  1. Not to sound inflammatory, but honestly, if you're that sensitive to the recoil, maybe a .45-70 isn't for you. Sorry man.
  2. Also, look in the Lyman book for 'Trapdoor' loads. They're vastly reduced over the 1895 loadings & totally safe.
  3. Try 10-12 gn of Unique under that 300gn bullet. You'll need a little puff of dacron to hold it in place, but it'll feel like a .45 colt. 12gn of Trailboss under the same bullet (no filler needed) will feel like a .45 Schofield!
  4. I do. I actually load a very light, subsonic load for my long range gun & my trapdoor. It does shoot a very heavy bullet, 510gn, but I'm only sending it around 1100fps Let me dig out my notes & I'll get back to you.....
  5. Real simple, welted slip sheath (I did wet firm this'n, being so small) with a 1½" clip The clip isn't perfect for inside-the-pocket carry, but it'll do. Plus I can OWB it or attach it to a pack belt.
  6. Being that other than my Benchmade mini-grip, every knife I've used in the last 20 years I've made myself I find it difficult to actually pay cash-money for a new fixed blade. But this wee bastard had me intrigued. Actual G10 scales, decent (7Cr17mov) steel, handy-dandy size & $20? Yeah, I'll give 'er a punt..... https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0773CN9LR?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title I have to say, I am BEYOND impressed! The primary & secondary bevel are clean, crisp & precise. Plunge is perfect, scale fit & finish is flawless & the edge has actually been properly honed. Usually there's a wire edge to one side of the secondary, but this thing is mirror smooth & literally shaving sharp, right out of the package. I need to whip up a pocket sheath (I cannot abide a 'neck' knife) but initial impressions are right up there......
  7. I think it's been altered from factory specifications, invalidating any warranty (specific or implied) I'm not positive, but I'm reeeasonably sure.....
  8. I'm guessing carpet edging strip.....
  9. I'm not 100% sure the grade 5 hex bolts are factory original.....
  10. Model 53. Winchester mod70 made for Sears in the sixties & seventies.
  11. "Nnnnnnnnno. No I can't. Did you get this off of a dead a Somalian poacher?" To be fair, it is fixable. I mean, not by me (safety doesn't work, bore looks like mice have been using it as a bathroom since '79, firing pin is broken, missing bottom metal & all internals & there's that stock) and it really wouldn't be financially viable to do it, but it 'could' be done.
  12. ....take my rifle to the range & sight it in for me? I just got it given?"
  13. Many thanks to @alleycat72 for the lower! All told, I have receipts totaling $376 including the 2 mags, scope, mount & foregrip Lots of judicious shopping around, waiting for deals & eBay netted me this & I'm tickled pink!
  14. Y'all that have them fitted on your ARs....does it make a difference in either comfort or accuracy? Which did you choose & why? I'm kinda on the fence about installing one on mine & I don't wanna go tossing money around, all willy-nilly like.....
  15. https://clarksville.craigslist.org/boa/d/clarksville-gheenoe/6799465848.html Find a jetski trailer for around $300 & you're set!
  16. @ShaggyRS6 Try looking around for a used Gheenoe. I'm currently in the build phase of an old Classic custom I'm rigging purely as a flats boat. They can be picked up for around a grand, on a trailer & on a 13' or 15'4" highsider a 5-10hp outboard will get you around 20mph. They're ridiculously stable too, for a small skiff.
  17. I was really hoping they got into it, but whether it happened farther out, or if The white was just giving us a flyby I couldn't say. That was the only photo we got of them together
  18. Half caught him again this morning, apparently having an argument with his buddy......
  19. These are the best of the photos from a cursory glance, but I got over 300! This HAS to be my favorite though!
  20. Not quite....Albino means the body produces no melonin & therefore there is zero pigmentation Leucism is simply a pure, or mostly pure white color variant. There's still eye, beak & leg color where an albino would be pink in those areas.
  21. He's back! Right now, right in front of the camera!!!
  22. I've resecured the trail cam & I'm reeeeeally hoping he comes back!
  23. Long story short, this particular hawk has been visiting us for just over a year. I've spent all that time trying to get a decent photo & this ain't it......yet. It's managed to thwart 4 different trail cameras & me sitting for 4 straight, 14 hour days in a blind. I dumped a deer carcass out in one of my fields a few days ago with hopes of getting some trail cam photos of coyotes & lo and behold, guess who shows up the morning right AFTER the wind blew my trail camera off target...... This was taken from my dining room window, with my phone, through 10x binos
