It's not our problem to solve. All I want is to be left alone. Sometimes that is asking too much. I hope you're right about the populist movement(s) in this country. Unfortunately I am not optimistic. If the Supreme Court can uphold something that is so obviously unconstitutional as Obamacare, then there is really no reason to think they won't just as readily take away any of our other rights if someone is available to present a convincing enough argument. I am happy though that we have seen a resurgence in our 2nd Amendment rights. That tempers some of my pessimism. You don't really have to be that old to remember the "may issue" days. Most of the country was that way into the early 90s. It seems we gain ground in some areas and lose it in others.
-
We see stories like this daily and people wonder why the Libertarian and Anarchist movements are gaining so much ground lately. It's obvious that the single largest impediment to success and happiness in this country is our government. They screw us every time we turn around and people still act surprised about it.

TN State GOP leaders reluctant to reopen gun debate
LagerHead replied to runco's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
A politician is unwilling to make a stand on an issue during an election year when it might lose him some votes, even if it might gain him some? Stop the presses! Next thing you'll tell me is that Obama didn't keep all of his election promises. -
You misunderstand me. I want BOTH parties gone. Not just one.
-
Both parties preach the same thing to keep their voters from voting other than D or R. And in both parties, voters say the same thing you are saying because they are led to believe that those who vote outside the two party system will all come from their party, thereby giving the other party the Congress and the White House. But here's the rub: Those that are like me, would be perfectly happy if NEITHER of these two parties controlled anything. They have both been complicit in putting this country in the position in which we now find it, so pardon me if I don't shed any tears if <insert bought-and-paid-for career politician's name here> doesn't win in the next election.

You ever wonder why that is? -
Dude, why are you lying? I know from everything that I have read on the Interwebz that every time someone OCs, every bad guy within a 150 mile radius is drawn to that location like moths to a fire and they take his weapon from him and kill him, his family, his friends, his Facebook friends, and everyone that signed his 8th grade yearbook. :stir:

Leroy, I understand exactly where you're coming from. I really do. And I understand the arguments against open carry, even the ones that are based completely on someone's overactive imagination (most of them). In fact, I don't open carry except maybe once or twice a year at most. But here's the thing: I'm not particularly interested in whether some bed wetter needs to have therapy because he saw a man with a gun that isn't a trustworthy government official (because as we all know, no government official has ever abused the power bestowed upon him). The truth is, if he needs to seek counselling, that is his problem, not mine. I honestly couldn't care less if someone sees my gun and their blood pressure increases by 100 points. Those kinds of people wouldn't be convinced no matter what. They are completely beyond help. In fact, they are not even the ones at whom my comments are directed. My comments are directed at US. WE can be our own worst enemies when we bash somebody for open carrying. Whether we agree with it or not for tactical reasons, we should support anyone who carries, period. Not open carries, not concealed carries, but just plain carries. Other than "he who shall not be named" and his ilk, every single person who exercises their God-given right to carry a firearm to protect themselves and their loved ones and does so responsibly should receive 100% unabashed support from every single one of us. Just as a nation divided cannot stand, neither can an issue. If we don't present a united front against ALL gun-grabbing efforts, we will suffer the consequences, mark my word. It's like the poem, "First They Came." Except in our case it would read: First they came for the open carriers guns But I said nothing because I did not open carry

I need to introduce everyone to a special someone

Congrats to you and the Mrs. May he bring you years and years of joy. -
It was not directed at you in particular. It was directed at anyone who says this is ok, but would be, or have been pissed at similar situations in Iraq, Somalia, etc. As far as the overpowering smell theory, I kind of doubt that simply cleaning up a smell is worthy of pictures. How about not leaving bodies to rot in an area where you live? I'm not saying it's not possible, because I'm sure it is; I just don't buy it. Regardless, we would never accept the same excuse if the same happened to one of our fallen, of that I am sure. The point is, we as Americans like to tout how we never colonize a defeated enemy's country. We are taught in basic training that we are the ones who don't do the unthinkable things that are done to our servicemen. So when I see people taking joy in seeing this kind of thing done to the enemy, no matter how despicable that enemy might be, I have to cry foul. We ARE better than that, period.
-
It's kind of hard to take the high road when it only works one way. If it's ok for us, then I don't want to see you getting pissed when they do it. Unless you like being called a hypocrite. Just because they did it first doesn't make it ok to respond in kind. That's why it's called the high road.

I'm not talking about making a statement. I'm just talking about simply exercising your rights. Everyone, especially those of us who are true 2nd Amendment supporters, thinking that open carrying is always about shoving it down someone's throat or making a statement, is part of the problem. And back in the day when gentlemen carried arms, it was considered in extremely poor taste to carry concealed. My how times have changed.

It would be money wasted. There is absolutely zero chance of winning this lawsuit. Police are given a LOT of leeway when it comes to investigating a suspected crime, and the fact that the wife said the gun was "maybe" in the glove box or console gave him probable cause under the law. As far as the law, or you or I are concerned, he is untouchable. By these departments you of course mean the taxpayers.
-
So exercising a constitutionally protected right is akin to walking around naked?
-
So you're not a member of the NRA? :stir:
-
Translation: Money talks. However, that is only true in politics because we let it. Hell, we encourage it.
-
This is only true because people listen to the Democrats and Republicans who continually tell them such things as, "This is the most important election of our lifetime," or "If you vote for <the other guys> you're throwing your vote away." The truth is, I couldn't possibly care less what they have to say. I will vote my conscience and sleep well at night, even if that means voting Libertarian. I'll be damned if I'll let a slimy, greasy, bought-and-paid-for politician whose only ambition in life is to climb higher on the taxpayer-funded ladder tell me what is right or wrong.

Tundras are gas only...for now!!! Bwahahaha! Anyway, take it to the dealer. Use the warranty. That's why you have one. Call ahead, let them know you bought the vehicle there, and ask that they have a loaner for you while they take a look at it. It's a minor inconvenience to avoid a major headache.

It was deleted. The thread may have been advertising free books, but it was intended to drum up sales after the free period, so it qualified as an unauthorized vendor post.

I also save my bottle caps. I have about 400-500 of them on my bar. Someday we'll do something with them.

I understand what you're saying, but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. When the left lies constantly, makes "studies" simply for the purpose for supporting their foregone conclusions, call every NRA member a racist, and calls the NRA the new KKK, sometimes you have to take a swing back. I really have no problem with the NRA's tactics, and neither do over 4 million other Americans. But I also don't begrudge you or anyone else if they don't like them. Ain't freedom grand? ;)
-
They're only rabidly anti-Obama because he's rabidly anti-gun. I don't think they pontificate too much on his economics or other stances. The NRA tends to be pretty much a single issue organization. I will admit I don't follow everything they do, but what I do read/keep up with is pretty much related to gun ownership and nothing else.

Practice, brother. Same way you get to Carnegie Hall.

That's what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure they don't use filtered water anywhere. -
Even if you have stacks of cash around, you already have digital currency. Our money is created out of debt, so the paper your money is actually worth what the paper is printed on. Since our money is created out of debt and not backed by anything but the threat of force from the government, it might as well be digital.
