  1. I have one and live in Mount Juliet.  Shoot me a PM if you would like to hook up.
  2. Last week we flew to LA, on the way overseas. When we collected our bags for transfer to the overseas airline I opened one of the bags to get something out and noticed that my Leatherman WAVE and EDC were both missing. Interestingly three of the four bags we checked had TSA inspection notices inside. The bag with the missing WAVE and EDC did not have a TSA notice. Bunch of thieves.....either in LA or Nashville or both.
  3. Think your neighbor is bad. This POS was our next door neighbor. Everyone seemed to think he was going bad but the police couldn't pin anything on him. We moved to the woods just before he got those two army captains. Perfect example why justice needs to be swift and sure. http://murderpedia.org/male.C/c/cauthern-ronnie.htm
  4. While I despise Jane Fonda Ted Turner was off the deep end way before her. There are multiple reasons he was called "The Mouth of the South" in the mid 70's.
  5. Gladeville Community Center, just east of Nashville, has them sometimes. Check their schedule at: http://www.gladevillecommunitycenter.com/GCC/Calendar.html I see that they have one scheduled in December but you might also want to give them a call and see if they have any scheduled that are not yet posted.
  6. It's not just about islands. The Chinese are still highly po'd about what the Japanese did to them just prior to and during WW2. I read yesterday where young mainland Chinese have been conducting demonstrations against Japan the last few days. Those demo's have to have been orchestrated by the government. They evidently have really long memories.
  7. Didn't see this posted anywhere else so here it is. Looks like she was finally fed up. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2197486/Pregnant-rape-victim-shoots-DECAPITATES-attacker-leaving-severed-head-village-square.html?ICO=most_read_module
  8. Age doesn't seem to matter. I've been around long enough to have taken my high school senior trip to Vietnam and my wife says that when I change the oil in one of our trucks I come out looking like I have been in a three day bar fight.
  9. We have built, and had built, several pole barns over the last few years. We have five on our place right now. We had Walt's build a portable tack building for us a few years ago. Arranged the whole thing; design, colors, price, etc over the phone. It is probably the best built portable building I have ever seen. Very easy transaction. A few things I would insist on. Screw...not nail. I prefer coarse thread screws rather than fine thread ones. The coarse ones seem to hold much better. Pre-drill every screw hole in the metal. This ensures that a self-drilled hole does not tear the rubber washer on the screw head. Never had a pre-drilled screw leak. It's not that hard once the purlins are up, several sheets can be drilled at the same time. Without fail install some kind of insulation under the roof metal. If you don't then when you have temperature changes, primarily in the spring and fall, you will have condensation on the bottom side of the roof resulting in drips just about everywhere. Good ventilation helps but won't stop it. I have used both rigid 4x8 sheets of tongue and groove styrofoam and foil lined bubble wrap. They both work very well. Some folks use the blanket type insulation but birds and rodents seem to really like to tear into it and make a mess. I have been in many building where folks have gone back and tried to insulate the underside and nothing I have seen works very well.....everything from spraying stick on foam (which molds very easily) to rigid sheets between the rafters, etc. Nothing seems to work nearly as good as putting the insulation in before installing the metal. YMMV. Good Luck.
  10. We stopped at the Cablea's store in Reno, Nevada last summer. They had hookups for campers in their parking and also had stalls for your horse(s) while there. They do know how to do it up right.
  11. "I'm not sure what to think about pensions no matter the source. For the .gov I see it falling under the cost of common defense. You'd think though if it were money in the bank so to speak you could chose your dog as a beneficiary of it if you wanted to." Don't think so. Military Survivor Benefits assignment are pretty restricted as delineated at: http://www.military.com/benefits/survivor-benefits/the-survivor-benefit-plan-explained.html No obvious dogs, etc there.
