  1. Looks like it may be easing up several places.  We were in a WalMart in Perry, FL today that was well stocked with pistol ammo (no .22 though). 100 rds WWB .45 ACP was $40.77 and .9 mm was $24.47.  Lots of AR's, Bolts and Shotguns also. I also saw some Colt .22 Bulk 500 rd boxes at a LGS in Mayo, FL yesterday for $65 a box.  I've never seen that brand before but did hear that they thought it was made by Aguila
  2. Looks like the Brits are really getting things "under control".  They'd likely put me under the jail.   http://finance.yahoo.com/news/britain-police-arrest-twitter-facebook-145758582.html   Almost unbelievable.
  3. It may be for him.  Are you sure he even knows what a micrometer is?
  4. For years the only watches that I could wear for more than a couple of weeks were Seikos.  My wife bought me a Luminox for Christmas in 2011 and so far so good.
  5. Should have hung her in 1972. :ugh:
  6. Absolutely horrible.  No other way to describe it.   http://www.tennessean.com/article/20130408/NEWS/304080039/Wife-deputy-shot-killed-by-3-year-old-Wilson-County-accident?odyssey=mod|breaking|text|FRONTPAGE
  7. Maybe the jawbone of one of Obama's ancestors?  (I can't believe I said that.)
  8. The liberals do not think that this will apply to them.  They believe they are the "chosen" ones.
  9. http://www.clantonadvertiser.com/2013/04/04/man-faces-eight-charges-in-assault-shooting/   My first thought was that it must have been in Japan where they have lots of little folks and rice paper walls but......it was in Alabama.  Reckon they got the caliber right?
  10. Bass Pro at Opry Mills had those Butler Creek mags in stock this evening for $19.99.
  11. Been saying this since I was attached to the US Embassy just prior to Khomeini's arrival in Tehran in 1979.  There's no question that they are coming (and some are already here), just a matter of when they decide to.
  12. Looks like things might be loosening up somewhat.  I walked in to a Walmart in Dover, Delaware yesterday and their ammo shelves were bare as usual.  Both of their long gun carousels were full.  Most I have seen anywhere in a long time.  Walked out with a stainless Ruger 10-22 for $254 OTD. No sales tax and no background check fee.  No, I don't want to live here; we just visit on business a couple of times a year. Looks like things might be loosening up somewhat.
  13. Interesting read although I don't agree with all of their conclusions or methodology.   http://www.gunsandammo.com/2013/03/14/ga-ranks-the-best-states-for-gun-owners-in-2013/
  14. Cabela's now has a limit on some ammo.  One of this, four of that, etc.  Trying to whack the hoarders or resellers? Dunno.  Sure looks like it might be a little complicated for them to keep up with what's what.   http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/browse/shooting-ammunition/_/N-1100188/Ns-CATEGORY_SEQ_104691780?WTz_l=SBC%3Bcat104792580
  15. When I was stationed just outside of Wash, DC in Virginia I had the same thing happen with one of my buck sergeants.  He had gone home on leave and while returning he got a speeding ticket in southern Virginia.  Well, he never told anyone and decided he would go to court and beat it.  Yeah, right.  I received a call from the sheriff who told me that if someone didn't bring $180 cash that he would rot in that jail.  I took the cash, signed for the Sgt and had a little talk with him on the way back to the unit.  I asked him what he had been thinking (or drinking).  His reply was that he hadn't been speeding as if that really mattered.  The only ticket I have ever gotten was for speeding on I81 in Wytheville, VA.  The weekend cop took me in to the JP.  When we got there the entire room was full of out of staters - mostly military.  Heck I was driving a Vega I couldn't have been speeding.  Military seldom win.  Anybody remember Coopertown, TN?
  16. Here is an interesting link that shows the progression of right to carry in the individual states since 1986:   http://www.gun-nuttery.com/rtc.php   Interesting name for the site.  Wonder where they got it.....Biden?
  17. Here is a link to the Florida statute that covers brief open display of firearms:   http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=0700-0799/0790/Sections/0790.053.html   Florida is also a preemption state.  I travel there a lot and never been hassled.  There's a lot of good information here:   http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/florida.pdf
  18. ^This. We have some friends, in Fairbanks of all places, that used this vinyl planking from Home Depot throughout their house and it really looks good and has held up well.  With all of the moving and shaking their house does during tremors, breakup, change of seasons, etc it has been impressive.  If I had an area I might need to replace relatively soon I would not hesitate to use it as it goes down really easy and is economical to boot.
  19. I learned, many years ago, to never put a price on a horse unless you are ready to sell him.  Seems like it has gotten that way with guns and ammo.  Don't price 'em unless you are ready to let 'em go because someone will more than likely take you up on it.
  20. I would think that most of, if not all, the folks that are gonna watch that Texas race are gun owners and possibly even NRA members.   http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nascar/schedule/2013/03/04/national-rifle-association-sponsoring-nascar-sprint-cup-race/1962211/
  21. When I was stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska I had a Platoon Sgt (E7) who was married to an Air Force Captain stationed at Elmendorf AFB.  They lived in base housing at Elmendorf.  Never heard of any issues and I did ask him about it occasionally.  He did say that if they attended an Air Force dining in, or some other function, that they asked him to not wear his uniform.
  22. Forgot to add that Gander Mountain had a sign posted at the entrance that they are limiting purchases of ammo boxes over 100 rounds to 3 a day.  Believe me if I could have I would have loaded my dually down.
  23. Right at $105.
  24. Stopped in the Gander Mountain store in Ocala, FL around 11am today and they were really stocked well with bulk ammo.  Price was $99 for 350 rounds of 9mm Blazer Brass and $99 for 200 rounds of .45acp Blazer Brass. It was a little pricey but hey if you need it you need it. The clerk said that it was the first bulk ammo they had received since way before Christmas. He also said that they had received a lot of everything except the phantom .22 and .38 special.  They had a lot of .380, .40 s&w, etc but I didn't notice the price on those. The only reason I mention this is because I haven't seen any bulk ammo to speak of in Tennessee in a looong time so hopefully things may loosen up.  Sure not expecting anyone to drive to Ocala.....just information.
  25. They do not care about being correct because they believe they are right.  Always.
