  1. I have to agree here. Started off on the 1911 road with an Ultra Carry and did experience some problems with it. Traded up to a custom-built Commander and haven't looked back.
  2. T'was a Dark 'n Stormy night before Christmas . . .
  3. Do you mean this?
  4. Perhaps a Fenix PD32[/url] is what you're looking for. I don't have one of these but I have heard good things about Fenix in general. I personally use a SureFire Z2-S myself.
  5. It's quite possible that it's a Single Action Army and if I'm looking at the chart at this link correctly, it was manufactured in 1880. You can take advantage of Colt's Archive Services here. Is the serial number 61xxx or 61xxxSA? If it has the SA, it's a Single Action Army built in 1971 or 1972.
  6. It's a K98 Bayonet made by the Carl Eickhorn company in 1936. Check this link (specifically line 2 of the table at the bottom) for details.
  7. If y'all haven't checked this out yet, please do! Linoge's got even more prizes to give away and your donations go to a great cause.
  8. I'll defer to Dolomite, but I started out with a DPMS Panther Sportical that I've tricked out with some MagPul goodies without any trouble. I'm on the verge of starting my own build using a stripped lower and upper. Dolomite, share your wisdom.
  9. It's a worthy goal but I think it might be cost prohibitive. A pistolsmith I know has several thousand dollars tied up in equipment.
  10. Didn't know that. Anywho, give us some insight into your choice o' names here: What's in a Name.
  11. Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride.
  12. The sale runs through Sunday and the codes works. Just ordered a set of Elite Tactical Carry grips for my Hero-1911 CBOB.
  13. Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride. How about telling about your user name here: What's In A Name.
  14. Cook's Illustrated just did a story on their Best Buy a La Carte Knife Set and, not surprisingly, Victorinox took most of the top spots. I have all the Victorinox knifes recommended and I've been extremely happy with all of them.
  15. Don't want to hijack the thread, but what kind of camera did you use?

Ain't having much luck using the gmail addresses but I've been able to get most using other methods. Ain't got robin48, jcj and analog_kidd. By the way, I'm lwhaston at gmail or, easier to find, Lyndon Haston.

@strickJ: Done. @DaveTN: Yes, it is.
  18. Welcome to the club. Done your Wally Walk yet? Seriously, carry as often as you can, get all the training that you can (and afford), and be be situationally aware at all times. If you conceal carry, don't worry. Most people don't notice and most of those that do, won't care. If you open carry, don't worry. Most people don't notice and most of those that do, won't care.
  19. Went to dinner and just got back. 8:21 pm CDT on Verizon Wireless Broadband
  20. That's interesting. I got my Leek a couple of years ago as my everyday blade and have never noticed any rust spots. The only thing I've done to it is give it some swipes on a sharpening steel every now and then.
  21. Looks like a Japanese Arisaka from World War II. Could be a Type 38 or a Type 99.
  22. Try this: let Photobucket copy the URL of the image but instead of using the "Image" button in the TGO editor, paste the copied link instead (Control-V).
  23. Y'all do realize that whoever you work for pays an equal portion of FICA (actually 2% more in 2011) as you do. In other words, it's possibly at least twice the amount you think it is since whoever you work for has to lower potential pay increases or reduce other benefits to pay their "fair share".
