  1. If you scan it a at a higher resolution or maybe just take a pic of it with your cell phone, it might be legible.
  2. Good for them.  I hope the other gun manufacturers will have the principles to follow suit.
  3. Got a notification from MidwayUSA they are in stock, so I decided to get one on a lark.  $19 per and limited to one per person at the moment if you guys are interested.
  4. I got my first a few months ago.  50-53 vintage, though I really wanted a WWII one.  Definitely my favorite rifle, but it has a bit of a kick!
  5. I think I agree with 6.8's general point. I see it like if I had a 5 yo child who was offering my 90 lb dog some food and then taking it away over and over.  If the dog bit my child, he'd be in for a memorable beat down to show him that's utterly unacceptable and won't be tolerated, but it would be my responsibility to try to show the child the wisdom of avoiding situations or actions that will elicit those kinds of responses from something bigger, stronger and meaner than they are.  It's the child's responsibility to learn those lessons and make good decisions. Being at the mercy of others is never a good idea if it can be avoided.   Any boy or man that would do such a thing to a helpless girl or woman needs to be seriously punished.  We are supposed to use our strength to defend girls in situations like this.
  6.   Interesting idea, but I'm reminded of Stephen Ambrose's book D-Day.  A soldier he interviewed said the fact they were green was an asset, and that he, the soldier, didn't think he could have done the things necessary later in the war when he was a veteran and realized he wasn't bulletproof.  I would say being young is similar, and the older we get the more cautious we are.     The military has to brainwash these young men and women to some degree, I think.  They are typically good people being asked to do and endure terrible things.  IMO, it's a shield and a justification for the risks they take and the trauma they endure.
  7. Congrats!  That was my first AR as well, but I didn't have all the nice furniture or optics.  They are great values for the money, IMHO.
  8. If you watch some of the Syrian rebel videos on Liveleak.com, you'll hear near constant, "Allah Akbar's" every time someone's excited, scared, happy, sad, bored, etc.  These folks aren't going to be our friends regardless how much we help them.
  9. What's that saying again?  An armed society is a polite society?  I doubt the robber would have been so polite had she not had any means of defending herself.     The stunned intruder apologized to Cooper after she fired, she recalled, telling her, "I'm sorry, ma'am. I'm leaving. Please don't shoot." 10. Same here.  Saw the email and thought it was a shipping confirmation.  Nope, another month delay.
  11.   I did.  It was one of the breaking news stories and did not include that information.
  12. It sounds like he was...shot that is. I don't know if he was really the person that left the gun there but that would be my guess.
  13. If you want more of these pics from the Dragon (and have LOTS of time), check out this thread from advrider.com.  I have no idea where they are, but there's a sequence of pics from the guy and girl in the OP showing the rest of the accident.  I don't think they came off too badly all things considered.   http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=454662
  14. A good story to put us in the proper mindset for this weekend.  It's good to have a perspective check from time to time.
  15.    That's pretty good gas mileage.  What kind of bike are you riding?
  16. Wish I could have gotten out.  Had to pick up the dog from the vet on the way home from work, so I was stuck with the truck.  Wife and I are heading down to Cajun Fest at the Amber Falls Winery this Saturday, and it should be a good day for a ride.
  17. This review says it's around 260 lumens.   http://startuptunes.com/2012/07/03/heider-cf1-its-not-a-lightsaber-its-a-super-torch/   There's also some other talk about the photo on the supertorch site being taken with something other than the flashlight (car lights specifically).
  18. Glad you got to enjoy after all the work.  I've only shot my Type 99 a couple of times, but it has quite a wallop.
  19. Good analogy. I'm going to use that one next time I have to try to talk sense to an anti-gun person.
  20. At the risk of wrecking my own thread, how ironic would this be? http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=dNFaAqS2f18&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DdNFaAqS2f18
  21. I read somewhere that Rossi doesn't ride outside of the track since he has a hard time adjusting to the streets.  Not sure if that's true, but I could certainly see how that could be the case.
  22. Something to get the blood going for those of us who ride. :)   The shots from the helicopters are just awesome.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ph0SjLC_lqk
