    24/7 G2

Here we go again. I have owned quite a few Taurus pistols over the last 15 years or so. In fact, I own the 24/7 that Erik88 mentions, and except for cosmetic problems from the May Flood here in Nashville, it still functions. So I agree with Erik, Fiddledog, and tbone...There have been problems with Taurus, but so have there been with almost every other manufacturer. But I'm getting offtrack... the Doublestrike design is good, but I have to say...even as a Taurus fan...That sure is one Butt-ugly design!
  3. Ditto. I'll be there when it opens...and did you say indoor rifle range??
  4. Showing my age with this one...Anybody remember the HK4? A German police tradein that was available in the late 70's and early 80's. It was a multi-caliber pistol that had a rotating firing pin face that allowed you to shoot 25 and 32 calibers; If I remember correctly. It was so terribly inaccurate that you couldn't hit a coke can at 10 feet. And no..., it wasn't all me. I returned it to the dealer after a week and traded it in on a Browning BDA 380.

    Ruger SP101 Review

Don't hate them, just enjoy the variety that's available and hide everything from the wife. It'll work for a while anyway. BTW, I'm craving an SP101 as well.
  6. ;)Carbonarcher, welcome to the South! You'll like it here. Like everyone else here, I have an opinion...so here it is. Didn't like the PF...and I like Keltec. Hated the trigger. Father-in-law had one and I disliked it as well. Have a Kahr K9 that is really nice--accurate, easy to control, and conceals well, but just a touch heavy at 23.1 oz. Really like my xd9sc, but a little awkward to conceal at times because of it's width. Got a great deal on a CZ Rami that i carry a bit. But although not a 9mm, my personal carry preference at this time is a Glock 30. Accurate, very accurate. Shoots great and easily controlled, plus it's a .45. What more could I want? And as with all opinions, take with a grain or two of salt and make up your own mind as to what fits you and your purposes. Have fun choosing and welcome to MIddle Tennessee!
  7. Thanks to all for your kind words. It's good to spend time (and unfortunately money) here again. Already found a few interesting items...So on with the bs and lets deal.
  8. Went from a waterbed to a Sleepnumber type seven years ago. The wife and I really like it. I can't say I have any real knowledge of the Tempurpedic, but they have a good reputation with neighbor of mine.
  9. Great start on the project. Glad to see someone with the guts to try out something new. I'm sure you'll do a great job on the rest. I'm trying to work up the nerve to strip and refinish a couple of older cedar chests and a wardrobe that my dad built about 50 years ago. As soon as the garage workshop is cleaned up, I'll get started.
  10. That's the ticket! Use a bigger hammer! Always gets the job done! But seriously, I like the sight. I bet it would be great for my old eyes.
  11. Thanks, learning a lot about many things I never wanted to know about...lawyers, probate, lawyers, endless calls and visits to banks, insurance company, and by the way.... lawyers. Just kidding to all you legal eagles. My best old high school and college buddy is handling things for me, and is really great.
  12. Haven't been there yet, JP. My bil shoots there sometimes. As soon as the estate issues are settled, I'll have some free time on weekends and I'll let you shoot that old Rami I got from you. It's still with me.
  13. Ditto. That H&R should be a real tackdriver.
  14. I rarely carry a revolver, so my opinion is restricted to range use; and I prefer one with a hammer. Also, I just picked up a couple of used wheel guns--a 637 and a Colt Agent. Both have hammers and are sweet shooters. FYI--so far, I like the 637 better. Just my personal taste.
  15. Hi Guys. I'm back after a several long months away. My Thanks to the friends who knew the reason why and have helped me thru the passing of my mother. Your prayers and knid words have helped unbelievably throughout. I plan to regain my place as one of the old farts without much to say but gets online anyway. I have missed the interaction these past months and look forward to getting back in. Perhaps now there will be time to meet a few of the board friends I've made and get together to put a few rounds downrange.

    Glock 22 3rd gen.

I did a similar traade about a year ago and have not regreted it one time. I personally like the 22 better than the Baretta 92. Nothing against it, but the g22 just plain shoots better for me. I don't think you'll regret one you shoot a few rounds.
  17. I was really thinking about getting a Taurus 709, but today I picked up a Kahr 9mm and now I'm not so sure which one. I need to see and feel both together.
  18. Hey...in an effort to redeem myself from post #8. I just finished reading three books by Tom Kratman--Caliphate/A Desert Called Peace/Carnifex. All around 900 pages each, but quite good and worth the time. Micharl Z. Williamson's The Weapon is next.
  19. I'm so ashamed. I picked up some Charlaine Harris books in a closeout bin. You know....the books HBO's TRUE BLOOD 's based on. They are not too bad, kind of... Anyway, it's something different. It beats the Twilight story. Has the vampire love mix, plus the blood and guts action thrown in, and a fair plot line. The third book gives a new twist to what really happened to Elvis.
  20. Just in from the famous Al Gore...Solar Flares? Gosh, I bet you'll believe in Global Warming now.
  21. Good haul, wish I could have gone, but too much else going on. Maybe I'll find something at the next RK show.

    New Toy

That's the sweetest looking SR9 I've ever seen. That's also the only compact I've seen. Looks like it would be a good fit for small to medium hands. Thanks for the picture.
  23. Just picked up a Kahr 9. It feels really great.
  24. Man, where are all these old threads cropping up from today? Six months back on this one, and a couple from '08 that I saw. But, since I found this, I just picked up a Stainless Kahr 9. Heard so much about them and when I found this at Eastside and Rabbi made me a really good price on it; I just had to pick it up. It seems to be similar in size to the Taurus 709, maybe a little larger. But feels so good in the hands, I just couldn't put it down. I'll try it out sometime this week for the first time and if I continue to be impressed, it may just unseat my XD9sc from first position.
