  1. I fired a cylinder of rounds across my Christmas present yesterday. It detected all six shots, and speeds were in line with reloading manual data, but there was quite a discrepancy between the fastest and slowest round. This was a 125 grain Hornady xtp loaded atop 20 grains of WW296, 357 mag, fired from a Herter's Powermag single action revolver with a 6.5" barrel. The slowest was 1426 fps, and the fastest was 1509. I expected them to be closer together, but this was my very first experience with a chronograph. My father has built a smokeless muzzleloader. That should be interesting to fire over the chrono for sure. This is going to be interesting I think, if I don't shoot through it.
  2. You ever been to one of these classes? If so, what did you think of it? Was it crowded? I like their new store.
  3. Santa brought me a chronograph. I look forward to using it.
  4. Gunbroker pretty much stands alone to my knowledge.
  5. You have my respect.
  6. That's what makes me feel like an idiot....I CAN step out back and test fire a load. I was just too lazy.
  7. I loaded 100 45 Colt rounds with lead semi wadcutters of unknown heritage. I didn't load them to max or anything, but after shooting about a dozen, they leaded like the devil. I loaded some more really light, and they shot well with no leading. I suppose they are quite soft. Anyway, today I decided to pull the remaining 88 bullets and reload them with the mild load. I learned that while the hammer type kinetic puller works well enough for one or two rounds, it ain't much fun doing a bunch. Load any new loads you want to try in small quantities.
  8. ...and a different bolt face.
  9. On a more serious note, I'm not a fan of Christmas music, but this is among the best in my opinion.
  10. I understand, and was only answering a question. It would likely never become an issue. I can see my kid leaving his in his truck, forgetting it's there, and somehow getting caught with it in the high school parking lot, which is a no no. This would follow him throughout life. Having said that, there was a gun in my truck since I've had a driver's license.
  11. I watched that on T.V. this morning. Man, he's awesome! Here's the gold standard in Christmas music.
  12. While it is legal for one between the ages of 18 and 21 to have a loaded handgun in their vehicle, I wouldn't advise it. I've found that many police thrive on intimidating minors, and most know very little about law. My son and I have recently had this discussion.
  13. You ain't new! Glad to see you back. Merry Christmas.
  14. Glad to have you here. Merry Christmas!
  15. Glad to meet you!
  16. I like the way you talk! Welcome aboard. You'll enjoy the low taxes and lack of regulations here. You'll like the beautiful scenery here, from the pool table flat West Tennessee to the mountains of East Tennessee. You likely won't care for the summer humidity. We call it "weather you can wear".
  17. Sounds like you'll fit right in. Welcome to TGO!
  18. Welcome to the forum, and to the hillbilly heaven that is Tennessee.
  19. I'm currently working on a bottle of Maker's Mark. So far, the best Christmas present I've received this year.
  20. I've little knowledge of SMLE rifles, but I'm guessing that since it's stamped "England" and has a crown proofmark, that it's chambered for 303. Looks like we won't get to see the entire rifle.
  21. Did they have British proof marks?
  22. 303 Brit?
  23. http://www.hud-son.com/products/product-detail/board-master?gclid=CL_u1N6RgdECFdM2gQod7doJ5w It ain't but $56. Why not give it a whirl?
  24. Wind was blowing trees over here yesterday, although it was warm. Today, it simply wasn't fit to be outdoors.
  25. Anyone who went deer hunting this weekend has my respect.
