  1. I have a set of Amer-Glo sights in my Glock 35. They have a narrow front post and a wide rear notch, green front, yellow rear. They work very well and are not too pricey.
  2. I have an old Beretta model 70S that is a very good .22, they have not been made in many years, but if you ran across one it would be a good choice. I used mine as a hiking pistol for a long time and it has been fired thousands of times, I don't recall it ever failing.
  3. I have been given a full unopened box and a partial box of .45 ACP manufactured by the Evansville Ordnance Plant in 1943. If any of you collect this sort of thing I would sell the full box, but I am going to fire a few of out of the opened box to see how reliable 66 year old ammo is. It looks OK and I think it will shoot just fine.
  4. Carry a spare mag anyway, the only time you can have too much ammo is when you're swimming.
  5. I gave all 15 bullets I had away after I lost both my guns in a tragic boating accident.
  6. Most people don't notice anything much going on around them. I carry a Glock 22 in a Fobus OWB on one side and a spare mag on the other covered by the old "shoot me first IDPA vest" year round. I have had two people ask me if I was going fishing in the past year or so. I got my permit in 1999 and have carried since I was 16, like others have posted in time you won't feel right without it. On the rare occasions I can't carry a gun I tote a Kel-Tec P32 it's a nice little gadget.
  7. That is exactly what you should do! I carry a Glock 22 and shoot 1911s alot, but I don't like the snappy recoil of the 27 or 36. If I were to want to carry a little Glock MY choice would be the 26. You are right, you should shoot them all and form your own opinion as to what works for you, all these guns should work fine for concealed carry.
  8. My wife used the term morons!
  9. I knew those fur lined panties would get you in trouble.
  10. Only a bunch of idiots would go shoot in that kind of cold! See you Sat. morning.
  11. I reload my practice and competition ammo, and have been doing so for over 20 years, but I carry factory ammo and suggest others do the same.
  12. I carry Winchester FMJ in my Kel-Tec, if you can find Fiochii FMJ ammo it works fine and is about half the price of WW, Rem etc.
  13. Spent primers are brass, and can be recycled. I mix them in with my trash brass cases and when the price of brass gets high enough I cash them in. Got $1.80 a pound last time, but brass is down to about .25 cents now.
  14. I have a mil-spec Springfield that used to bite me every range trip. I wanted to leave it as original as I could, so I filed off enough of the hammer to prevent the bite, no beaver tail required. A dab of cold blue and it looks original. My loaded model Springfield has a nice beaver tail from the factory while it is a joy to shoot, I like the looks of the mil-spec better.
  15. All of us were noobs at some point! When it is your turn to shoot, the stage is yours, new shooters are welcome and not expected to shoot like a pro. Just be safe and have fun.
  16. Come and watch or come and shoot, you'll learn something either way. Don't worry about the fancy stuff at first, think safety always as your number one priority no matter your skill level. I am an IDPA safety officer, and when I SO a new shooter all I care about is how safe they are. Don't worry about speed, just relax have fun and think smooth instead of fast. Speed will come on its own as your skill increases. The match stages will tell you what you need to practice.
  17. Gunsablazin, has not retired, but my work schedule(if you call seven days a week 10-12 hours a day a schedule!) has kept me from even firing a gun in over 3 weeks now! When I get back I may have to change my user name to gunsacreepin. I'm saving a fortune in reloading supplies, but the trade off is not so fun. I will be able to afford a heat shield for my shotgun with all this OT! (for those who missed the Nov. 3-Gun match I cooked my left hand on the barrel of gauge 12 Ouch!) that was handsablazin I hope to be back to the range soon, gonna have to get some practice in, there have been some different names at the top of the scores lately.

    1911, why?

I enjoy shooting and competing with the 1911 more than any other handgun period, to me they are alot of fun to shoot and it is a formidible pistol in and of itself. Magazine capacity is not an issue in the real world of civilian self defence in the vast majority of shootings eight would be plenty. When I do carry a 1911 I carry it cocked and locked, but I don't carry one often. My daily carry gun is a Glock 22 in .40, I carry it because it is light, cheap and most importantly very reliable. I don't like Sigs or XDs, and I'm not crazy about Glocks, they are all pefectly fine weapons however and I am glad we have all these guns to choose from. Shoot what you like and carry what you are trained to use, but if you have not shot a 1911 you are missing out on a great shooting pistol.
  19. Are you supposed to clean them? Nice AK, the Glock of the rifle world, ugly as hell and reliable as sin!
  20. I don't own a 9mm personally, but I would carry one without any concern. I don't own a .30-06 either, but I hear it is a fine big game cartridge. Many people worry about the wrong things, the nine is fine. I carry a .40 for more power in the same size package, but that does not make me right and you wrong. A wise gun sage I read about says "any gun will do if you will do", sounds about right to me.
  21. Farman, We are very fortunate to have a first class place to shoot right in Cleveland. If you would like to check it out we are having a 3-gun match this sat. and IDPA the following sat. the range is open to the public on those days, (for match participants and spectators) directions to the club are on the website. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or would like to shoot as my guest, welcome to TN and the forums!
  22. We only do speculative masonry! the real stuff involves too much work!
  23. 3 GUN this saturday at CHRPC, who's gonna come out to play?
  24. My name is Mudd. (Primus)
  25. Looks like I'll make it sat.! My work has kept me from shooting at ORSA in a while. Big Eds for pizza after the match, mmmmmmm!