  12. A family friend recently gave me a copy of "Glock: The Rise of America's Gun" by Paul M. Barrett. While I do not own a Glock, my wife loves them, the friend knows that I do own guns therefore they must be Glocks. Carrying single stacks for many years may explain why I have difficulty warming up to my wife's Glocks. The book is a really good read. It takes you from Gaston Glock making metal window shade equipment in his garage, through the development of the Glock and on to it's current status. I was surprised by some of the details such as the first Glock being developed by what was essentially a committee of folks from various backgrounds. I would recommend it as a well written, informative read although I am not sure I agree with the title of the book.
  13. I bought diesel in South Carolina this am for $4.01.
  14. '64 Ford Galaxy 500,2dr HT, 390, 3 speed, Red, a screamer. Left it with my brother-in-law while I went on a tour to RVN. He took it for a Sunday drive, a guy ran a stop sign, T-boned him and totaled my car. While on the way home I ordered(for stateside delivery) what was supposed to be the newest and best car coming down the pike ..........a VEGA. Not many folks would admit to doing something that stupid.
  15. "That very thing did happen here… in Lebanon a few years ago. Police had the wrong house number, kicked the door, the old man in the house grabbed a shotgun and they killed him. They didn’t try to plant any drugs or act like it wasn’t a mistake; it was. I think the lead investigator was even charged criminally, but if I remember right charges were dismissed. The wife sued a got a settlement, the amount was never released, but I bet it was a bunch." Lt Nokes of the Lebanon Police Dept led that raid. He was fired from the police department and charged with lying in order to obtain the search warrant for the wrong address. His firing stuck but he was acquitted by a jury on all charges which included either 2 or 3 felony charges. The media, here in Wilson County, has reported several times that the widow received $400,000 as a settlement from the City of Lebanon - paid by their insurance company. Nothing about this entire episode passed the smell test.
  16. I've had good luck with these folks in the past: [h=1]Nashville Barrel & Drum Svc[/h] Address 7401 Cumberland Dr Fairview TN 37062 Phone (615) 799-9449
  17. A retired FBI agent friend of mine sent this link to me: Man Hides Gun In Rectum: Michael Leon Ward Smuggled 10-Inch Weapon, Cops Say
  18. Only a true Phu Baiian (is that a word?) would recognize the cynicism in that greeting.
  19. I got to see bits and pieces of it. What I did see seemed to be pretty accurate. I can tell you that Hue during Tet '68 was a lot more exciting than depicted during the program.
  20. We went this AM. It is a pretty small show. Several private sellers were there. I got a decent deal on a Marlin 39A.
  21. The "new" Super WalMart, open a couple of years, has always only sold ammunition. Was in there today and they have installed gun racks and cases. Said they were "getting ready."?
  22. Have to agree with most of the comments. We got there at 9:15 on Saturday and parked close to the front door. Not many folks there when we left around 11:00. I started to go back on Sunday (I live pretty close) and check on a shotgun I saw but after thinking about it realized it wasn't really what I am looking for. Does anyone know if the admission covers both days like it used to? It's not on any of their advertisements, that I can find, anymore
  23. You think that is wacky? We visit Australia every year for business and are always amazed how fast that country is becoming a "kept" society. We were on a ranch in Western Australia last December when I read an article in the local newspaper about the police finding an "arsenal". The best I could tell from the photograph in the paper they found a really decrepit looking lever action rifle and two boxes of shells........not large boxes either. Last fall the state of Victoria passed a law essentially outlawing all knives. I was advised to leave my EDC small swiss army knife and leatherman secured in my suitcase or face an instant $1000 fine if they were discovered. The police there can do random searches and do not need probable cause.......or so I have read. Here is a link to the PM talking about the knife ban last summer. Years ago when we first started going to Australia it really reminded me of what the US must have been like in the late 1800's. There's lots more going on there than just the gun and knife ban. Give thanks for what we have here and get engaged if you want to keep what freedoms we still have. I've had a ring side seat to what has been happening in Australia and as my dad would say "it shor ain't purty".
  24. A country that can not control it's borders is no longer a country but a place for mobs. Can't control our borders? Can't never accomplished anything.......but we surely can't if we lack the will to do so.
