carry ing a gun and asked to leave hypothetical
The Rabbi replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
And what kind of fun would that be?? -
What I said was a statement of fact. Do you have something to refute it? If so bring it on.

No one has ever proven the existence of G-d-given inalienable rights. Nor has anyone provided a persuasive list of what these are and where they come from. If you can do so, please go ahead. But in the absence of that, you would have to agree that rights flow from society's general agreement on what they are. There is no practical difference between a right denied and one that doesn't exist. If you can make such a distinction, please do so.

The libertarians are almost exclusively a party of conservatives. Most of them were happy voting for Reagan. If there were no Libertarian party the people who vote that way would either vote Republican or not vote at all. Similar to the Green Party and the Democrats.

Yup. And it sounds like you've got it all worked out: accesss to low wholesaler prices and amenable dealers who will do transfers for next to nothing. Good luck and enjoy.
-
I don't need business from people who think every store is Wal Mart. You want to go throw stuff in dealers' faces, go right ahead. But not in my place.

The act of giving it to him is ipso facto a transfer. If you do that and he goes home and forgets to get it transferred via ffl, what's going to happen? He'll be in real trouble when they figure out he hasn't registered his gun with the state.

+1M. Nothing to be added to this answer, all of it.

People continue to assert that because it is true. Figure that your vote for a 3rd party candidate will not result in that candidate getting elected. There is no practical difference between voting 3rd party and sitting home election day. The end result is the same. It is merely a feel-good move on some people's part. The way to get a Libertarian agenda passed is to work within the existing party system. This is how the Progressives managed to pass most of their agenda in the 1890s.

Temper tantrums didnt get my kids what they wanted. I doubt one by a voter will change things much. Politics means working within the political system for change. And 3rd parties at the presidential level arent the place to do that.

I largely agree with Len, except for #5. The media is firmly on Obama's side and won't allow lies (or truth for that matter) to impede. They already have given him a pass on his repeated flubs. In any case McCain is the Republican most Democrats would vote for anyway. Republicans sure can't stand him.

People are obviously free to vote for Mickey Mouse if they want. But FL (and a few other elections beyond that) proved that each vote can be crucial. I don't know who will get elected in Nov. At this time in 1990 George Bush looked unbeatable. But voting for a 3rd party is a vote that McCain will not have. Since the 3rd party has no chance of winning and McCain has a chance of winning it seems obvious that someone interested in not having Obama as president would vote for McCain instead.

Something requiring a license by definition is a privilige. I didnt make that up. In IL owning a gun is clearly a privilege, not a right, because you need an FOID card. I think that runs counter to their constitution btw. BUt there you have it. I'd like to see you travel freely to N.Korea. You'll quickly find out how much a privilege it is.
-
Boy you showed him. So now you are dependent on finding a dealer who will transfer for $20. Good luck. This is why I never buy from CDNN or SOG (their stuff is poor quality anyway)--because they'll send their catalogue to every Tom Dick and Harry in the world.
-
People think Elvis is alive and OJ is innocent. Doesn't make it so. Your driving on state maintained roads is a privilege. That's why you have a license to do so. You're free to walk or bike ride anywhere you want. And I never saw a Constitutional right of travel. As for permits to carry: I am torn because in fact the state constitution makes it a right. But I like the permit scheme. My compromise is to institute a VA like system: anyone able to own a gun can open carry but concealed needs a permit.

It's that private property thing. -
You couldn't write the stuff if you had a million years. The party that complained about "count every vote" has now accorded the MI and FL delegates a half vote each. Of course that solved nothing. Hillary is enraged and threatening a floor fight. They are absolutely the biggest hypocrites on the planet. They claim the GOP is filled with racists and yet Hillary is playing the race card whenever she can. They want every vote counted and come up with a plan like this. They won Congress promising "fiscal discipline" and have larded every appropriations bill with earmarks. They want to end the war but wont cut off funds to do so. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080601/ap_on_el_pr/primary_scramble;_ylt=AgU_gcCYP_ZeJUjyvdE7zlis0NUE

I was hoping to pick up some pointers..

Kahrs are excellent guns and ought to fit you pretty well. I would question the wisdom of going to a .40 due to the snappy recoil. The first carry gun I had was a K40. In the end the excessive noise (that thing was loud!) the long trigger pull (they have changed them since then) and the weight (not an issue with the polymer P-series) persuaded me to trade it.

MIke, I have been remiss in not commenting on your new avatar. Thank you for honoring the memory of a very funny guy and great actor. Anyway, I am shocked none of the Scotch afficianados has mentioned Laphroig. It is the Guinness of Scotches, a smoky peaty drink you could stand a spoon up in. When I am cold and soaked, that works wonders. ETA: and now you've gone and changed from Harvey Korman to some guy I dont recognize. I take back what I said and your momma wear army boots.

carry ing a gun and asked to leave hypothetical

Thats because asking someone to leave for those things is illegal. And OT but I have seen Libertarians wrap themselves up like a pretzel trying to explain why the law is bad. Anyway, business owners can post however they like and make their wishes known. I am going to go concealed and skrew them, it should never be an issue. Not too long ago Steelharp made a comment here about the number of guns in a downtown club on any given night. -
Some people are helpless. They do exactly what we do on the pro side. But not as well, obviously. They look for news articles, lobby legislators, put out newsletters, form discussion groups, etc, etc ad nauseam. Advocating one thing or another is hardly a deep dark mystery. Everyone does this for his or her particular cause.
