    AR15 for dummies?

Thanks! That's what I found. Lotta spots to oil. Seems some prefer the clean and lube spray since there's so much to oil.

    AR15 for dummies?

I have a cheap mechanical one picked out as well. I’m only going to be using the sight for long distance anyway. I wasted money on Ameriglo (sorta, not really. They are awesome) sights because I quit using the sights and started shooting with both eyes by sight picture and don’t pay much attention to anything but the tip of the gun or front sight. I can’t say how I’ll do with the AR as I won’t have shot it until sunday. I’m trying not to use the sights though. I’m much faster, especially on moving and targeting with both eyes.

    AR15 for dummies?

Na, I have thousands of pictures established on a good host. No need to upload elsewhere and change it all over. I have 2 sights I've looked at by recommendation but no idea which is better.
  5. I’m a handgun guy, never owned a long gun. Now in my 40’s I’m getting gun-curious. I swapped my 4.5” M&P 45 ACP for an AR15 with a few add-ons and a case today. I’ve never even looked at one, just seen lots of videos of people enjoying them. Seemed like an ok deal so I went with it. Now, when i say new to the AR....... I mean I had to look at how to cock it and make it dry fire. Then I figured out how to separate the upper and lower. That’s about where I’m at. Lol. i went and picked up some 223 to go shoot Sunday, it’s a 556 so no issues there. The AR is dry, so I’ll need to lube it up and look up where all I need to put oil. If there’s anything I need to know to prevent issues I’m listening.... Here’s some clickable thumbs of what I picked up.
  6. I added yet another M&P to the collection and went shooting today. Having a Shield and a Compact, it was time for a full size so i bought an M&P full size 45 ACP (4.5” barrel). It’s my first 45 and I’ve done enough reading to know I wanted a larger gun, plus I’m trying to get one of each series of the M&P line. I shot it today and though it was louder than my 9mm, it didn’t flip as hard as the 9 does. It shot like a Cadillac. Solid, heavy punch.... but not any harder to hold on to than the 9. So the question is was it because of the full size frame (vs the 9mm Shield) or was it because of the low velocity ammo? I shot standard rounds (230 grain vs 115 grain). I was very intimidated by the huge gun and bullet before I shot it, but it was an absolute joy to shoot and ended up finishing the first mag as quickly as i typically shoot my 9 (2 shots per second).
  7. Yes, you're good. That charge was removed from record and is not held against you. As far as anyone is concerned you're clean. Go pick out whatever ya want from the store and grab it. They can see that you were charged if they really cared, but cannot hold it against you. That's what that is for. Your 1 free get out of jail free card.

I don't want to put a second thread up so I'll stick these here that I took while I was cleaning today.
  9. its larger than ones i see all over the place that are plastic. The old military metal case are definitely more sizeable. Standard size before these plastic versions came along.
  10. It’s a standard ammo box https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/game-winner-hunting-utility-box#repChildCatid=4957181

  12. We have guns, but many don’t have a simple BB or pellet gun. They can be useful for persuading critters off your property, training new shooter, or just plinking cans. I like it for setting my sights in the garage before i go shooting. If you own a 22, you can have both with Aguila Colibri 420fps ammo. I made a video to show the primer only round (no gunpowder) that has a simple pellet tip. Standard bb guns shoot 390 to 590 fps. Pellet guns shoot around 720 fps. No gunpowder means not a firearm .

Had a fun day and really good shooting day. Stayed in the yellow all day. https://youtu.be/vn_IPmP_Sxk How do you embed YouTube here?
  15. I’m interested in picking up some tracer rounds and I’ve been watching this video which has given me some questions. First, do you think something as small as a 22LR would be visible in overcast light with it being such a small round? Second, with these cartridges already being dirty do you think this will cause even more nastiness in the bore? Third, these are the most unreliable cartridges as it is, would tracers make them any more unreliable?
  16. Found this today at Sportsman's Warehouse and was curious if anyone has tried it? I usually mix testors hi-viz orange and bright red to make my front sight pop, but at dusk a glow sight like my Ameriglo i have on my Shield makes it much easier to use. I’m curious if anyone has used this particular stuff since it’s what I’m looking at. I wanted to know if it glowed anywhere near as bright as aftermarket sights and if it needed to be charged with light beforehand since the handgun is usually in a holster in the dark. clickable thumbnail:

I like the M&P line so i grabbed it a baby brother.
  18. So this came about https://mp-pistol.com/mp-talk/71136-dry-fire-issues.html I feel better now. It IS this gun. Now, it’s still up to me to learn to control it, but just knowing owners are saying this gun is their only one to do it makes me feel like i can better approach finding a technique instead of blaming me for being faulty to begin with.
  19. Everyone has a different feel and preference, but for my money the best decision i made was buying the M&P 22 compact to use for training so i could shoot my M&P Shield 2.0 9mm more effectively. The “M&P feel” between the two made for an awesome familiarity shooting either one and I’m able to run the 4¢ ammo and warm up for 30 minutes before switching to the 16¢ ammo and running targets. I’m already warmed up by the time I switch and usually run 150 rounds of each. The difference now is that I don’t start cold wasting 9mm ammo and I enjoy how they are nearly twins. Of course they are going to shoot with different impact, but it’s kind of like dating a twin. They have a different attitude, but she’s almost her sister all over again.
  20. .......like this. For man cave, lounge. Storage ideas for small amounts. My grandpa used to hide ammo everywhere.
  21. This article says how it was done https://www.pcmag.com/news/372335/smith-wessons-website-hacked-to-steal-credit-card-details If you recently bought something from Smith & Wesson on Black Friday, watch out. The gun manufacturer's website has been spotted hosting computer code that can steal your credit card details and forward it to hackers. The code was injected into the Smith & Wesson's website on Nov. 27 and remained there until Tuesday morning, according to fraud detection company Sanguine Security, which first noticed the "payment card skimming" attack. The data collection works via a Javascript program that'll run when a US-based browser loads the Smith & Wesson website. The program remains relatively dormant until the user goes to the checkout process, at which point the malicious Javascript will fully activate to create a fake payment form. Any payment card details entered will then be collected and sent off to a hacker-controlled website.
  22. I'm reading, Thanks all. I won't be able to go shoot for a week, but I'm trying to work this out till then. Like I say I've been moving my hands and finger everywhere before deciding I can't fix it and seeking help. Oddly only this gun and it's something about the trigger. I don't want to change it though since it's for ccw only. I'm only doing targets because...... Well you have to shoot targets. I'm also not getting closer than 25 feet because the TN test is 7 yds so that's about where I'm staying for practice. I'll get a second video shortly. I did learn a lot from these guys up near Nashville by watching them talk about holding issues and results. https://youtu.be/hWSK1PNOyKs
  23. My shield 2.0 doesn't have the heaviest trigger out there, but it's made to be pulled with intent so it's safe for a ccw. Everything else I shoot seems to do what I want it to, all have lighter triggers. I've tried moving my hands, pulling with different parts of my finger, loosening my hands, tightening my hands. Still haven't figured out how to shoot with this gun, with a 5-6 lb trigger without this issue. See the video and tell me something I don't know because I'm blowing 150 rounds per practice and getting nowhere. The whole reason I bought a Shield with Crimson Trace was for trigger training (not very useful otherwise) and it's actually turned out to be a good idea. I can see everything I'm doing wrong, but can't seem to solve it.
