1st he neglected to have plans and specifications drawn up by an engineering consutling firm. 2nd he failed to have an enviornmental assessment before he moving any vegetation or distrubing any soil. 3rd he failed to put the job out for public bid to ensure the lowest and most responsible firm be awarded the work. 4th he failed to have proper construction inspection and also did not have a proper safety supervision present. No good goverment job can be done simply so he earned his community service badge/award but failed his government service. Quite the conflict. In reality I applaud the young man and can't believe the union would be so politically incorrect to express a public objection to this young man's effort. I remember several years ago prior to my father's retirment he worked in one of the Oak Ridge labs as salaried employee. He told me the closest he ever came to being fired was because a piece of equipment in his work area became un-plugged from the wall. He picked up the plug and placed it in the wall socket and went on about his business and the electric workers union filed a grievance against him for denying them work. My wife, who is a manager at another Oak Ridge facility, also had a complaint filed against her by a laborers union for carrying more that one box to her car.

There is a video on U-Tube that shows a guy shooting a target that is attached to a steel sign post pole. The guy fires and instantly his hat flies off of his head backward. The ricochet came straight back and grazed the top of his head. An inch lower and it would have been one shot one kill, right between the eyes.

Both myself and my sister have Comcast her daughter has AT&T. When my sister is @ her daughters she can not log into her Comcast e-mail account using the daughters AT&T. I don't like paying $180/month for Comcast but it's all that's available @ my location. I also am not a fan of their service.

I've ordered from them several times and have no complaints. I placed an order about two weeks ago for a couple of items and 500 rounds of ammo with an expected ship date for the ammo @ the end of November. The other items showed up withing a couple of days.

That was a pleasant break in my afternoon and reminds me why I stay in TN instead of going to my wifes hometown in Fla. Thanks for the slide show.

I took the Advanced Issues in Handgun Carry class @ Coal Creek Academy (CCA) on Oct 5th. Kent has left CCA and Rick Newstorm is now teaching all of the classes there. Nice guy and very personable. He picked up where the HCP carry class left off and spent a great deal of time talking about when you can and more importantly can't use deadly force. He also discussed a lot of other issues. He has done good research on TN law and his info was current. I left the class with a better idea of what is and isn't legal but there are still questions posed in these posts and situtions that I can think of that I have no clear cut answer for. The class was supposed to be 2 hours of classroom time & 1 hour of range time but Mr. Newstrom had more info than time and was still talking @ closing time. We didn't shoot but he did give us certificates for free range time. My summation for those in the Knoxville area near Coal Creek is time and money well spent.

I took the Advanced Issues in Carry class last week. Rick Newstrom taught it and did a good job. I was particularly impressed with the amount of research he has done regarding TN law. He is also a big guy that carries himself in laid back way. Very personable. I think I left the class feeling I had a little clearer picture regarding the use of deadly force but unfortuntaly we all can think of situtions where there is not clear cut black and white answer. For those wondering about Kent he (Rick) advises that Kent has left. Rick is now teaching all the classes expect the Basic Handgun which is taught by one of the gunsmiths. When I took it about a year ago Bob Delmore taught it and did a good job. -
I was @ the plinking range @ ORSA last night and there was a man there with his kids and his Dad (kids grandfather). The kids were, i guess 7 & 9 years old. He was teaching them to shoot and it was fun to watch. It will be fun for you when yours gets that age. Congrats

I love my Glock. I took my first try @ IDPA a couple of weeks ago, did terrible. It takes at least one match to have any idea what you are doing. I would have prefered they didn't keep score. The worse problem is that I'm shooting a right handed gun left handed which means I have to swap hands to change mags and operate the controls. Enjoy the Glock, your butt will be fine.

I live between the Y-12 plant and the old K-25 facility (now East TN Technology Park) and work in the Oak Ridge City Central Service Complex a few hundred yards north of Y-12. My wife works at the waste facility near the west portal of Y-12. I figure if something were to ever actually happen there is no BOV that could save us. The only thing that might help is if Scotty can beam us up quickly enough.
