  1. Kimber now owns Meprolight fwiw. I've never owned trij's and my mep's have never failed. I'd like to try some tru-glo, heine, novak...heck i'd like to try them all just to see but mep's is what i've got and i'd recommend them.
  2. Me = not racist, don't have a problem with the confederate flag, but i'm also white. That being said, I don't think it is right to keep the boy out, but in all fairness...they probably saved him quite a butt whoopin, just sayin. And +1 to red's statement, i'm sure the military isn't exactly in the 'know' %100 on gang affiliated tattoos. I mean really are they gonna turn away a guy with Irish heritage because he's got a shamrock on him somewhere (shamrocks are often associated with aryan bro. etc.)?
  3. I think it all depends, I mean a $300-400 shoei or arai has the same amount of protective features as a $120 shoei etc...
  4. gottsta have the onions and I second the Nathans dog, I prefer beef and especially Nathans!
  5. GSSF will be having a match at Volunteer on June 5th and 6th. I should be going to it after the ORSA IDPA event on the 5th, hopefully i'll make it by registration deadline anyways. Hopefully i'll get lucky and win a gun! Anyone else gonna make it out?
  6. Last time I wrecked a motorcycle I was probably going about 20mph. I swerved off the road to avoid hitting a jeep that had pulled out in front of me (it was CLOSE!) I was in a jam considering there was a barbed wire fence inches to my left and a pavement step-up inches to my right and the grass was about to end with a drain pipe under a driveway. The ground was angled towards the fence so I couldn't slam on my brakes. I thought I was going slow enough to jump the curb and get back on the road... I thought wrong. Didn't think I hit the ground that hard, but apparently when I got up I was pretty beligerent (fight or flight signs of a concussion) because I talked to the ems personel that I knew some time later (I was an emt at the time) and they said I was an a**. Would it have killed me... no idea, but judging by my helmet that was basically split in half it would have hurt like hell at least. I agree a headfirst collision going 65mph you have no chance regardless. But watch a superbike race or something, if you don't go head first your still going to hit your head eventually, my vote is for the helmet. Save you from some nasty road rash at least.
  7. saw em onstage in one of those vids...
  8. meh, I always suck when you play with me anyways:D
  9. I don't know really, their all my favorite for the their particular purpose. Those being: competition, hd, edc, and backup.
  10. Mines boring, back in the early nineties when I was introduced to aol I just wanted to use my name and it suggested jeremy155 so thats what its always been until I joined a motorcycle forum a half dozen years ago and added the rr cause I rode a honda.
  11. Sweet, Erik actually called me this afternoon to confirm/remind me!
  12. Its great, not as big grip wise as I thought it would be based on internet critics, i'm used to the glock grip though. I'm even thinking of putting the arched backstrap on it. Shoots awesome, blew out one of the 3 or 4" shoot n c's at 10 yards with it the first time out, which is good enough for me!
  13. So, back about 7 or 8 years ago I bought a springfield xd40. Didn't have it very long and sold it to buy a glock 23. Ended up selling that too. Recently i've sold my only 1911 (Taurus PT1911) and my Kel-Tec PF9. Someday I will buy another 1911 but I have no idea which one I would want as of right now and I don't have 2k laying around anyways. This is what I have now (handgun wise)... top to bottom: Glock 34, FNP-45 USG, Glock 19, and Sig P238. Just took a new group pic of the handguns and decided to share.
  14. There is a scrolling banner on top of the page that says e-mail Mike if you want to shoot a classifier. They never had the date posted on the site, even though theres that spot that says 'Next IDPA classifier will be held on:' I just sent him an e-mail and he said their having one this Saturday. Don't know how many people they need to hold one or how many he has.
  15. Me and grumpy.old.1 should both be there, i'll be sporting the glock 34 and shooting badly with it!
  16. ^+1 compare ergos to a couple other popular 9mm pistols. See if a range has an springfield xd, smith & wesson m&p, and a glock 19. If you only want 'one' glock the 19 is the way to go for 9mm. Of course you said you've shot the glocks and if your comfortable with their feel then I wouldn't talk you out of it. Their my favorite, I have a 19 and a 34.
  17. WOW! I don't remember having to wait that long back in '02.
  18. i'm pretty sure that is true but 'Marlin' won't be going anywhere I don't think. Whoever owns them, fn or remington will probably still make them. I thought I read that in my 1st Freedom mag or I may have seen it on here.
  19. yeah, no thanks, that was while I still had a job!
  20. bringing this thread back from the dead. Finally sent that camera off, haven't been in a big hurry though because I ran out and bought her a d5000 and bought her another lense. Its been keeping her happy but she had still been raggin on me about sending the d60 in so she could have a 'My husband touched my camera and it broke' backup:D
  21. dang, I have a 5.11 medical bag about that size that has the straps to attach to my molle bag but it doesn't have webbing on it. I like yours, it is laid out much better than mine.
  22. close to the house I grew up in there is a trail that runs along waldens ridge. On one side is dutch valley road, on the other is briceville. About a mile of the trail is actually a gravel road that dead ends at a fire watch tower. A singletrack trail continues on behind the tower. This trail is literally on a ridgetop, and a few miles behind the firetower there is a bomb shelter (at least thats what i've been told it is) professionally made out of concrete. When I first discovered it I almost fell in it. There is a rectangular hole that is there intentionally, like a small skylight on the actual trail. If you go off the trail down the ridgeface a few feet you find the door. Its completely wrecked on the inside but there were a couple rooms a remnants of a bathroom (pieces of a sink and toilet busted up on the floor). I thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I've got some pics somewhere i'll try and find to scan. http://www.cs.utk.edu/~dunigan/mtnbike/walden.html
  23. Don't want to hijack this fine thread, but care to elaborate just a tad... I'm not a big fan of taurus but I do own a PT1911 that is a fabulous shooter and everyone I know that has one loves it. Finish sucks, thats why I had you guys send it out for meloniting. Other than that the fit is awesome, accuracy is phenomonal. I'd say I know close to a dozen people or so that have the same opinion about them (the pt1911). People I know that own several taurus revolvers love them as well. Don't know anybody that likes a taurus polymer guns though and their pretty ugly imo and have heard multiple statements from people about reliability of those models.
