  1. Yes, however these days with a wife and kid, etc.. My riding time has to be maximized. Last year I rode up to Belle Fourche, SD to ride around that part of the country. I had nine days to ride. I opted to haul arse there and back so I could have 7 full days "on station". An 800 mile day isnt too hard on my rear and that equates to 13 hours saddle time. If I push 14 hours I get pretty tired. So the watch is to keep me from pushing it too hard.
  2. When I ride out of state, I am usually on a tight schedule to get where I am going as fast as I can so I can spend as much time as possible at my destination. The watch helps me keep track of time. Plus I dont like wearing it when I am riding. I find when I keep track of my time management I can make good time every day, usually 800 + miles a day. I try to not go over 13 hours a day.
  3. A nice little ride through South Dakota last year. Its an 01 Springer Softail
  4. Yes, My family and I are members there and we go about once a week. My 3 y/o son loves it. Its large enough to have a decent selection of animals, yet small enough to enjoy in just a few hours.
  5. Same here and have done it for years. When one loads 500 plus rounds at a time the ammo boxes starts to seem expensive and unneccessary. Since I relocated back to the land of humidity (TN) I have been taking the little dessicant packs from my wife's rather extensive collection of shoes and shoe boxes and putting them in my zip loc baggies with the ammo. Overkill? Maybe, but since my ammo locker is in the basement I'd rather be safe than sorry.
  6. I havent been to the Nashville Zoo in 30 plus years, but I was at the Knoxville Zoo last weekend with my 3 y/o son and we both like Knoxville. But if we are tossing out good Zoo's, if you are ever in SoCal the San Diego Zoo is world class. I was stationed there for 16 years and I have been to the SD Zoo more times than I can count. LOL
  7. IMHO Yes, sort of.... LP's will most LIKELY be pretty much the same. When working up a load with known data and your components are same always start at the lowest charge. Thats pretty much what I do anyway when ANYTHING changes, ie bullet, powder batch, etc... Just make sure you pay attention between Magnum primers and standard primers.
  8. One of these for ready use items Gardall heavy duty and regular duty wall safes the WS-1317-EK at the bottom And this holds everything else Liberty Safe - Franklin
  9. Part time shooter/biker these days. LOL Is a 3 year old too young to strap onto the Springer for a ride to the range?
  10. The livers of artic seals and polar bears should not be eaten, as they have a high concentration of Vitamin A which could lead to death.
  11. You beat me to it. I had to upload the new style to Photobucket. LOL
  12. You are looking at the old style Dillon tool head stands that hold the quick change kit. They now make and sell an aluminum one that has holes and a slot that keeps the locator pins and shellplate. What I did was modify the old style stands to hold the buttons and shellplate. Nothing fancy, but it is user friendly. The new style
  13. I am looking forward to that! I cut me teeth on gun shows out West (SoCal and Nevada) back in the late 80's/ early 90's and they have seemed to go down hill since. I know the ones in Kommiefornia have all but been water down to trinket and junk shows. LOL
  14. I have felt the same way since I moved back here in 05. So much so that I dont even bother going to them any more. The one time I actually found something I was looking for was in Knoxville and it was a 10/22 front sight. How comman of a part is that? And no one had it at the other 5 gun shows I have attended. Yes, I know I can purchase stuff online, but when ever possible I try to "support the home team" and buy locally.
  15. MODS: If this is in the wrong board, sorry. Move as you see fit. I have been using a Dillon 550B for about 20 years now. I had all the quick change kits that I needed for all the calibers that I shot most. I always assumed (yes I fully understand the meaning of that word) certain calibers would be available, ie 9mm, 223, 308, etc. Well I ended up needing to reload .380 as well as 9mm. The new tool head stands are made to hold the shell plate and locator buttons. I debated on purchasing more of the new style tool heads till it dawned on me to modify the old ones. Which saved me well over $100. Needless to say, I am rather proud of it. EDIT: After I posted this I go to thinking, I am NOT wanting to, nor am I trying to sell these. I was just wanting to toss it out there in case someone else was in the same position I was in and to hopefully save them a few pennies. Buck
  16. Thanks, all. I dont get to ride (or shoot) much these days. Afer I retired from the Navy in 05 the wife "drank" the water and our son was born in 06. I am a stay at home dad so my adult play time is limited. LOL It wont be long, though and I'll have a shooting and riding partner.
  17. The Hooded Pitohui is the only bird in the world that cant be considered a food source for humans.
  18. Pardon a newbie intrusion... But a Gun Show that doesnt SUCK is a Great idea!!! I have been to 7 or 8 shows, from Nashville to Atlanta, since I retired back to TN in 05 and every one has been terrible. I am a reloader and sometime caster, so I tend to hunt for things along that line. I have to say that the shows back here have been a bust. I will make it a point to attend this show if for no other reason to show support.
  19. My names Dale, but have been called Buck since I joined the Navy and it has sort of stuck. I have been shooting at the public range at Gee Creek outside Benton. I have a "few" firearms. Also have a Springer Softail that I try to ride as much as possible.
