  1. They are also really close on getting enough signatures on petitions to force an overturn the law vote on the next ballot. I expected Morse going down but taking down Giron is truly fantastic. I love that she got crushed... I wish I could send more money to support the next effort but all my available funds are going to Joe Carr.
  2. Looks like our brothers and sisters in Colorado are sending a strong message. This despite the enormous amount of money that hag bloomyburg spent. Also reports of college students bringing bags of early ballots in and she is still losing...   one can only hope that this is the beginning...
  3. 27pints of salsa today... It was the project that would not go away...
  4. Want some thing to take the chill off if we lose power for more than a few days. Need tilt switch etc... Thanks Mark
  5. What's Obama thinking? Must read TelePrompTer... Line 1: pee your pants Line 2: Blink! Pretty sure that is in his wheelhouse.
  6. Among the many things Walmart is not scared of are unions and the .gov. Walmart has the cash to go toe to toe for as long as it takes. Many unions have had reputations for thuggery. Let them try to get between the core group at Walmart and their profits. Those Arkansas hillbillies will teach them a harsh lesson about survival. You know who respects Walmart? The Chinese gvmt. That should tell you something because there isn't much in the world that make the Chinese think about consequences... Mark
  7. Good reading there JAB. Speaking of smoking things, ever smoke veggies? I quarter a bunch of tomatoes and onions and anything else I want to be in salsa and smoke it real low for a couple of hours and then make salsa and can it. I just have to remember to control the amount of peppers in it. If I make it just for me it ends up kind of nuclear hot... Mark
  8. Man, I just finished canning up about 8 gallons of chicken stock. We use it in everything.   I can raw chicken. Have thought about canning smoked chicken but have not gotten around to it. I usually can legs and thighs. The first couple of cans were experiments then I did a bunch to put away.   After I let the chicken sit around I finally opened it to see how it did. Surprisingly it tasted like... canned chicken. And by that I mean exactly like canned chicken you buy in the store. My wife was skeptical and wouldn't try it for about 3 days until she saw I didn't die...   Probably the most experimental I've gotten is canning ground turkey. I cooked it with taco seasoning. It is really good and an easy way to have mexican for dinner during the week.   I'm curious to see how the pork works out. The nervous nellies that live in our world today get all flustered when you talk about canning pork. I think it should work.   Mark
  9. South Street and The Tavern are a couple  of my favorites   Mark
  10. I know, right???
  11. I'm still firmly in...   Mark A
  12. Good looking rifle. Hopefully it will treat you as well as my M&P has.   Mark
  13. Last year when I turned 50 my wife surprised me with an VTAC M&P 15. That gun has quickly become my most favorite gun of all time. I've been wanting something in .308 and when I saw the M&P 10 I knew I wanted one. My goal is to build it as closely as possible as the VTAC 15. To that end I've acquired the rifle, a Giselle trigger, Leupold 3x9 scope in a LaRue mount, an adaptor to that mount that allows me to mount the docter optic and the docter optic itself. I still need the Troy Ind rail system, a magpul grip and I haven't decided on which one but some type of stock. For me, this weapon is a contact to 200 yard weapon. The Leupold will work well for distance stuff and the docter optic mounted slightly off center will help in the 0-25 yard department. I hope to have it complete by the end of the year. Mark.
  14. Well... That didn't start like I thought it would. The "bullet holes" are part of the graphics on the box. You were supposed to think: a docter optic? I wonder what shiny toy he is putting that on? When I get home I will flesh out the rest of this. Mark
  15. Since my reloading area is above my garage and unconditioned I don't usually get to do much during the summer months. It was so cool this morning I was able to get a few hours in to knock out some 223. Was able to load (450) 55 gr training/ range ammo, (250) 62gr tsx and (150)  70 gr tsx.   That will have to hold me for a bit as I get back to brass prep which I can do in my office where it is nice and comfy.   Mark
  16. Tricky, we are just south of downtown Franklin. Using raised beds and pretty much all new dirt this year. I have a lot of large trees and really need 100% sunny days to get enough sun into the area where the garden is. With all the rain and all the partly cloudy days we've had I just don't think I'm getting enough sun.   As a last ditch effort we bought a couple of potted peppers from the hardware store. They haven't grown a bunch either.   Everything else has done great this year. Tomatoes are the tallest they've ever been, all the various lettuces and cabbage has done great and I've got about 60 carrots that are close to being ready.   I have a close friend that lives about 2 blocks south of me. His garden is producing almost the exact same way. I think we just got a ton of extra cloudy days in our area.   Mark
  17. Some of them are so small it is funny. I am seriously thinking of potting them and bringing them in for the winter to give them a shot at next summer Mark
  18. My peppers are never going to make it...
  19. Tobashadow, many thanks...   Mark
  20. Apparently my stupid is extra strong this morning... A while back I read a 2-3 book series set in Middle TN that featured the TN National Guard moving to a state park and setting up there and eventually fighting in place.   I thought I read it on my iPad but it is not in my Kindle list. Can anyone tell me the name of the series? I want to see if there are any new books.   thanks in advance for any help, Mark
  21. Usually I roast garlic as needed but I bought a big bag of already peeled garlic at Sams a couple of weeks ago intending to pickle and can it. I forgot and ran out of time so I spread it out on a flat pan with a little olive oil and roasted the entire bag. Once it was done I popped it into a food processor and crushed it.   From there I spooned it into some silicone ice cube trays and froze it into small chunks. The chunks are now in a freezer baggie to be used as needed.   I use those ice cube trays all the time. In the last few weeks I made a big batch of pesto and froze it in cubes. They are perfect for cooking a small amount of pasta.   Also, I smoked a big turkey a couple of weeks back. I made extra dressing and gravy. I vacuum pack lunch portions of turkey and dressing and stick one gravy ice cube in there. Then my wife or I have easily heated turkey & dressing with a taste of gravy for lunch anytime we need it.   Mark
  22. Shucked and trimmed 48 ears of corn. Took a little longer than I thought it would. Got 12 quarts of canned kernels  out of it.   Also roasted about 100 cloves of garlic and pressed it into silicon ice cube trays to freeze. Love having little cubes of roasted garlic goodness to add into recipes as needed...     going to be a busy bee for the next 4-6 weeks then hopefully it will slow down   Mark
  23. Up in NW Arkansas visiting a customer. Going to have a 2 hour break after the last meeting and before I have to take my customer to dinner. Wonder what do... Now that I know there is a Cabela's close I will have to make an effort to visit the customer more often. Mark
  24. If you go wear full body armor and take a fire team to back you up... Mark
