  1. If you have 30 round C-Products or ASC magazines, take the spring out and make sure the front of the follower is tilted up. Both companies send out more improperly installed springs than the right way.
  2. Although I hate to admit it, I did it with a round file, didn't clean it up at all, test shot it, forgot to clean it up (smooth and polished), kept shooting and over a year and 4,000 rounds later, I haven't had any failures to feed.
  3. For the life of me, I can't figure out why so much bad information is still taken as law on the internet about 7.62x39 AR-15's. It is like the platform never evolved past Colt and Frankenmags back in the 90's. Anyway, I built a 7.62x39mm piston AR from the cheapest parts I could find and it runs 100% suppressed, with Wolf, Brown/Silver Bear and Yugo surplus. All parts use were standard AR parts except the piston, bolt carrier, enhanced firing pin and 7.62x39 bolt. The only mod neccessary is filing deeper than standard receiver feedramp cuts. ASC and C-products make magazines now and can be made reliable. And don't get me started on the other site mentioned above. Those guys keep regurgitating last decades problems with the 7.62x39 AR problems despite members with WORKING AR's proving otherwise. The level of ignorance and mis-information that gets touted over there really ticks me off.
  4. BUMP because I hate shooting at the FOP and Jackson Indoor is closed until Rangemaster USA re-opens in a few weeks. I need an outdoor rifle range. I tried to join Riverside but I don't compete and don't know anybody there to sponsor me. Anybody know if Holley Fork allows NFA stuff?
  5. Update: I got it back with the GEN 3 core upgrade in 5 buisness days. It doesn't keyhole from the P22 with standard velocity federal Bulk ammo. I can't tell any difference in sound performance but IIRC it was only a +0.5dB difference between the 2 cores.
  6. This was a "stainless" Ruger receiver and silver trigger pack. I used Tal-Strip to remove the paint. I had to wet sand the machine marks out. (Don't leave it on too long. It will cause pitting.) Then I polished it with jewler's rouge to match the ER Shaw barrel.
  7. It is a tie between Miami Vice and HEAT. I at least made it through HEAT in one sitting. Miami vice I had to stop it halfway through and try again 2 days later. Still have not watched it since.
  8. Am I the only one here that has gone from tactical overload back to the baics with thier AR-15? It seems like I try to make myself like the tacticool stuff, but I seem to just want to go back to something simple. I went from this: to this back to this then this to this and after some rationalization this afternoon... this. I feel this is a more of a need vs want thing. I can't really say i have a need for the tacticool stuff, and it usually goes unused or gets in the way. Anybody else?
  9. I don't have possession of it yet. My dealer lets me "demo" it while my paperwork is proccessing. (I don't take it home) My dealer and I checked with AAC and the ATF won't approve a Form 3 untill the Form 4 is processed. The suppressor is keyholing. It does not keyhole unsuppressed. The Gen II core is known for diong this with some combinations of ammo and pistols. It also does not keyhole on my SIG522. They redesigned it again (Gen III) and are swapping out cores for free.
  10. I tried out my Gen II AAC Prodigy on my P-22 and it is hearing safe with standard velocity Federal Bulk and quieter (and cycles) with Remington subsonic. It does however keyhole with standard velocity ammo out of pistols but not from rifles like my SIG522. (I am going to send it to AAC to get the Gen III core put in when (if) ever the Form 4 gets approved).
  11. I for one dig the fact they have an actual handguard instead of the AUG "dong". Factor in it was designed to use STANAG magazines, the charging handle is far forward and iron sights are already installed. All in my opinion a "better" package than the AUG series.

    Your Retro AR

Mine is not so much Retro. It does not meet any military designation even without the Magpul gear. I like the simplicity.
  13. All loaded 30 round of M855 in a Brownell's G.I. magazine My son's AR. Recountoured RRA midlength stainless barrel. 8lbs 06oz. (The sling was bundled on top of the scale when weighed and moved for the pic.) My Bushmaster gov't profile rifle. 8lbs 15oz . ...and just for kicks, my Osprey Defense piston AR (chambered in 7.62x39mm) w/ 5.56 loaded mag. 8lbs 1oz.
  14. Lower receiver put together by my 11 year old son for his birthday present. RRA 16" SS midlength upper. ( 2.7lb barrel currently at ADCO for countouring) S&W stripped lower Spike's LPK Troy S&W marked rear sight and Claymore muzzle device Magpul furniture BCM receiver extension and H buffer And a quick mock up while I had the barrel out with spare receiver I have laying around:
  15. My son and I took his new AR to the range yesterday with a Troy Claymore brake installed. I am not sure how I feel about it yet.The ports are straight forward and seemed to just push the carbine straight back. The muzzle did not seem to rise any. With XM193 and a 16" barrel it does put out a pretty nice fireball.
  16. I built a 7.62x39mm AR-15 based on an Osprey Defense OPS-416 drop in kit. I chose it over the popular Adams Arms conversion because the Osprey kit uses a standard A-frams front sight gas block. The downside is choices of rails is limited. The other upside of the OPS-416 is that you can just drop it into any Direct Impingement AR-15's and can be removed if you want to convert it back.
  17. I would trade 3 Glocks for a high end 1911. I would not pay $1000 cash for any 1911. Glocks are plentiful and not hard to come by.
  18. This video helped me a lot when I first got into hand gun shooting.
  19. Redo the patio job the the contractor my wife hired, and I fired. (still a work in progress.) Contractor: Believe it or not, the non support 2x4's are new wood. Me:
  20. Palmetto State Armory has the best deals going right now on AR uppers.
  21. Well, not exactly imports but Austrian orgins.
