  1. I think we've been had boys!
  2. Well, I can respect that, I carry 24/7 as well(not in the shower), but there are times when it would be illegal to be armed with a handgun, there are other weapon options. I avoid as much as possible going places I can't take my gun, but when I have to, I go anyway. I also try to avoid going any place I would feel uncomfortable without being armed, bars, bad parts of town, etc.
  3. Unless it's a remake of the "Hunt for Red October" the odds of needing a pistol on a submarine seem small enough to leave it behind.
  4. I love the 1911 pistols, in .45. I carry one almost everyday, and it's no lightweight, but you get used to it. If you want a .40, it would be hard to beat the Glock 22 or 23, if it fits your hand. Glocks have a well earned reputation for reliability and durability, and is in your price range as well.
  5. It is my understanding that, as of now, carry where alcohol is served is illegal. I left mine in the car today to have lunch with my brother at Ankars on 58, they sell beer. Makes no sense to me, but that is what we have now.
  6. To each their own, but I won't carry a anything smaller or less potent than a .38 spl. and I'm not in love with that. I have heard it said that any gun is better than no gun, but not for me. I carry a .45 90% of the time. You mouse gun fans might want to think about what you can actually do with those little guns, even if it works.
  7. I lube mine before every trip to the range with it, and clean if it starts jamming or every thousand rds. or so, whichever comes first. I would not treat a SD pistol like that, but the MKII is a plinker. The last time mine was detail stripped was when the sear wore out and had to be replaced.
  8. I've been using and abusing a Springfield Loaded model for the last 3 years in IDPA games, plus thousands more rounds in practice. I hope you have as good of luck with yours as I've had with mine. You can pay a lot more for a 1911 and not get any better a pistol, mine has close to 20,000 rds through it and the only part that has broken is the firing pin spring. The only malfunction so far was when a piece of corn cob media got stuck in the chamber, which kept the gun from going into battery. I have used it to test Slide-Glide lube and intended to shoot it without cleaning until it jammed, but gave up at a thousand rds. and went ahead and cleaned it. Shoot the crap out of it and enjoy it!
  9. Every time I save up the $50 I always wind up spending it on crack...
  10. Sound good to me, I do good just to get here! Not to keen on the fancy stuff.
  11. www.youtube.com:watch%3Fv=cWQ7nlQdxRI.webloc From Brian Enos forum!
  12. That is all I needed to know, thanks for all your input. This is my favorite forum for a good reason, good answers to questions and no mall ninja BS. gunsablazin'
  13. He was an inpatient at a facility in GA, not court ordered. He went at his employers instruction to go or lose his job. Would this automatically disqualify him? He did complete the program and has stayed clean.
  14. We have a strict policy where I work too, if you have a gun you should bring it with you!
  15. Do I have this wrong? I thought a smoking hot firearm was a happy firearm! Nice looking little 1911, glad you like it.
  16. I will give him this info. I'm sure he'll do the right thing, he's not a bad guy, just went through a bad time that's all. Started out using legally for shoulder surgery and got hooked, it took a toll on him for sure. He's getting things back together now and I'm sure he won't want any part of a felony. Thanks to all. gunsablazin'
  17. Thanks, OhShoot, It was more like employer ordered, his boss told him to get help or get fired, he got help. Smart move too, he makes a good living, and being on prescription meds is no way to live. At this point I'll just mind my own business, which is usually the best thing to do anyway.
  18. Yes, he has been drug free since rehab. I just would not want him to do anything that might get him in trouble.
  19. I have a friend who went through a drug rehab program a couple of years ago. According to what I have found at the DOS site he is not eligible for 10 years. What is the penalty for lying on the app form, I would like to scare him into not applying. Thanks.
  20. Fugates Firearms, in Calhoun (across the road from Bowaters Paper Mill) is a nice store, ran by nice people. They have a great indoor range there as well. I took my TN permit class there, and when I buy a new gun, that is where I shop.
  21. What you need to know= Gun safety! If you are a good shooter you should be in the middle of the pack for a few matches and you will move up as you learn the game. Yes, it will make you a better shooter and your gun handling skill will be much better. Yes, there will be "Babes" most of them will be with their husbands, who will be armed. Bring your own girl. If you like to shoot you will probably find it worth your time. I say give it a try, if you don't have fun you can go back to sleeping in.
