Jews burning books? sorta ironic, isn't it?
The Rabbi replied to BimmerFreak's topic in General Chat
chas v'shalom. I never understood the whole "only they are going to Heaven and those others are in for eternal damnation" bit. That sure isnt a Jewish idea. For anyone interested look up "7 Noachide laws" and that should give you some answers. -
Knock knock. Who's there? American firepower. American firepower who----oh sheeet!!

Look for the Memphis contingent to be the primary reps here. What an end-run. The committee has to present a report in Feb 09. That means the issue is off the table until then because they are "studying the issue" like anyone needs to spend that much time on it. Then the committee is going to present a report saying the police chiefs and THP oppose it so they should all vote against it. And then we start all over again.

Wow. You're forgetting how Jews and the Israel lobby hoodwinked this country into going to war against Iraq, or how Israel's Mossad invented al Qaeda. -
His issue with immigration is that immigrants come here and take jobs from Blacks, who are often found in the unskilled sectors. It is a specious argument that holds no water.

There is one truth and many falsehoods. Just because we see lots of different expressions of faith does not make them all equal. I think it's presumptuous and arrogant to think that someone can make that kind of pronouncement with minimal education or knowledge of the subject. -

Actually I dont know why you posted this. I presume you were trying to bait me as I dont see what other purpose it would serve on a board like this. But as Reagan said, there you go again, making moral equivalence arguments. Christians burning the Quran in any context you could bring up has nothing to do with this incident. They are different as night and day. What you obviously can't stand is the idea of principles that people are willing to follow, even where they are not especially popular or might even--perish the thought--offend someone. If you think you are the spiritual and intellectual equivalent of: Thomas Aquinas (Christian) John Henry Newman (Christian) Thomas Merton (Christian) Moshe ben Maimon (Maimonides) (Jewish) Yitzchak Luria (Jewish) R' Moshe Teitelbaum (Jewish) Averroes (Muslim) Fakkhraddin al Razi (Muslim) Abdur Rahman Badawi (Muslim) then go right ahead and develop your own ideas. But somehow your posts haven't demonstrated their equivalence. -

Uh oh. It's the great moral equivalence argument rearing its ugly head. Let's start with the fact that it is illegal to engage in missionary activity in Israel. So the missionaries were doing something illegal. Then the books belonged to the people to whom they were given. Does anyone have a problem with a person burning his own property? Finally, Jews have been the object of the tender mercies of Christian mission for over 1500 years. The Crusades, The Inquisition, the pogroms all killed millions of Jews, who willingly gave their lives rather than follow a false god. To see missionaries today in Israel going down the same path, albeit in a kinder gentler way, is to invite this kind of reaction. If I had been there I would have been among the most enthusiastic throwing the stuff in the fire as missionary activity bugs the heck out of me. -
Ted Nugent is a moron. But he's our moron. The idea of him being spokesman for a responsible organization sends shivers down my spine. In any case the NRA board knows better. I would expect to see Tom Selleck take over Heston's position.

 They just don't have the demand there, what can I say?

Yeah. OK, Big Oil is out to screw us, with the Bush/Cheney/Halliburton crew right in there. They need to tax the hell out of oil companies and give the money to us. Nationalize the oils and you'll see the price go to 25cents/gal.
-
Probably not if the intent was to circumvent the law. That would be a straw purchase as the ultimate buyer is prohibited as a non resident. Question, how would anyone know?
-
The mistake was asking, not knowing the answer. It's their oil, they can do what they want.
-
That's a popular conspiracy theory. Unfortunately wrong. Look at the research money being spent on alternative fuels. Most of it is being spent by oil companies. Chevron is the largest in this area. Another factor not brought up here is the action of the Fed. The dollar has been plummeting in value because the Fed has led us into a negative interest rate environment. Since oil is sold in dollars, the cost of oil rises as the dollar falls. If the dollar were still at the same level against the Euro as it was 9 months ago oil would be about 40% lower than it is today.

Yup. I just sold a shotgun to an AL resident on Friday.

Passengers with HCP and car gets pulled over
The Rabbi replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Nah, that never happens. As for the BP, no doubt they can set up checks wherever they want. Whether U.S. citizens, or anybody else for that matter, actually has to stop and answer their intrusive illegal questions is another story. -

Agreed. They have to be doing something. Just like the guys with the NRA sticker. -

Wont wash. If you have an NRA sticker can the cops search your vehicle for illegal weapons? A Texas court ruled no. Driving on a public road in a common vehicle is not probable cause. -
Still for sale. I will be open Monday, peeps.
