  1. The full-blown 3 Distillery Tour is postponed until late April or early May. I've gotten some really great ideas from several folks so, hopefully, the spring version will be bigger and better. Thanks for stopping by and keep your eyes open for the springtime announcement.
  2. Welcome back!
  3. I learned the same lessons as a Scout. I've always been a conservationist as opposed to an environmentalist.
  4. Linoge, over at Wall of the City, has the video posted and an excellent response to it as well.

    Short 303 Enfield

Maybe these can help: Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III SMLE Rifle and Rifle, Short, Magazine Lee Enfield Mark 3 -- 1907 and Range Report: Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) No. 1 Mk III.
  6. Thanks for the bump, Mechanic_X. I've been debating whether or not to postpone the tour until spring since there are currently only 21 folks that have expressed interest in going. I'm not looking to make money on this; just cover the actual costs, have a good time and see a couple of distilleries I haven't seen yet. As it stands right now, the bus costs $650 so only having 21 folks attending will run $30.95 each (a full load of 48 brings this to $13.54 each). I'm working on an extra bonus that would add about $6 to the overall cost. So, I guess we're looking at approximately $20 per person for a full bus to $37 per person for the current head count. For those that have expressed an interest in attending, thanks and please let me know if you are still planning to come. For everyone else, if you're interested, let me know as soon as you can. Thanks for stopping by.
  7. They have an option for that too. Fulton Armory Super Scout Mount:
  8. Apparently you can buy a scope mount the replaces the rear sight. Garand Scope Mount: It also looks like the 308 version is of recent manufacture: Springfield M1 Garand .308
  9. Updated first post.
  10. Good news! Hurry back!
  11. The day started out slightly damp at the rally point (Krystal's in Winchester). However, G-Papa Glynn and I mounted up and headed toward Viola. We ran out of the rain in Hillsboro and didn't have to worry about it the rest of the morning. We were getting set up when a couple of other guys showed up (Brandon and his brother Aaron). We had plenty of toys amongst us to play round with so we got down to business: Brandon, Aaron and G-Pa Glynn Dressed Up AK Ruger M77 with left-hand bolt ???, 38 revolver, Mini-14, 10/22 Savage Arms 93R17 I also had the Remington 550-1 rifle I inherited from my dad but I guess I forgot to take a picture of it. As G-Pa Glynn said, a good time was had by all. See everyone next month?
  12. Where is everyone? G-pa Glynn and I are on the way.
  13. Just looked at the radar and Viola looks dry. I guess I'm still going to give it a shot since there are covered firing points.
  14. Seems like we stayed till around 1:00 last time.
  15. Vontar, you must be reading my mind. I'd already been thinking about adding a stop there as a bonus once we visited the distilleries. I was waiting until I got a chance to talk to Joe before posting. Anyway, I talked to Joe last night and he seems aggreeable to staying open a little longer on that Saturday, if necessary, so we can stop by.
  16. Already got a thread going under TGO Forum Support: TGO=Reported Attack Site????? I think it's related to Tapatalk support.
  17. I'm getting it also (using Chrome). Might be related to Tapatalk since I got an Android update for that yesterday.
  18. Yep, that's another of our favorites.
  19. We're looking at $15 to $20 per person at this point. I haven't had to put out any cash at this point. I'm hoping to hold off on needing payment until the day of the tour but, of course, this could change.
  20. I'll put you on the list. Thanks!
  21. First post updated also. Everything seems to be coming together for November 6th. All three distilleries have us down and are going to be ready for us. I've decided not to arrange for tasting but I am thinking of an added bonus in place of that. I think I've also decided on a location for lunch as well. We'll make a stop at Marvin's Family Restaurant in Fayetteville. We ate there today on our way to the Lincoln County Fair (to watch some harness racing). It's an all-you-can-eat buffet and they said come on down when I talked to the manager. Now, we just need to get a few more to express an interest in joining the fun!
  22. "Chocolate Stuff" from our favorite place on St. Simon's Island Georgia, Barbara Jean's. It's basically a rich half-baked brownie topped with homemade whipped cream.
  23. This is the one I used for many years when I was a Scout. Eureka Timberline 2 Tent It's not a large cabin tent but it's perfect for a couple of boys and, if he sticks with it and the troop does backpacking trips, it's a good size for packing.
  24. It's the last set of covered firing points at the end of the road.
  25. Seems like I've read somewhere that's there's about a 10 degree difference between the 1911 grip angle (~100 degrees) versus the Glock grip angle (~110 degrees). Perhaps the increased angle on the Glock caused your grip to be weaker since the top of your wrist would be rotated forward more than you're used to.
