  1. I have often thought of doing reloading. I have a historically been impatient and worry I would do it wrong or not with the great care and attention to detail as I’m assuming it requires. I’m not sure with the 357Sig round would be the round to learn on.
  2. Mr Patton!!! Wow that’s great info! I am grateful! I have some unrelated questions as I am assuming a lot and I have a nasty habit of doing that. I assume your an instructor. I have recently moved back to TN from Virginia. With the way the world is today I have been feeling under trained. With only beginner and advance handgun glasses. I have been trying to find defensive active shooter training. I’m certain our law enforcement officers receive this training at some point. Perhaps they call it by another name. I have the fear of freezing say if I were at Walmart with my family and an active shooter situation occurs. Do you have any recommendations for this style of training? I live currently in Greenback until my home is completed in Podunk TenMile and would have access to Chattanooga and Knoxville areas. Thank you!
  3. Thank you. I’ve looked over the training that’s on the training section. Perhaps I’m being too specific. I’ve been through beginner and advanced hangin classes. That seems the bulk of the training discussed there. I’m having a house built close to Dayton so perhaps I will call them and check it out
  4. I purchased a brand new Glock model 32. It is a compact chambered in 357 Sig. I chose this one as most will know, with a Glock 23 barrel installed it becomes a 40 s&w handgun. No other changes are needed. A company named Lone Wolf Distributors and many others make a 9mm conversion barrel. Grab a few cheap Magpul G17 mags and your good to go. Also there are several companies that make a 22lr conversion kit for Glocks. So for about 1000.00 bucks, I have a gun that will shoot 4 different calibers. I could have gotten the Glock 23 and did the same thing. I'm 100% satisfied with all of my purchases. The weird thing for me is finding ammo for the 357Sig. I know it will be expensive compared to 40 or 9mm. I guess with the TWRA and Virginia State Police using the round in their service guns, I thought the round would be easier to find around Knoxville. I had hoped to carry the Glock 32 in OEM form and use the 357sig for personal protection. To do that I would need to get accustomed to shooting it. That is the challenge! It has been described to me as a 40 case with a 9mm bullet with the powder charge of a 45acp. While I will continue to carry my S&W M&P45c as a defense weapon, I will continue my search for accessible 357sig ammo. Do any of you have experience with this round? Do you like or dislike this round? If it were you, would you carry this round or the 40s&w round? Any info you have on this round is helpful. Currently I have a 20rnd box of Speer Gold Dot PP ammo. I didn't want to burn through it until I have replacements. Tell me your experience please
  5. You know what I mean. Real world training! Defensive active shooter training is what I am wanting. Tactics etc. If your out with the family and a simple wants to start shooting the place up. I have searched and search and maybe I don’t know what exactly to look for. I may just need to start calling around to ranges and shops to see what my options are. I can shoot well. I’ve never had a HCP as I always prefer to have it in the open. I can handle myself physically. I just want training so if that ever happens I don’t freeze. Any suggestions? Recommendations? Thanks for your help.
  6. For sale or trade is my M&P 45 FDE with thumb safety. Very nice gun. Very good shape. I’ve ran 200 or so rounds through it. I purchased new a few years ago. Carries very well for a 45. Will come with everything a new one does. (Back straps x3, 2-8round mags, locks, and paperwork. Plus a 14 round extended mag and rail mounted light. I believe I have a few boxes of Hornaday personal protection ammo that will go also. As well as a black leather OWB Belt Desantis holster. Cash price is 550.00 or trade for Glocks, Sigs, or AR9, AR15, or AR10. Can add cash either way. No rush or hurry to get rid of it. Maryville/Knoxville are but I travel from Bristol to Chattanooga and all over ETennessee for work.
  7. Yeah that is they way I was thinking about the red dot on a pistol. I would have to think about when shooting. Sure at the range it would be helpful. Just not sure with a carry gun, one would do something other than point and shoot if I were ever I. That situation I’m sure that’s what I would do. Going to range this weekend and testing one of there pistols with the red dot to see for myself. Definitely don’t want to have to relearn how to shoot!
  8. Generally at most gun shops you can get a new Taurus G2 in 9mm for 2-225.00 out the door. I’d your looking for something cheap that’s the best option!
  9. This is my perfect choice of carry gun. That’s a bit of a drive for me. Is the Sig p320 your only suitor for a trade?
  10. I’m loving the Glock!!! But as usual those sexy Sigs are winking at me!!!
  11. I really miss the days when no one gave a chit what the rich people in DC did. Rich folks do what rich folks do. Don't, hasn't and will never matter , left or right. Not a thing that matters, EVER changes. I'm not a racist unless politics is a ethnicity. It is weird now though. Used to at least truth mattered. Then the news became a business. Now we only hear what we want to hear. Only listen to people that eat out of the same dumpster that we do. I wish we would STOP electing rich people. BUT......that cost money. We don't spend money on things that we need. OK OK my rant is over! Wish you the very best recovery Jill Biden. I would hate to see another American pass from a PREVENTABLE disease.
  12. Yeah I think that's what I will do. The first time I seen it, I was like....wtf! but I have been thinking on it all morning. I guess I will just have to find out. I maybe on here in a few with a new red dot on my M&P45c singing its praises! I thank you all for your help and opinions.
  13. Last time I lived here, I lived in Lenoir City!!! Howdy!!!
  14. Not wanting to get bashed but Tractor Supply has good Safes. Decent priced. My wife works for them and we get a very good percentage off around xmas. Out on John Sevier HWY there is a Champion Safe store.
  15. I don't need reading glasses! I'm in worst shape than that! I can see perfect close but cannot see well far. I do wear glasses because of that. I also cant hear very well anymore! Good old army ear plugs!
  16. I have used a red dot on my M4 while in the sandbox. Its more of a "reflex" style sight. Not needing much time to get your sight picture stable. With a pistol in a defense style situation, within 15-20 feet most people, as I would also, just point and shoot! Maybe I am over thinking it. In Iraq, generally you were within a few hundred meters or even less but almost never within 100 meters. The red dot helps you find a target quicker. Perhaps I will find a range that rents guns in or around Knox and just go shoot for a bit with one on a pistol. Maybe I am thinking about it the wrong way.
  17. wow! I'm behind on the times! Thats a cool invention! Didnt even know these were a thing!
  18. Ok, I get that times change and technology continues to improve. What the heck is up with the pistol red dots? It looks to be relevant for competition shooting. For personal defense? Some of the buddy's I talk to have them. I don't want to be the new guy or dumbazz to say wtf? I don't see the usefulness of them on a defense gun. I'm sure there is some and that's what I am asking for. Surely people don't use them to just ninja up there guns right?
  19. I went to A gun show in Knoxville about 12 years ago. Guys were going around Knoxvegas and buying up all the cheaper guns, taking them to the show to mark the price up! Gun shows have become a marketing theme instead of a place to go to find deals. Every once in a while you can still find oddball stuff. For me it is depressing!
