Nah. Now THIS is a real warrior:
-
They have a file going on you, Steelharp. When Dean takes office as First Chairman--oops, Mayor, he will deal with your kind. Today, Davidson County, tomorrow???
-
Yeah. And they ask for trouble...
-
And honestly, anyone who carries openly is just asking for trouble....
-
btw, is your avatar Cleavon Little playing in Blazing Saddles? Great movie.
-
Key word, permanent. Like this, with the "enhanced tactical rust-resistant finish"
-
Sorry, I should have used language current in today's gun world. I meant "an enhanced-ferrous framed tactical ECQ weapon fed with a permanent circular magazine and a fixed barrel for superior accuracy and reliability."
-
Boys, boys. It's a pistol. It's not like its some great theological dispute. Some people like Glocks. That's great. Some people like H&Ks. Thats great too. Of course, y'all are going to hell if you don't use a wheelgun....

Obviously I'm not Catholic and not familiar with their doctrines. So, no, I don't know the difference between "killing" and "killing in self defense" as Len expressed it. Many groups make no such distinction. I know the difference between "murder" and "killing in self defense" and "execution." Murder is a crime committed with no reason. Killing in self defense occurs in the course of mitigating a threat. Execution is a punishment imposed by the state after a lengthy judicial process determining guilt or innocence.
-
So your earlier assertion that the Catholic Church teaches "no killing. Period." Was off the mark. Obviously some killing is OK. (And I won't even begin on Church history here). It is immaterial to me what the Church holds on capital punishment. Again, if someone says "my religion forbids capital punishment and therefore I am opposed" I can buy that. But don't dress up a religious preference as some kind of public policy/morality play.

Dont knock Lorcins. My match-grade Lorcin is a tack driver.

Yeah, but why should we care what France does?? Oh, you mean al Qaeda et al? Do "our enemies" have a trial by jury system? Do they have a standard of guilt beyond the shadow of a doubt? Do they have elaborate sentencing guidelines? Do they have extended appeals processes? No, they do not. So there is no similarity. I don't know "where we are going as a race." I dont understand what that means. If we value human life truly then we realize the enormity of murder and punish accordingly. As for playing the race card on this one, it doesn't fly. Then that would include all self-defense as well. Killing is killing regardless of circumstance. I have no problem with someone who says his religion forbids killing and therefore he will not defend himself. But I find it odd exceedingly to see this attitude in a gun forum by someone who trains people to do exactly that. It seems somehow inconsistent.

North Jersey is merely the end of the sewer line from NYC..... Secaucus? Patterson? Elizabeth? Yech!

Bud's: SIG P229 40 blue $650.93 H&K USP 40 $710.37. Maybe pricing on other goodies like DAK and LEM triggers skew the scale. But the SIGs are worth it!
-
If you want to compare the SIG special models to the base H&K you are right. If you want to compare apples to apples I don't think so.
-
If you like the gun and it works for you, that's what really matters. But SIGs are "professional tools." Smiths are "professional tools." Heck, Glocks are professional tools. And none of them costs what H&K does.

I put a perimeter of holly bushes around one property. The first week 2 bushes disappeared out of the ground. Second week two more did.

That's why I'm not sorry when notorious criminals like Ramzi Yussuf and Omar Abdel Rachman draw life in supermax without parole. Dying in obscurity after years and years of pointless existence sounds like a pretty appropriate punishment. More so than making them martyrs by executing them.
-
Also just about the only 1st world nation that has a constitutionally-recognized right to own firearms. So what?
-
My wife is from So.Jersey. I honestly don't know anything I could get there that I can't get here. And I dont have to support a fascist state that treats its law abiding citizens like criminals.

Actually he's getting the chair, by his request.

I own property in E.Nashville and learned the hard way that tools can get up and walk off on their own if left unattended. Unattended means, I am not directly looking at them right now and within 10 feet. What comes around goes around. But not fast enough.

I never understood the appeal of HKs (other than the P7, which is a fine piece of work). Yeah, they're good and all. But, imo, not worth the premium price HK puts on them. And as for G&A, if Smith/Colt/SIG resurrected the Lorcin and slapped their name on it, they would still swear it was the greatest innovation in firearms this century.

Attention Wal-Mart shoppers…. Look what you paid for.
The Rabbi replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
I think the other folks posting have made excellent points, especially Jason. Today companies outsource all kinds of things. The result has been an overall lowering of prices, which allows people to buy more things, thus employing more people. But even if a part is made in Japan, it takes an importer, a dockworker, a transportation company, a jobber, a wholesaler, etc etc to get the part to the ultimate consumer. Virtually all of those are Americans. One point seldom mentioned is that the U.S. is a net importer of jobs from other places. So we get more jobs than we give away. And still get benefits.
