  1. Right, bigger fish to fry and all.
  2. Oh I don’t doubt they are out there; I’ve just never been to one (indoor or outdoor). I wonder what the logic is behind the ban. Many indoor ranges sell reloads, so I would be tempted to call BS on the insurance thing.
  3. I’ve never seen a range that didn’t allow reloads.
  4. I want an M1 Carbine someday. I was at the CMP range in Talledega in August and they had a room full of Garands and Springfields in surprisingly good shape for $650. I asked about M1 Carbines and they just laughed.
  5. Nice shootin'
  6. $112/1000 of .40 cal 180 coated using range pickup brass and components purchased in the last three months. $100/1000 for 9mm 147 coated and $135/1000 for 9mm 147 jacketed.
  7. 1.09 with a 115 is probably ok. What brand are they? Different bullet designs of the same weight can have different shapes/lengths. What powder are you using? Are you using load data for jacketed? Lead/coated typically uses a lighter charge. Also, what gun are you shooting? Have you taken the barrel out of the gun and done the plunk/spin test? Put a dummy round in your chamber and if it drops in ok and spins freely, you are short enough (and may can go longer). Some guns are notorious for having short chambers and require shorter OALs. The diameter (.355 vs .356) and bullet profile can influence the required OAL.
  8. But are these local gun shops certified hazmat shippers? Many people don’t realize that you can’t just slap a label on a box of primers and send it across the country.
  9. I still wonder how these Gunbroker sellers are shipping their primers. Primers are hazmat and there are hoops to jump through to become a legit hazmat shipper. If somebody ships hazmat stuff and is not a hazmat shipper, they can end up in all kinds of federal felony hot water. There were lots of new rules created after the Valujet crash 20 some odd years ago.
  10. I'm a big fan of capitalism and might argue (after consuming a few beers) that there is no such thing as price gouging because a fair price is whatever a buyer is willing to pay and whatever the owner is willing to accept. But these guys are asking for it.
  11. Whoever test-piloted that contraption had serious stones.
  12. I use these, sometimes combined with electronic muffs. I've been really happy with them. I got the blue tooth ones because a friend has some and said his batteries last longer than the non-blue tooth ones. I found them on sale at Midway for $130 or so. https://www.walkersgameear.com/silencer-bluetooth-rechargeable-in-the-ear-pair/
  13. I expect a Trump victory to bring a significant increase in riots and police assassinations. The left is pushing the narrative and apparently believes that Trump cannot win legitimately. I live and usually work in the suburbs and doubt trouble will come here, but anything can happen anywhere any time. All it takes is for another felon with a warrant getting pulled over in the suburbs deciding he's not going to jail today and the resulting shooting could detonate that suburb. I'm carrying a little more artillery in my personal vehicle than normal and try keep the gas tank at least half full. I do occasionally venture across and into the inner city, where trouble is more likely. I think it's a good idea to have some extra food and supplies on hand in the days leading up to the election. Needing them is unlikely, but things we have seen in 2020 were just as unlikely.
  14. I’m a Dallas fan, but I had to laugh. Disclaimer: I don’t roll like this guy
  15. Not around here. I would guess 95% of people are wearing masks where required and the number of people with them around their chin seems to have decreased. Maybe they died. I went running fairly early this morning at a local park with a paved path around the perimeter. Even people walking the path with only their (presumably) significant other were wearing masks. People around here are compliant or scared or both. Biden said it should be mandated that anyone outside should wear a mask. That's just what runners and folks cutting their grass need
  16. Some USPSA Open division shooters loading 9mm or .38 Super to major power factor use small rifle primers. Granted, we are talking about a small group, but they shoot and buy in large quantities. I have some small rifle primers and a couple friends who shoot Open are highly interested in them.
  17. Same here, action open or closed. And my daddy was definitely not uppity.
  18. I have some high acid content sweat or something going on. Blued guns will be orange the same day I shoot them if it’s a hot, sweaty day. Before hard chroming my STI Trojan, I couldn’t keep it from rusting. However, I have gen 2, 3, and 5 Glocks and the only rust I’ve ever had is on the sights, which are all aftermarket.
  19. I'd rather have a gen 2.
  20. I recently got a Lyman universal stand for mounting two different single stage presses and was impressed. It was on sale at Midway for I think $47. https://www.midwayusa.com/reloading-benches-and-stands/br?cid=10458&targetLocation=%2F_%2FN-10458%2B4294967259%3FNp%3D2%26Nr%3DAND%28p_visible%3A1%2Ccustomertypeid%3A1%29%26Nrpp%3D24%26Ns%3Dp_metric_sales_velocity%7C1%26Ntpc%3D1%26Ntpr%3D1
  21. I shot a USPSA match this weekend and squadded with an 11 or 12 year old kid who shot an 9EZ. The thing ran like a sewing machine. If it was easy to limp wrist, you would think this kid would have had trouble. He didn't shoot for score and only had two magazines, so he shot the first 16 shots of a stage after everybody was done with the stage. Man, if my dad had turned me loose with a 9mm handgun when I was that age, I would be a pro now...
  22. I'm 48 and blowing up stuff with firecrackers was a civic duty where I grew up.
  23. Build it! My all-time favorite model was a 1/48 PT-17 Stearman biplane. It was one of the first I tried to make look nice. I painted it Army Air Force colors (blue fuselage/yellow wings/red and white striped rudder). I skipped the red and white rudder decals and painted the stripes myself. I was so proud of it I displayed it on a shelf in our living room. Big mistake. I went out of town with my parents and my big sister stayed at home and had a friend over while we were gone. When I got home, I found pieces of my Stearman under the couch. It looked like it had taken a direct hit of FLAK. To this day, she still won't tell me what happened to it.
  24. There are still some small pistol primers available locally. They're not cheap ($4.50-5.00/100) but they are still out there. Magnum primers are not useless. Bullets can still be found. If you can scrounge up a pound or two of just about any fast burning pistol or shotgun powder, you're in business.
  25. Anybody build plastic model planes as a kid or still do? I dug a model Spitfire out of the closet and my daughter and I built it. Plastic model planes, especially 1/48 scale WWII fighters, are an old friend. I never had the skill or patience of the folks who built the planes on the box, but I still enjoyed it. When I was maybe 10 or 11, I quit throwing them together just to play with and tried to make them look presentable. This one looks pretty good from five feet away, lol. I did find out that I can’t wear contacts or glasses to do the little detailed stuff. Also, the pieces didn’t fit for crap. I read that a lot of the molds for Revell/Monogram are 60+ years old though. This one said made in China. I could be wrong, but I don’t think that used to be the case.
