 5.11, but is less than half the price. The fabric is a little lighter, though. Tact Gear Tactical Vest, Military Surplus, Brand Not Specified at Sportsman's Guide Jack, No certain type of concealment is required, but a vest of some type is a fair representation of what some folks actually use for concealment (jacket, sportcoat, fleece vest, Hawaiian shirt, etc). Heavy cotton or canvas photo vests also stand up to the abuse of competitive shooting. Also, some folks like to use one garment to avoid getting their good clothes dirty, torn up, lead-saturated, etc.

To you Nashville and Dickson guys who came to the Tri-State, the MS State match is a comparable drive (just north of Tupelo). Plus, you get to shoot in the coolest backyard in America! Ridge Crossing Shooting Club Inc. in Saltillo, Mississippi is dedicated to the Law Enforcement and Military Communities.

Found a good trade on the Smith. Besides, the Trojan hasn't exactly blown up my skirt, with all the light primer strike issues. It's still not completely ironed out. I felt like I was going slower for this match, although I think I shoot the Trojan more slowly and calmly than I do the Glock. My main goal when I went to ESP was to sacrifice a little time to gain a lot of points. With a G34 in my hand, I go completely bananas. I probably would have shot this match 15 seconds faster with 30 extra points down (at least). IMO, there is no faster gun. Fredenhagen commented that there were no gimmicks or trickery--the match just tested fundamentals (and nerves). I thought right then that if I wrote an article again, it would expand on what he said. There were plenty of tough shots, but no procedural traps. I just haven't gotten around to putting it together, and frankly, I don't know if I'll be able to. I don't want to write the standard "Stage one was this, stage two was that..." tad

My two favorite teams are the Cowboys and whoever is playing the Nashville Oilers.

1. S&W 1911 (traded a Glock 23 and some $$ for it) 2. Thanks! 3. Don't know if I'll write an article this year--work is stomping my ass right now (I've been home ~45 minutes) and I can't really think of a central theme anyway. Someone definitely needs to send something to the Tac Journal, though. Larry set up too good a match not to brag. Got any ideas?
