  1. Let me add my good wishes for a great Father's Day to all you fellow dads!   Robert, that was a very touching tribute to your father. Thank you for writing it.
  2. I sat down this afternoon and tried to watch "We Are The Millers", which is supposed to be a comedy. After listening to 10 minutes of nothing but expletives and profanities, I finally turned it off and am sitting here shaking my head.   I grew up in the days of Red Skelton, Martin and Lewis, Danny Kaye, and clean comedy, which was actually FUNNY. Today, every show and every movie seems to have nothing but vulgar and offensive language and sexual innuendo which is supposedly "funny".   I just don't get it. Years ago my wife and I went with two other couples to see a Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson movie that was billed as "the funniest movie of the year" (funny how every comedy gets billed this way; can they really ALL be the funniest movie of the year?). Nothing but foul language and nothing that I found even remotely funny. I told my wife I couldn't watch any more of it and I walked over to the next theater to see the last half of Jurassic Park. I don't mind a few colorful metaphors, but when every other word is the F bomb or something equally offensive and gratuitous, I simply can't watch it. How did we get so far away from cleanliness and true family entertainment?
  3. I thought the whole point of the decocker was to deactivate the firing pin. Seems like a negligent discharge waiting to happen, unless I'm just completely misunderstanding.
  4.   I don't want an external safety/decocker on my carry gun. Just one more step, and I have not committed myself to learning the discipline of switching it off if I have to draw. Same reason I don't carry my 1911.
  5. The Bersa UC line are handsome weapons, and they are so easy to learn to shoot well. If it weren't for the decocker, I'd add it to my carry rotation.
  6. I never ask. If it's posted, I go back to the car and secure the weapon. If it's not posted, then I'm good to go.
  7.   How did I not know about this place? I think I'm paying them a visit today...
  8. I love it when someone tells a joke and I actually get it.

  10.   Unless I'm misunderstanding, the Tenacious is over 2". When you say "your building", are you referring to your office building or your apartment/condo?
  11. Tom at Lock, Stock and Barrel does good work, it just takes a while if he is backed up.   Don't use Saddle Shop in Triune. The smith they sent my Ithaca shotgun out to for rebluing really botched it. I ended up taking it to Tom and he made it look brand new.
  12. I guess I'm looking for an answer that will stop them dead in their tracks 95% of the time. I couldn't care less if I educate them, I just want to shut them up.
  13. How do you answer this question when confronted by one of the hoplophobes?
  14. Never understood why they made it with an external safety in the first place. A defensive weapon shouldn't have one.

  16. There's more than one opinion about it. We all believe ours is the right one. You have the right to express yours.
  17. Really envious of you guys who got to be there.
  18. You guys know why they're doing this don't you? Open carry of handguns is illegal in TX, so open carry of long guns is all they have. They're protesting an unconstitutional law.

    Dogs Barking

I feel your pain, brother. I live in a rural neighborhood and have had to deal with rude neighbors for the past 10 years or so. Dogs, boom cars, parties till 3am, you name it. Things change eventually. The dogs are gone now, and the parties have stopped, no more boom cars, because the teenagers grew up and moved away.   Still, it's maddening when you're right in the middle of it. That said, I'm going to go buy a couple of airhorns this week and keep them handy.
  20. That's a Utilitac II, not a Rat 2. I have one myself; it's a great $25 knife.
  21. Both of these ride on a 1.5" Bullhide Belt. .357 mag 2.25" SP101 in a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar pancake holster: M&P45c in a K&D Thunderbird Defender holster (no longer made). This is a convertible rig, and I have since removed the IWB clips and carry it OWB.
