Uh-oh! Obama's Kenyan Birth Certificate?
Falcon1 replied to E4 No More's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
No, I'm pretty certain Biden would step up, barring any disqualification on his part. The electors voted for President and Vice President separately, so regardless of Obama's qualifications, Biden is the Vice President. That is another reason the Vice President is sworn in quietly before the President on the morning of 20 January; if no President shall have qualified by noon on 20 January, the Vice President immediately becomes President. Also, if you look at the way the President is chosen in the House if the electoral college cannot make a choice, it is possible for the House not to be able to make a selection either. For the Vice President, the process in the Senate will not allow a non-selection. -
Very true on the Pythons. I got mine in the seventies...it was expensive for the time then, too, but a lot less than $799.

He must be planning to retire.... We need to remind him that Al Gore wasn't elected president in 2000 because his fellow Tennesseans (if one can really call Gore a Tennessean) voted against him because Gore had abandoned their values for Washington's. If Tennessee had gone for Gore, Florida would have been a mere footnote in political history. When you email him, bring the point home by addressing him as Mr. Alexander from now on....

I bought three Colt double-actions in the 1990s and early 2000s: King Cobra, Anaconda, and SF-VI. I didn't pay over $549 retail for any of them? I'd like to see them bring out a five-shot .44 Special on a King Cobra frame with a three-inch barrel (along the lines of the recent-but-now-gone Smith Model 696). They could call it the Copperhead.

Sorry...too little sleep and not enough coffee.

Am I missing something? A "yes" vote says they should have opted out, i.e., banned carry. It seems to me that we're losing, not winning, at the moment?

Someone is playing fast and loose with their statistics (the paper or the association). The association sent out 650 surveys to their members, only 100 members replied. Seventy-eight of the respondents said they would post--78% of the respondents, but only approximately 12% of the total surveyed. You know the deal: lies, d++n lies, and statistics.

Discussion on posted restaurants

Confirmation of what we all knew--the state provided them a shield for a long time, but no more. As for the four out of five restaurants...didn't we see that only ten percent or so of their members even bothered to respond to their survey? -
+1 on Colt revolvers. I was able to find a very nice Model 15-4 snubnose (made around 1980) for a good price--no lock.

Nashville to vote on allowing guns in parks @ night.
Falcon1 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This morning, Channel Four News reported that there is an ordinance from the 1960s (hence grandfathered under state preemption) which outlaws firearms in Metro parks. I wouldn't hold my breath while that ordinance is repealed.... -

Not exactly correct...the proprietor and his or her agents/employees may still be armed as he or she chooses. -
Nashville to vote on allowing guns in parks @ night.

Yep, not an option. Either the entire park is carry 24/7 or it's not carry 24/7. Decisions can be made on a park-by-park basis by a local government, but that is all. They are throwing a sop to us. "Well, we tried." -
E-mail lists for County and City governments
Falcon1 replied to LagerHead's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I've emailed NRA twice...their information on Murfreesboro is wrong, and I don't know from where they got it. Murfreesboro opted out on 9 July 2009. Emails are moot for that city (unless you're a resident and you're emailing them to tell them you'll support their opponent in the next election). Toby Gilley voted with us, the rest let us down. -
Agreed. For one thing, mustn't comply immediately or face a trespass charge? As a practical matter, I am not paying when the proprietor asks me to leave...I'm leaving, immediately.

Some info on Huey's Resturant and the Carry Law

Here is the AG opinion: http://tennessee.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2005/OP/OP154.pdf To my knowledge, this has not been tested in a court of the state.

I'm not certain that is "substantially similar": http://tennessee.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2007/OP/OP43.pdf It doesn't even cite the TCA reference. I am not advocating carrying past it, but I don't think it meets the criteria either.... -
Voted No. Current results: Should local cities ban guns in their parks? Yes 54% No 46% 2234 votes

That is exactly the mindset, I would wager, of most of the people who have voted to "opt-out." The belief on the part of our politicians that citizens need to justify the exercise of rights is a cancer in this nation, a cancer which will likely eventually kill it.

Yes, the verbiage is key. The picture is take it or leave it, but the words are the important part.
