  1.   I've had warts that look better than a Smartcar.
  2.   Do you mean to tell me that the free market benefits customers more than crony capitalism? Say it ain't so!!! ;-)
  3.   I don't live in Nashville, so I won't benefit no matter how this goes down. But on the other hand, I really don't need gigabit speeds at my house. If I really need that kind of speed, I have an open 1Gbps Internet drop at my desk at work, and I get paid to use it. ;)
  4.   I read this to mean that Google is looking to use taxpayer dollars to build this. Is that correct? If so, I say let Google keep their fiber.
  5.   Somebody's gotta counter the BS and rhetoric that the union spews.      Actually, living in a free country means that we in fact DO get to inject our personal beliefs on them. They don't have to listen, but you are perfectly free to spout whatever you believe.
  6.   But it's unfair when the opposition does the same.
  7.   I just started brewing, so I'm not sure what decent prices really are. For my kit, which made a dark Belgian ale at around 7.5%ABV, it was $50. I'm not sure how their ingredients are priced, but since it's getting close to time to get another kit, I will try and remember to look at how that stuff is priced.
  8.   Do you get to Nashville semi-often? There is All Seasons Gardening and Brewing Supply on 8th Ave S., right next door to America's Motorsports.
  9. The most important thing to know is, if you're talking to a recruiter, you're getting lied to. I have never met a single person that wasn't lied to by their recruiter. They will give the best case scenario and that is it. The truth is, unless you're in special ops, most of the time the military blows. You may make lifelong friends, experience comradery  you will never experience anywhere else, travel to exotic lands where you'll meet interesting people, and then kill them, but a lot of time is spent cleaning clean gear, checking oil in vehicles you checked yesterday (and the day before, and the day before, and the day before, etc. etc. etc.), and just general B.S. to keep you busy, or at least maintain that appearance to the VERY casual observer.    The thing one needs to realize before joining is that once you sign on the dotted line, your ass belongs to Uncle Sam. And he will do with you what he pleases and have no care for your opinion on the matter. And if you screw up, your ass is grass and they are the lawn mower. It can be a very thankless job much of the time, even if it is rewarding to know you're doing some good.   I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but I want to keep expectations realistic. I had a blast sometimes in the Army, but there were also times when I wanted to sit atop a water tower with a high powered rifle laughing hysterically while I took everyone in my command structure. The only in-between emotion that I recall was sheer boredom.
  10.   You mean the guy challenging the constitutionality of the law? Doesn't our constitution state that any restrictions on the carry of firearms should be with a view toward reducing crime? What laws do we have that do that? I think the guy is right. It's completely unconstitutional by both state and federal standards that we should be forced to pay the state for a natural right in the first place.    Edit: Oh damn, just noticed who it was. I hate that I feel he's right. Shoulda kept my big mouth shut. :D
  11.   Technically, once you become an American citizen, you are entitled to them. But I agree with your greater point. A lot of folks leave countries that have severely limited freedoms due to their socialistic/communistic governments, and the first thing they bitch about when they get here is that there isn't enough socialism. Really? 100 years of failed socialist policies in your country wasn't enough? Now you want to bring us down to the same level? That's just asinine.
