UT bans gun ownership of all student athletes.
gotigers replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
UT takes state funds, they are bound by state and Const law. No different than freedom of religion and press. They can't tell you what religion to follow, they can't stop speech and they can't deny you the right to own a firearm. This policy is a violation of the 2nd and 14th. There is a big difference between rules that govern behavior and banning const. rights. The school does not have the authority to stop ownership of anything legal. IT is not a private institution. If this is allowed to stand, then all schools will do it. Then an athlete that owns guns will have no place to play. Then he will not have a degree or career. Now his right to a job has been infringed. Just like the NBA player that choked his coach. The NBA could not fire him because it denied his right to his job. slippery slope. This is the kind of thing anti-gun nuts love. They love that some are to blind to see that this will set precedence. Once it goes unchallenged, they will apply this to other institutions. This is another test. They will not stop here. once a bunch of these gun owning southern athletes start going to Florida or Bama, the school will think twice. -
yeah +1 for SP101 Others to consider Ruger GP100 S&W 442 for pocket or backup .38spl Taurus 850 / 851 .38spl Ruger LCR

They will not send it out until the last day. Putting it in the mail by that date is all they are required to do. so, with snail mail you may get it by the end of the week. I would still call. I had a denial last year. The appeal took the 3 weeks and mail time to get my conditional proceed. Funny i bought guns before and after without issue.

pass, Daly is gone. I agree about Pardners.

What about .308? Slightly less range than 30-06, but .308 is more abundant, especially for SHTF. Better choices in .308 for match loads for killing paper. 7mm mag is overkill in the south IMHO. If you were going after mullies or elk, then 7mm mag.

I struggled deciding between the Glock 19 and PPS. I picked up a PPS friday. I chose the PPS because it will be so easy to conceal. Nothing against the Glock 19, i will have one some day. I love the PPS. It is so accurate and comfortable. I only have 50 Federal FMJ thru it so far. The trigger is a little heavier than the Glock (PPS 6lbs, G19 5.5lbs), but i think the PPS trigger has less travel. Either way, you can't lose with either.

I just picked up a PPS. I already was a fan, but after shooting it, i am really impressed. It is incredible accurate for such a short barrel. It is so thin. It doesn print at all. I love it. the PM9 size and weight are unbeatable, but the extra weight keeps the PPS recoil very manageable. Agree with PPS for holster and PM9 for pocket. Get both. Both great.

Any of you have trouble with the extractor or remingtons gold?

The seller could have entered a typo. Some one with a record could have the same name. anything could mess it up.

You will have to send in an appeal. Once the appeal runs its course, they will tell you what held you up. Once you know, you can fix it and it wont happen again. Your FFL should have given you an appeal form. It will take some weeks if not months to correct. You might as well get started. I'm sorry i can't think of the web site right now, but i am sure someone will pop in with it soon. I think it is buried somewhere in the TN dept of safety site.

What is happening there this sunday? Any matches open to the public?
-
I thought about joining. It is about 45 minutes from me. A few of us should get together from Fayette and Shelby county should go to a match. oops that schedule was 2009. I don't see a schedule for 2010.

I have fondled a couple. I like the SR9c. I wish it was a bit thinner. I haven't shot one. The trigger seems ok in dry fire. I was hoping for Ruger to do something like the Taurus PT709 slim.

I really like the Walther PPS, but I don't like the PPS trigger reset. It is long and gritty. The Reset was long. But, i dont think that would stop me from getting one. It seems like a great carry.

I love my SA milspec. SA has good customer service and a great custom shop. Mine is accurate, reliable, feeds anything, etc. I've had it about a year and have only put 600-800 rounds thru it. I have used several different brand mags. I can't think of any problems with it. It is more accurate than me.

yes if the barrel is stamped 5.56 it can shoot 5.56. My S&W has 5.56 on the barrel and i shoot both 5.56 and .223 without issue. I have shot eagle xm193. Good stuff.

MSSA is nice. A member took me as a guest a few weeks back. MSSA is well worth the fees. As soon as i can find the cash i will be joining. Range USA allows .223/5.56 and shotguns saturday nights 6-9pm. You have to use their frangible ammo. It is usually crowded at 6. The best time to get their is around 7pm. I went this past saturday night. I usually shoot 1 or 2 mags of their ammo then i finish up my lane time shooting one of my pistols.

Nope. The gas system would no longer work. Get add on rails.

it is a factory finish, I edited my last post. Although, when i got mine, used, the brushed sides had some idiot blimishes. I stripped the gun, used a green scotch brite pad with gun oil and i polished out all of the blimishes. Just go with the grain as you stroke. Don't do this on the matte finish. It will leave a bright spot. The stock matte finish is not very good on mine either. If you want a good matte finish, the SA custom shop does one hell of a job. I have seen a few they have done and they look great. That, a light dehorn and you good to go.

some of us dont care for the front serrations. Plus some of us can't just throw $800-900 on a pistol at once. I bought mine for $475, used shot very little. I spend about $250 over a few months. $725 over 3 months. bonus i got to do some of it myself.
