    Good cops?!

In my almost 30 years riding/driving I have been lit up twice, both times in the early 2000's in CA. The first time was in 03 and I was coming home from a training evolution up in Fallen, NV. It was after midnight on highway 395 and there isnt ANY traffic on the road. I had just gotten gas in Big Pine in Inyo county and took off. I was driving my brand spanking new 2003 Dodge Ram with the temp tag in the window. Needless to say, state road, speed limit 55, I was just seeing how fast my new Dodge would go and see how high I could set my cruise control. Well the CHP lit me up right as I hit 105. Ooops. He was way behind me, so I turned on the hazard lights, pulled over, turned off the engine and turned on all interior lights and just sat there will he got up to me. Well i had my uniforms hanging the hook in the back seat, so he couldnt really see me. In hindsight, not really smart on my part. Anyway, he got up to the window, i hand him my lic. and ins. He askes for registraion and I tell him its in the window on the passenger side. He asked if I knew why he pulled me over, to which I say probably because i was going "a little fast". He asked me how many speeding tickets I have gotten and I tell him this is my first. He then asked why I was going so fast, I explain that i have to pick up my wife at the San Diego airport at 9 am and was just trying to get home to get a few hours sleep before I have to go to the airport. He than asks my rate, where I have been and what command I was in. He was a former FMF Corpsman in Vietnam. After he ran my info, he wrote me up for no seat belt ($50), saving me a huge ticket, possible impound and in general a nightmare. He also told me to keep my speed to no more than 10 over and have a safe deployment. Hindsight being 20/20, I was very lucky to not have run into Inyo County Sheriff Dept. Those from SoCal can attest to how that "might" have turned out. LOL
  3. Here's mine. I have recently replace the regular bulbs in the lamps with the "green" Natural Light bulbs and the lighting is much better.
  4. Took this at 1836 here in Clevegas. This is taken on the back porch table. Not a true measurement, since it sits really close to the house and the house blocks a lot of it. And here's a picture from 3 minutes ago
  5. I couldnt have said it better myself. That was rather lame. Other than that, checking reality at the door, the wife and I really enjoyed the movie.
  6. SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I am out the door to go see it here in about 10 minutes.
  7. Got one just like that last year. I've only had about 500 rounds through it so far. I did have two failures to feed (older reloads that were damaged that I didnt catch when loading). Over all I am very happy with it. I hope yours is just as smooth as mine.
  8. Welcome to Free America, neighbor. I too lived in Temecula for a while, just off Ynez. Before that I lived in IB. If you havent already missed the food, you soon will. LOL I have a pretty good carne asada recipe if you want it. I am still trying to get macha con heuvo right. LOL
  9. The digital pad unlocks it and the key actuates the three bolts. I just leave the key in it 99% of the time. When ever we leave town I lock the key into the firearm safe. Over all I am happy with it. One complaint is that every time you press a number it beeps. I have been debating on wether or not I should disconnect the speaker.
  10. I have a Gardall regular duty with the electronic key pad. Gardall heavy duty and regular duty wall safes I had orderd the 4" deep one. They sent me the 5 1/2" deep one. I went ahead and installed it and added trim around the lip. Overall I like the depth of the one I have and am glad I didnt actually get what I ordered. LOL As someone stated, it isnt a high security "safe". I got mine, mainly because I have toddler running about and it will keep him out and will slow down the average run of the mill smash and grab crook.
  11. USMC and Dat are right on target. I am NOT a professional wood worker, but I have dabbled in it for 30 or so years as the need came up. You should be able to match it pretty closely of you put forth the effort. As stated, since there isnt any top coat on it you dont need any chemical stripping, but you will need a lot of sanding. Good luck on your project. When done post a picture or two to let us see your handy-work. I am about to build a custom sized book case. Which means I will have to go ahead and bite the bullet and get the edger/joiner that I have been putting off for way too long. LOL
  12. -You stop shooting when your stock of any given caliber hits 1k rounds.
  13. Are you talking about MY wife? LOL Pretty much the same situation for me. She had one handgun when we got married, now she refers to all of them as her's. Well except for the ones for our son. Krull, Good on you and the little missus. Hopefully she will never have to use a firearm in self defense, but at least she is getting the tools to help in case there is ever a need.

    Im Drunk

Run...Run far and run long, away. Nothing good (well other than the few moments of pleasure LOL) would come (no pun intended) from it.

    Man vs Wild

Man vs Wild is an entertaining show, and should be viewed as such. No one, including survival "experts" should try to duplicate his antics. He has a whole crew following him around and it has been documented that he doesnt stay in the field during filming. With that said, I have gotten a kick or chuckle from watching him do stupid sh*t that would more than likely lead to death to a survivor/evader.
  16. First thing I would do (I have done this to my gun room in the basement) would be paint the walls with Dry Loc, UGL - DRYLOK® Masonry - Masonry Waterproofer
  17. Bubba, This is a cut and paste from You Tube about the story. Full Story: http://www.davecarrollmusic.com/story... - In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and my Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. I discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged. They didnt deny the experience occurred but for nine months the various people I communicated with put the responsibility for dealing with the damage on everyone other than themselves and finally said they would do nothing to compensate me for my loss. So I promised the last person to finally say no to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. United: Song 1 is the first of those songs. United: Song 2 has been written and video production is underway. United: Song 3 is coming. I promise. Follow me at http://twitter.com/DaveCarroll . Video Produced by Curve Productions of Halifax, http://www.curveproductionsinc.com.
  18. The Aussie had to fly to Cambodia to have his little shootin' video made. Have been down under many times and at one point was looking to move to Tasmania. Ever since that kook went out and killed some kids at school thier gun laws have gone the way of the UK. You can still have some firearms, but they are tight on registration and control.
