Do you disagree with the ponzi description? Ido give the early investors credit for doing their part by having a crap ton of kids to support the system. Their kids didn’t. I guess I could have also described it the way that it is legally set up based on SCOTUS case law. Social Security and Medicare are each two individual programs. A general payroll tax and a welfare benefit. Yep I said it. Social Security is legally indistinguishable from welfare.
-
You actually are wrong. The 50 years you worked and paid in was paying for the people who came before you. Social Security and Medicare have always been a Ponzi scheme. Like all ponzi’s, early investors come out well. Later investors, not so much.

Yes. We are not heavy users so it works well for us. If we had chronic health issues it would not be a good option.
-
We are actually members of a private clinic in Jackson that offers a prepaid number of visits and discounts on labs another services.

This is what I would have if it were a real option. It is exactly what is reasonable for a young-early middle aged self employed person in reasonably good health. Instead the idea is to rape us for all we are worth to subsidize coverage we don’t want or need. As an example, my wife has had her tubes tied and my daughter is 9 years old. We have no need or want for maternity coverage, but must carry it in any insurance plan. It’s stupid.

I don’t have insurance. For me to have insurance for my family last year would have been over $26k in premiums plus deductible.
-
For as much as I hate the idea, I’m pretty well convinced that medicare for all is inevitable for that reason.

Haha. Retirement isn’t going to happen for me. I’m gonna work until I’m dead.

Coffee County crime spree
Chucktshoes replied to White Goodman's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
****To be on the actual topic**** I too am glad the murderer is dead. These stories are why I carry. The murderer’s death, the effectiveness of the legal system, and all the other issues are secondary to the fact that a wife and child are now without a husband and father. I can’t be a provider and a protector for my family if I’m not alive. That’s not to blame the victim, but a self reminder to fight with all I’ve got to be there for them. -
Coffee County crime spree

Most forensic “science” isn’t science. It’s complete bunk. In fact, it is more and more accepted that the only reliable, repeatable science is DNA. Pretty much everything else is junk. I only bring this up to emphasize the point that any DA or Judge that denies defendants access to DNA evidence from old crimes is not interested in justice or actually finding guilty parties, only upholding convictions. This is a pretty decent article that delves into the problems with the fanciful imaginary world of forensics. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/03/reversing-legacy-junk-science-courtroom -
Update, delivery made this morning. Nashville, y’all still got some work to do about your drainage issues.
-
While I was at my daughter’s birthday party my codriver was attempting to deliver a load at a warehouse near the Nashville airport. In the middle of the unload they stopped and told him they were all going home because of the flooding on the property. Before he could get the trailer sealed back up and rolling the water was above his knee. Hoping there is still a facility to deliver the rest of the product to tomorrow.

I think this writing has been on the wall for a while.

Awesome. Congrats.

I’m trying. I’ve been buying plenty of guns and gear. I can’t do it all by myself though.

As a general rule, I do my best to avoid interaction with pendejos.

I like Texas, but they ain’t all they’re cracked up to be.

Stop the Bleed Knowing how to patch holes is as important (if not more so) than making them.

While I’ve still been purchasing ammo (at reasonable prices because I refuse to pay panic prices) I’ve also picked up a bunch of target stands, shot timer, a SIRT gun, dry fire mag, and some electronic targets because I’m going to get serious about my shooting. It’s past time to stop shooting and start training. I’m going to make the ammo I do use count for more than turning money into noise.

Breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth. I find neck gaiters to be the most comfortable face covering. I’ve got four different ones right now that I rotate through. It helps cut down on odors and what not from a dirty face covering. Always having the same one and not washing it is just bad hygiene.

I’m really not big on the masks as a general rule. I have serious doubts about their stated utility. That said, I’m loving taking advantage of not having my face on every security camera and available for every piece of facial recognition software used on those videos. I generally walk around with my face and head covered up like I’m about to rob a bank. It’s kind of fun. Edited to add: See? Told ya I look ready to rob a bank.

Never Thought I'd Do it!

They have several different levels of coverage. I went with the premium option as the odds are if I have to make use of the service, it will be in a state other than TN. Some of those states could end up being very, very expensive as they are non-permissive environments. I also purchased coverage for my wife at a very discounted rate by bundling it with mine. -

I went back and forth on it for a while. After the events of the last couple months, and the fact that I travel all 48 CONUS states, I decided that it would be a wise idea to get some carry insurance. Ultimately I decided to go with USCCA.