  12.   Most people are intolerant of others that disagree with them. The right is not unique in this aspect, and neither are gun owners. The left is particularly intolerant if you don't 100,000% support every one of their pet causes. Look at how they vilify anyone who simply chooses to follow their religious beliefs. Not those who attack gays, for instance, but those who simply refuse to say that it's acceptable.    So for you to call everyone here bigots smacks of elitism. But you're projecting. You're being bigoted against an entire group based on the actions of a few. You apparently ignore the myriad good things that happen daily on, or as a result of interactions resulting from this forum. You can't see the forest for the trees and you have been called on it.    For the record, I agree that the Coke ad is a non-issue, and those who are getting bent out of shape about it need to relax. We live in a country with myriad cultures. If you don't like the fact that someone speaks a language other than English, find someone else with whom to converse.    But what I don't like is when someone generalizes an entire group. Not just groups with which I am associated, but any group. I will call you out if you use the dreaded "N word" or if you call all Southerners racist. I am not black, nor was I born and raised in the South. But both are wrong and I will call anyone out who makes such ignorant generalizations. Wrong is wrong, and two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do.    So if you want to continue to operate here, leave those kind of statements at the door. If you see someone on this board making racist statements, there is a report button. Use it. The moderators and David will not stand for it, and we have issued warnings and brought the ban hammer down on those that have violated that policy. But there are a handful of staff, and thousands of members making nearly as many posts every day. We can't be omnipresent nor omniscient, which is why the report feature exists. Our little community here tends to police itself pretty well but things do fall through the cracks. But for the most part, the folks here are not as you describe, and neither is the content. There are of course exceptions to every rule, except for the rule that there are exceptions to every rule.    I'm going to back off and allow you the last word, whatever that may be. I have made my point, whether or not you agree. I will sleep well tonight either way. I wish the same for you.
  13.   David, elitists love being places they hate. That way they can make ignorant comments, thinking they're outsmarting the dimwits, and never realizing they are actually out of their depth in a thimble of knowledge. It must be some kind of strange mental S&M game that we backwards folk will never understand.
  14.   You win nothing. You apparently don't know the definition of "expected" or "preconceived."   The applicable definition of "expected" in this case would be:   b. To consider likely or certain:   You can't consider something likely or certain if you already have experience. The very definition of "expected" means you are making the assumption BEFORE you have evidence, i.e preconceived, which you are also using incorrectly. If you have evidence upon which to base an opinion, it can't possibly be preconceived. It's kind of like predicting the winner and the score of the Super Bowl that happened last week. Not much magic there, is there?    Tell you what: Just so you do feel like you do win something, I am going to give you a link to an online dictionary. Think of it as winning the Internet. That way you can look up the definitions of big words before you try to use them. Or, as the case may be, even small ones. Make good use of it.    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/
  15.   Gladly. You accuse everyone here of being a bigot, which is a preconceived notion you had, based on your statement that it's "[e]xactly what [you] expected from this forum." Bigotry is having a preconceived notion of people you don't know, so that makes YOU a bigot, which in turn makes you a hypocrite. Funny how that works, isn't it?
  16. Do I really need to point out the blatant hypocrisy in this post or can you, the grown up one, see it yourself?
  17.     There have also been a lot of criminals CREATED during a routine traffic stop.
  18.   Unless of course it's Hollywood glorifying them, like the "24" ad with Jack Bauer chambering a round in his HK. As long as a celebrity is holding a gun it's OK. But if it's a normal American, that's bad, mkay?
  19. My wife got pulled over this morning. It comes up. After running her DL he asked if she had a gun in the car and informed her that running the DL tells them. And, all the stuff that's already been said.
  20.   Amen. I wouldn't trade the system we're supposed to have for anything, except the one we currently have.      Good luck with that. Even "you break it you buy it" signs are unenforceable. There is nothing you can do to force anyone to buy anything...except run for public office.
  21. I got a brew kit shortly before Christmas. The wife and I brewed our first beer, a Belgian Dark Strong Ale, immediately after. I have since drank quite a few and it's good stuff. The next batch will be a double IPA.

    great day

My guess is, two walls. In one side, out the other, in one side, out the other. Boom, four holes, two walls, one bullet.    Edit: He answered before I refreshed. :)
  23.   That may be fake, but this is real.   http://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/nov/30/unicorn-lair-discovered-north-korea
  24.   Yep. I lost a deck to my outside dogs. The spray didn't slow them down a bit.
  25.   I never said it was realistic. But both parties are bought and paid for, period. The sad thing is, you can't even say that they have different masters, because they don't. They are all bought and paid for by the same people and corporations. So the substantive difference between them comes down to which rhetoric they spew. But in the end, when for example, the Republicans allow a spending bill to pass that increases our debt ceiling yet again, how are they any different than the Democrats. If you allow it to happen when you could have prevented it, you might as well have been for it the whole time.
