The stories of misconduct are nothing new. Like any large metro department, there are now, and always have been, problem officers in it. Simple matter of numbers. How it compares to other departments of similar size, I can’t say. What I do know is 20 years ago there were some straight shenanigans going on. I can’t imagine it’s changed all that much.

I wouldn’t be so sure. 15 years ago who would have imagined that Apple would be where they are in comparison to Microsoft? Google was still a search engine and Nokia and Blackberry were it when it came to phones. What goes up, eventually comes down.

I’m waiting for the Librem 5 (or another Linux phone) to be ready for prime time. Until then I’ll deal with the Apple fencing. Alphabet is a straight up evil company and I avoid their products as much as possible. Apple isn’t much better overall, but are less bad in certain specific areas that matter to me. Still, would love to break the stranglehold of that duopoly.

They’re going down at midnight on Sunday. Expected to be back after 12-24 hours. Parler is not necessarily the crazy loony place of fascists and conspiracy nuts if you don’t choose that. I don’t. I have a nice mix of gun folks, a few conservative politicians/voices and a lot of random apolitical accounts that are fun and provide interesting content. The key difference is that Parler allows you to moderate the kind of content and views you engage with rather than attempting to limit you to approved Views and voices. There is plenty of bad stuff, but there’s way more good stuff. It’s up to you how you use it.

The maglulas are a great invention. Don’t get knockoffs. They’re worth the small amount more to get the real thing. I will say that for rifle mags, the ETS cam loader is the absolute tits. The butler creek one suuuuuucks.

@TGO DavidThank you. I’ve long been a fan of the politics section but I have to admit that over the last 24 hours I’ve enjoyed logging on to TGO more than I have in quite a long time. I didn’t realize it, but I was having to seriously mentally gird my loins before I clicked on the the /pol/ section. It had made TGO a job instead of a joy. There is a sense of lightness now that’s been missing for quite a while. Sometimes you don’t realize when things are bad until suddenly they aren’t anymore. So, once again, thank you.

Actually, it is ok, but there are rules for it. You have to show your stamp to prove that it is legal. Then you can only shoot it at a specific bay at the 600yd range because it has the highest berm to account for folks not controlling muzzle rise. That reminds me, in another thread someone proposed a question regarding the Rare Breed FRT. I can confirm that if you hold the trigger firmly all the way to the rear, it will only fire once. You must lightly pull the trigger to allow the forced reset to operate and allow fast repetitive trigger pulls.

I was out there today with a friend of mine who is a member. Got in trouble with the RSOs as there is a rule my friend wasn’t aware of regarding use of binary triggers and such. Whoops.
