  1. Not as wide as my glock ( thought the .40 glocks were the same width). Still i like having a safety on my shield. The glock, I may end up getting rid of one day.
  2. I am planning on it. leaving the rifles home.
  3. Now my father is not anti-gun. He just tells me "why does anyone need a 30 round magazine?".  If only he knew I have several.   Now my brother on the other hand, he's not anti gun, just anti- "evil looking black rifle". But he's a Liberal democrat ( funny, we was raised conservative, i guess his mind was brainwashed in college).   Got him to shoot my Glock at the range once, i think he liked it. So little by little i think i may be able to get him to respect what i like. Hopefully with time.   I'm not expecting him to turn into a gun loving fanatic like some people, just to realize why we have these and there aren't any "bad" guns out there. Just bad people.
  4. It is just not as wide ( thick) as a glock. I have a glock23 as well as the Shield 9mm. Like carrying the shield a lot better. I hardly know it is there.   Noticed very little recoil on the shield 9mm, GF liked the shield better than the glock, but she ended up getting a Walther p380 instead.
  5. Beings I don't have kids of my own yet, I don't feel it any of my business to tell anyone how to raise theirs. I believe if we had the technology back when i and my brother were little, my mother would have paid anything to keep us entertained when she went to the store. Kudos to you OP, Letting that would be meddler have it. You showed restraint and still got your point across.
  6. Sawno postings on restriction of firearms. so everyone's good to go. I would however advise cc. No rifles please, we don't need an incident like the 8th.
  7. List of people waiting on one is 40 + at Hero Gear, Winchester. I was there today and the only one in the store was mine. It's a hot little pistol, like SALK, I was lucky to get one before all this crazyness.
  8. I don't know offhand. I will be in town tomorrow and will find out, let you know if they allow.
  9. I'm afraid the parents who want to homeschool their kids should have the right to teach their children over the state. Why should it be made illegal? Is the state schooling system that much better? I admit i went to public schools as the majority on this forum did, but my eyes were opened to the "hidden evil" in some of the state policies after i graduated and went on to college. Ever look at a new school and think to yourself, That looks like a prison? Well most public schools and prisons were designed by the same people. I think those that want to have their kids taught at home where they can recieve a more direct approach should be allowed to do so. After all, it is the parents that are responsible for their children, not the state.
  10. I was never saying all teachers are out of their minds. My mother was a teacher at my High school for several years. The ammount of time and effort she spent helping her students excell and get scholarships in their field( she taught cosmetology/hairstylists) which we think is an easy thing, it is not. Besides being an educator of young minds, these people are counselors, mediators, advisers and an alternate shoulder to cry on. Some teachers are bad, but majority are good and actually want to help the kids. It is the way society in this age has changed things.  The administration of these schools needs to not take everything so seriously but i guess in their minds, if they let one small thing go, they would have to let another small thing go.
  11. These days more is being done to counter bullies than in the past. some would say the schools go a little too far in preventing future bullies. Nobody wants another "revenge" massacre. But for the OP, them labeling your son as a "potential Terrorist" for simply stating he wanted to go shooting later in life was just stupid.   Sometimes i think these teachers and administrators have lost their freaking minds.
  12. Boycott the re-sellers. Between them and the Gov't buying all the ammo, that is the reason why majority of us cannot catch a break.   Buying ammo is like playing the lotto. Some days you're lucky, some days.... more often.... not.
  13. Funny thing is, my friend liked the bodyguard and now she likes the Walther ppks. But i think she'll end up getting a shield like mine in the end.
  14. S&W shield in 9mm is my first choice. great price is $400 OTD.
  15. Oh,goodness... The choices are, well, great...   Don't you think she ought to go with you to a range that rents pistols so she can find one that fits her the best and is the most comfortable for her to shoot?   Why i'm saying this is one of my female friends wanted a .380 bodyguard until she had the opportunity to shoot one. Looks and size aren't everything.   If it was me in your shoes, I would make her come along to the LGS and let her pick one out. Would hate for her to get something she isn't comfortable with and lose money and time on.
  16. Yes i read it, he can still be arrested if he is unconcious right or does he have to be awake to be cuffed?  If the cops are smart, they'll wait him out until he makes a mistake or gets to a point of exhaustion. Not like they aren't getting paid a whole lot of overtime for this. Donner probably wants them( lapd) to rush him, make it easier for him to kill more of them as he stated he would do in his "Manifesto".
  17. Tear gas dosen't cause fires, but government agencies do. remember waco?
  18. The s&w sport is my choice. Accurate even with the stock iron sights. For the price( before the current nonsense) it was a great deal for what you get.
  19. Just getting the word out there is going to be a 2nd amendment discussion group to be held at the City Municipal Building in Fayetteville, TN. ( located next to Carter's drugstore on the square, downtown Fayetteville, TN) on February 18th, 2013 at 7 p.m. cst. There is supposed to be a constitutional Attourney present for any questions anyone has regarding the constitution and the 2nd amendment.   I know this is a little far for most of you guys/gals out there but i figured some in the counties closer would be interested in attending. Everyone is welcome to attend.   I recieved my information on this meeting from a former work friend on facebook. So i'm going by his info.
  20. After all this media Hype on this guy, Part of me hopes he is vindicated for doing the right thing and getting fired for it. The killings he supposedly did I don't support though. Then I read his Manifesto, Part of it makes some sense, then i got down to the place where he is praising Feinstien and the other gun-grabbers. Now Majority of myself wants him to get caught( not killed) and jailed for his crimes.   His best case scenario: Caught, facing prison time and death penalty for at least 3 murders( if there are more by the time he is caught). His name gets cleared of filing a false accusation. I don't know about anyone else, but I would rather have my name tarnished than spend the rest of my life behind bars and have a death sentence over my head.   His worst case scenario:  Dead.....ex-cop....copkiller...... killer..... and still his name is tarnished as filing a false report.   I'm hoping the LAPD can catch him alive, but how often do cops catch cop-killers alive anyways? LAPD wants him dead and the story dead with him. Liberal or not...he's still going to be labeled as a crazy ex-military/ex-cop/supposedly ptsd infused individual. Whether or not he has actual ptsd is anyone's guess.
  21. Yes, we'd welcome them here.
  22. Huntsvile( AL) store just 30 minutes south of me. I was able to get a deal on my S&W M&P sport this time last year. But no ammo to speak of now, some good deals though, usually the luck of the draw. I rarely buy from them these days. I can usually find what i need cheaper online or at another store.
  23. I had my share when i worked at Lowe's time back. There's so much i can stand, and being in one's space is not one of them.  Another one is reading over my shoulder.   Nowadays since i work out of the retail field, we all respect each other's spaces. But when out in public i can understand being around crowds of people. But in wide open spaces, give me some room.
  24. "Apparently he didn't get the memo"   People like this( and i know we all are a little frustrated with the current regime) are going to be the ones who make all of us look like a bunch of crazies. Costly mistake, but there's always goingto be one who makes the mistake. At least it was just one guy, and not what they( media) would consider an "army".   Until we get the message out loud and clear for those attending these rallys to leave their rifles/shotguns at home, this will happen again. It's only going to add fuel to the fire the libtards are fanning.
  25. Nobody has spotted me yet. I conceal very well.   Well, it being winter it is going to be easier for most anyone to conceal. I'm not so sure about the warmer months.....   All carrying legal though, in legal areas. I wouldn't pull it unless it was absolutely necessary.
