  1. While I commend people who are trying to find new ways to do things, I just don't get stuff like this. I don't like the idea of carrying a loaded firearm with the trigger unprotected. I just think it's stupid. Neither do I want something stuffed up the bore that could damage it. I'll stick with what I know works. This is a solution to a non-existent problem.
  2. I agree, and it's only going to get worse as both the economy and society continue their descent into the abyss.
  3. G19, no doubt about it. But if the Colt was a Series 70, that would change things.
  4. It's OK. I called Chief Collins and told him that I found it before anyone else did, so no one was harmed. Everything is OK now.
  5. It has nothing to do with firearms, and everything to do with the ego. The bigger the ego, the more insecure the person is.
  6. Hopefully, this will save you some money: What You Need, What You Don’t If you watch the movies or read too many gun magazines, you may be puzzled by what the typical Hollywood fighting gun looks like compared to the plain J.C. Higgins pump your grandfather gave you on your 13th birthday. Actually, there may not be much real difference. Today’s modern warriors have convinced themselves that they have to have all of those things all over the gun in order for it to be “real-world effective.” I hold a contrary view, and my own guns have very little in the way of extras bolted on. Let’s take a look at some of these devices and modifications. For one thing, a blue-steel-and-walnut shotgun works just as well as one that is tactical black all over. If your daily business involves kicking in crack-house doors, you might have need for a few extra shots, but the extra-long extensions screwed to the front of your magazine tube probably aren’t going to be used. Other forms of ammo supply–sidesaddle carriers, butt cuffs or the Speed Feed stock–certainly carry some extra rounds close at hand, but they are equally questionable. A dedicated combat shotgun needs ghost-ring sights so the gunner can get the most out of slug loads, but a gun intended purely for dealing with home invaders probably doesn’t. Nor does it need any form of laser or red-dot sighting system. You are unlikely to have to carry the gun on a 13-mile recon patrol, so you probably won’t need a sling. You do, however, need a buttstock. Pistol-grip stocks that are widely sold turn a decent shotgun into a useless piece of junk. Shotguns are amazingly easy to miss with under the best of circumstances, but cutting off or radically shortening the butt simply removes your ability to point the gun as it was intended to be pointed. One other item that can be added to today’s shotguns with relative ease is a strong, simple-to-operate weaponlight. SureFire seems to have the only game in town here. A powerful light mounted on the gun not only gives you something of a shield of light behind which you can work, it also allows you to be sure of your target. Basically, I’m against any modification or accessory that lengthens, widens, unbalances, complicates, adds weight, requires a battery (OK, except for a light), creates extra edges and corners or otherwise adversely impacts your ability to quickly use your shotgun. Just keep it simple. The Home Defense Shotgun - Guns & Ammo
  7. Never mess with tiny ladies wearing martial arts uniforms!!! Bwaahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
  8. Unless I missed it, no one has mentioned Bone's Smokehouse on E Brainerd Rd. I've had their BBQ pork and chicken, but have not eaten in the restaurant. My relatives who live in Ooltewah really like it.
  9. You should know where the trigger reset is for every weapon you carry.
  10. That's hilarious. I don't do any of those things. A quality belt and IWB holster with at least a two-point attachment will eliminate most or all of those things.
  11. That is one gorgeous truck. How about a couple of interior shots?
  12. Michael, thank you for posting that. Very profound and very meaningful. God Bless the USA!
  13. My wife is wanting to go there for a long weekend and I'm doing everything I can to dissuade her. Bribing works sometimes.
  14. Some photos from my recent trip to Alaska:
  15. I remember going there for my 8th grade class trip in 1968 and hearing "Light My Fire" by The Doors playing on the PA system. I understand it hasn't changed at all.
  16. I thought it was common knowledge that you can't legally carry in NYC.
  17. As far as eateries go, there are some good places over in the Hamilton Place/Gunbarrel Road area. I like the Chop House, and last time I was there, they were not posted. The City Cafe on Lee Hwy has great food, but they have a handmade "no weapons allowed on premises" sign on the door, and a legal posting on the wall by the register. They are the one exception I make about not patronizing anti-gun businesses because their food is so good. Yes, I'm a hypocrite.
  18. I took the CIS Advanced Handgun Carry class last year and it was excellent.
  19. That was absolutely the WORST written report I've ever read. Who's writing these things, 5 year-olds?
  20. If you like the Hitachi brand, Sam's has them at a good price. We bought our 48" before Christmas for less than $500.
  21. It's probably already been said, but as much as I would like to be able to transport my weapon back and forth to work, if we start taking away the rights of companies to opt out, where does it stop? My right to carry does not usurp someone else's right to ban firearms from their property if they so choose. Property rights were very high on the founding fathers' list.
  22. Not only that, but the classifieds on TGO have this way of draining your bank account.
  23. One word: Testosterone.
  24. Sorry, they all look alike to me.
