The Sparrow has great sound reduction but where it truly excels is ease of cleaning. Thats an important factor. As someone that just had to use a vice and some homemade tools to take apart his 22 can, trust me, takedown ability should never be undervalued.

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Capbyrd replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I've been updating the thread every step of the way. The bill passed the Senate a couple of weeks ago. The house version then begun its journey starting with the Criminal Justice Subcommittee and then this week was heard and passed unopposed by the Criminal Justice Committee. It is now on the calendar for the House Finance, Ways and Means committee on 3/27/2013. -

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry

Thats actually a great question and one that I don't know the answer to. I'm sure that they have to run it through just to see the fiscal effects. -

Latest Class III: Guesses on Wait Time

Other than fingerprints and CLEO signature, which aren't really that hard here in Shelby County, the process is no more inconvenient, time consuming or mind numbing. -

House Criminal Justice sub committee is in session right now. Its currently on the agenda for today. -
So far, everything I have seen sell has been less than 600. For example, the last Blast that he listed publicly was a jade g10 model for $540. Sorry for the hijack!

I have seen and handled some of his collabs and some of his customs. I've been nothing but impressed. As for Laconico, this is a picture of the knives he took to Pasadena this past weekend. This covers his four folder models. The knife to the far right is the slim EDC. If memory serves, it was his first folder model. The brown one, I'm not sure about. the next two are Jasmines I believe and then the rest are his Blast model. For me, I'm dying to get my hands on a Blast.
-
The Rat is a great folder and if you need something smaller, this will no doubt be a great knife for you.
-
Thanks guys. I'm really fond of it. I just need a folder to go with it now. B

Really hope we can meet up at blade as I'd like to check out both the Yun and the Martin. I love martin's designs. As for flippers for me, I've yet to handle one but Ray Laconico's Blast flipper is top of the pile right now for me. I've already been speaking to him about it and ill picking up mine from Ray at the Gathering this year. And then of course, I've got my fingers crossed for a Horton flipper.

TSA allows knives on planes... what to buy?
Capbyrd replied to jgradyc's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I really wish people would stop with the whole self defense thing. Why is that everything we carry has to be solely about self defense? Is there anything you carry on a daily basis that is actually a tool? Small keychain knives can come in handy for lots of daily tasks. And as they are put on your keychain, its easy to forget them. Thats why so many are confiscated now. The rest of the world already allows these knives through so TSA is just trying to match the rest of the world and relieve a little of the burden in dealing with so many. Me, I wouldn't carry it on a plane for self defense, there are plenty of other things on a plane I would rather use. My fists, my laptop, my backpack, etc. But I would like to know that if I forget it on my keychain, I'm not gonna be harassed by the TSA. -

No. If you read, that is the current law that I quoted. The bill we are discussing merely deletes the switchblade knife part. -

Read it again. That part is the exceptions part and it says it is LAWFUL to purchase and have shipped a knife over 5 inches. -

Sorry for the wonky formatting. I hate the way IPboards works when it comes to images, quotes and the like. -

Alright. So I'm going to post up the full bill here. And try to make it as clear as possible. So lets go over each section one by one. Section 1 will delete the following wording completely from the "definitions" section of weapons. It does not replace the wording at all. Section 2 alters the list of prohibited weapons from "(7) A switchblade knife or knuckles; or" to just say "(7) knuckles; or" Section 3 will change the rule of gifting or selling to minors from "(1) Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly sells, loans or makes a gift of a firearm or switchblade knife to a minor;" to "(1) Recklessly sells, loans or makes a gift of a firearm to a minor;" Section 4 changes the intent to go armed law. It currently reads " (a) (1) A person commits an offense who carries with the intent to go armed a firearm, a knife with a blade length exceeding four inches (4''), or a club." Under the new bill, it would read " (a) (1) A person commits an offense who carries with the intent to go armed a firearm, or a club." Section 5 deletes the words "switchblade knife" from the following wording. Here is where I would like to see a little more changed. Section 6 changes the rules for purchase. Currently it reads as follows. Section 6 removes the switchblade knife part. Section 7 is the preemption clause. It will remove restrictions for those of you who have city or county ordinances that aren't in line with the rest of the state. Section 8 states that if passed, the law shall take effect on July 1 2013. Hopefully that makes it pretty plain. -

There are knives for less than 100. http://www.bladehq.com/cat--Side-Opening-Automatics--40?sort_by=price_each I would wait if I were you. The law hasn't been passed yet and even if it had, it won't take effect until July 1st (I think). As for gravity and inertia knives. See my post below where I'm going to outline all of the parts of the bill. Not yet. Law hasn't been passed. -

It has to move through the House and then to the Governor's desk. -

I would urge you all to contact everyone you can about it. We have three days until its heard again and its likely to be a split vote. We need to make sure that our legislators know the facts. Tell them to look at the fiscal note that is attached. 1 arrest per year for switchblades. It saves the state money for housing the "criminal" and saves locals money (time spent dealing with it by local LEA).
