  1. I didn’t actually put rice in the red beans and sausage. It did turn out good. Instead of beef, I got a deer roast out of the freezer and we canned venison stew. It turned out really good as well. So far, we’ve batted 1000 on the canning. Everything had been good. Green beans, pintos, purple hills, tomato sauce, various pickles, deer roast, etc. My wife wants to try breakfast sausage next. Her grandmother canned it and she always liked it.
  2. Cool! I could never have predicted that.

  4. I think perhaps you have confused the setup procedure for the sizing die and the bullet seating die. They are different. Sizing die: The recapping pin should be protruding from the bottom of the die about 1/8” or so. Put shellholder in the press and lower the ram all the way with no case in it. While holding the ram all the way down, screw the sizing die into the press until you feel it contact the shellholder. Screw it in another 1/2 turn and lock it in place with the lock ring nut. It is now correctly adjusted. Lightly lube the body to f your case and case mouth. Do not lube the shoulder of the case. Put it in the shellholder and lower the ram all the way. This will take more force than a straight walled pistol case. Wipe the lube off the case with a rag, trim the case to the proper length chamfer the case mouth inside and out. You should not need to crimp the case. The tension from the case neck and long bullet is more than sufficient to hold it in place. This procedure is different from straight walled pistol cases I gather you’ve loaded before. Failure to lube bottle necked cases will result in a case stuck in your sizing die. Not fun.
  5. I am pretty sure that is because it isn’t adjusted correctly.
  6. Your seating die isn’t the issue. The sizing die is the problem. I would very strongly recommend you get a commercially produced reloading manual and read it. Also, read the instructions for your dies, particularly the part that pertains to adjusting the SIZING die.
  7. That's tiny for a 380. It sure is an interesting design. Have you been able to source a safety lever?
  8. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
  9. At some point our justice system should be held accountable.
  10. We canned some red beans n rice yesterday. We plan to can a round of beef stew tomorrow.
  11. Do small ring and large ring Mausers use different scope bases? What numbers are on the mounts. 46 and 55?
  12. I concur. A great memento from grandpa, but no real monetary value. Google US revolver for more info.
  13. Figure out everything you are gonna need for the next 50 years, double it, and go buy it.
  14. I’m liking that! $399 at PSA??! Unbelievable!
  15. The same reason I have to buy a boat registration and then pay at the dock to launch said boat. And pay gas tax on the fuel burned in said boat although it has never touched a road. You gotta pay your fair share, man!
  16. Plastic coffee jugs make great stackable storage containers for brass and even loaded ammo!
  17. I will only have one container of powder on my bench at a time. The rest is in a cabinet out of sight and out of reach. I NEVER leave powder in the powder measure. Quick as I’m finished, back in the container and to the cabinet it goes. I just don’t have the memory to do otherwise.
  18. I’ve not progressed beyond a single stage. I clean, size, and prep cases in batches, and store them until such time I want to reload them. I’ll then charge one case, grab a bullet, and load that round. Repeat. I realize this isn’t the most efficient way to do it, but it works for me. I know they’d be handy, but I’ve never owned a reloading tray.
  19. I wouldn't mind the alert were it close to home. I just don't need to wake up and learn Grandpa got lost coming home from the Elk's club in Carroll County. I have a Ring camera, and the app for it notifies us of local things. I like that.
  20. I do not mean to diminish the gravity of the situation. What I'm saying is that an old man asleep in the bed in Macon County can't do much to help it.
  21. Mine learned better today. She went with me to Cabelas. I tried to distract her while the lady rang up my total. It didn’t work.
  22. You can do that? I thought you just had to live with it. It would be nice if I could turn on an option “stuff I really need to know”, but it IS the government we’re dealing with here.
  23. You SOBs make me feel old!!!
  24. What Darrell said. I do not believe you are screwing the die into the press far enough. As my wife often reminds me “When all else fails, read the instructions!”
