I have been a fan for a while. I don't have one yet. I was at a gunshow in memphis last weekend. There were a couple of RIA Tacticals and an Armscorp tactical in commander size. RIA and Armscorp is the same. That commander size was really nice. $450+/-. If i would have had the cash i would have left with it. If you want a 1911 and don't want to spend $650 on a mil-spec, RIA is the way to go. A lot of people use them for custom builds. STI uses Armscorp forgings for their Spartan. I wish they made a 9mm. I would like to get a full size 9mm for target and plates.

under $1000 you have a large pool of quality 1911s. lowest priced to highest RIA GI RIA tactical SA GI SA Mil-spec STI Para GI Expert SA loaded S&W has a few choices. I prefer Springfield. in your price range the loaded is nice.

yeah, it is a bit of a drive to TFA. For me it is about 65 miles. 15 miles for me to MSSA. MSSA is a really nice place. It has more than enough lanes. MSSA has some of the nicest shotgun facilities i have seen. If you shoot clays then MSSA is the place. MSSA is so close for me i would go broke paying for ammo. I would be shooting all the time.

$400 to join + $240 per year for MSSA vs $50 + $75 per year at TFA. $500 per year is a lot of gas money. I like MSSA. I have visited. I can't afford the App fee. I would prefer MSSA. It is only 15 miles away from me.

Double stacks:all about 1.25 inches thick Ruger SR9c, 24oz $400 Glock 26, small but just as thick at all Glocks. 20oz, Glock 19 21oz, $500 XD9sc, 26oz $500 S&W M&P9c, 22oz $500 single stacks: all less than an inch thick. Kel-tec PF9 $350 13oz Taurus PT709 slim, nice trigger, 19oz $400 Walther PPS 9 or 40, nice shooter, i love mine. 19oz $600 Kahr PM9, 16oz $700 Springield EMP 26oz $1000 In .45 a commander size 1911. Springfield, Colt, etc. IMHO. If it is in your budget, the Kahr PM9 is perfect for carry. Next is PPS this gun shoots great. EMP would be awesome, just out of my pay grade. All of those above are great choices. The PF9 is a good budget carry, light, thin, well built, but many dont like the long trigger. I like the trigger on all of the others. I like single stacks 9mm. Shoot or handle some and pic the one that you shoot best. Try a Walther PPS in 40. small, light, good trigger, good shooter and has the "knock down power". I went with the PPS over the kahr because i wanted the extra weight, so i could shoot at the range without getting tired.

I have a P89DC. The most reliable mechanical device i own. It feeds all ammo. You will be happy with it. I had a hogue slip on grip. I took it off. It contributed to my low left shooting.

Has anyone got a chance to visit TN sports foundation? They still have not posted a 2010 match schedule. I am going to visit with a member in April. $75 a year and $50 app fee can't be beat. I spend $50 a month at RangeUSA.

I shot a lot of rounds out of my Hipoint 995. It has recoil, but it is the lightest recoil i have ever shot. It is almost un-noticable. the hipoint is a fun plinker. I sold mine because of FTF reloads and lack of hi cap mags. Mine would not shoot reloads.

At first i was uneasy about the mag release on my PPS. But now, i like it better than traditional mag releases. I find it faster and easier, now that i know how to use it. I found that, using my trigger finger, sweeping down on the very end of the mag release lever is the easiest. Very little movement and it give the most leverage that reduces the force neccessary to release the mag. This is very quick. I love the PPS. It does just feel right. For me shooting it is effortless. I am more accurate with this gun than my others.

How long has it been tucked away? I couldn't have resisted. I would have been shootin it. Nice.

I don't own one, but i have friends that have them. They are happy with them. I have shot a few and they all functioned as expected. The last Rossi i shot was a 8", .357 mag. I shot it loaded with .38 spl. There was no muzzle rise. The 8" barrel and .38spl made for a accurate combo.

UT bans gun ownership of all student athletes.
gotigers replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
it is conditional until all schools do it, following the precedence that UT starts if left unchallenged. Once all schools are doing it, then it is being forced on all students. Slippery slope. The anti gun nuts will not stop here. Gun ownership is an absolute right, with the proper exception for felons, given to us by our founders. Any infringement on this right chips away at that right. They will keep chipping away until the right is gone. We must be vigilant. 2nd or none -
That would have been hard to pass up. I haven't seen them for under $500 around Memphis.
