  1. 150lb but 180 is probably better. The distance the strings travels on a crossbow is generally about half the distance of a compound. So 150lb - 180lb crossbow equates to a 60lb - 75lb compound bow. Just like with anything you can spend as much as you want. Most hunting crossbows are going to start more than $200. The cheapest hunting crossbow I saw at bass pro was $279. Most starter packages were in the 399-499 range. You have plenty of time before next season so I am sure you can find a good deal if you search around.
  2. When I go to your profile I can see your profile pic of a revolver, all your recent post activity, that you are from Knoxville and it looks like you were are law enforcement and military.
  3. A pass thru is desirable. More damage and easier for them to bleed out. An arrow that goes half way in and stays effectively seals the wound and it takes a lot longer for the deer to bleed out. They can cover a lot of distance with the extra time.
  4. I just pinged one of my guys that uses our 3D printer a lot and is also a gun guy. The thought intrigued him and he is going to look into it.
  5. Not a great pic but here is one... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  6. Nice. I am jonesimg for the new 2017 Colt Delta Elite with a rail. Should be out end of this month.
  7. There is a nice 10mm following here. Currently I have a Glock 20, Glock 40, the RIA above and a Gumcrafters No Name 1911 all in 10mm.
  8. Welcome to TGO. There are plenty of 1911 lovers here.
  9. Factory loads. Going to shoot it a bit first and then decide on making any changes.
  10. Well that explains the provocative photos of David posing with his AR's I have been getting.
  11. It is at the bottom of the page in the right hand corner. I am sure David will add it back to the top as some point.
  12. I used on at the last machine gun shoot I went to. Didn't notice any issues with the audio. The videos are on this site somewhere. Have not used it a lot though but have liked it so far.
  13. You are wrong about one thing. There is no debate on toilet paper...over is the proper and gentlemanly way.
  14. Welcome to TGO.
  15. Yes. That will help. Basically you are just dry aging it. Put it on a wire rack over a baking sheet and let it sit for several days in the fridge. The capillary blood will drain out of the meat removing some of the gaminess flavor. If you do not have room in the fridge you can also accomplish the same thing by throwing them in a cooler with salted ice water for a day or two.

  18. They were referring to this... http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/crime/2017/01/31/tbi-investigating-officer-involved-shooting-ashland-city/97275050/
  19. Is anybody else seeing two entries for every thing put up for sale? I usually default to the unread content screen. Whenever someone post something for sale I see it twice. The first time it says so and so posted an item in Firearms Classified. The the next item is the same thing but says so and so posted an advert in Firearms Classified. Anybody else seeing this?
  20. Thanks. Just put that together one day on a whim. Found a scrap piece of wood the same thickness of magazine. Traced a mag out on it and cut it out with a jig saw. Used a dremel to smooth all the edges till it fit into a 1911. Then mounted it on a piece of extra 2x4 and presto...I had a 1911 holder. Works pretty good and was cheap and fun to make.
  21. What you need is a Blaser R8 in 300 win mag and I just happen to have one for sale... I will say that the Tikka T3 Lite I used to own was one of my favorite deer rifles. Should have never sold it.
  22. I guess it depends on how the tags are used but I kinda agree with Garufa. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
