  1. biggest problem i have carrying a full size is barrel length. when i sit down the muzzle hits the chair and pushes the gun into my side.
  2. trade i like the xd and xdm but glocks are much more open to user modification and i'm a tinkerer. off the subject i would like to get some time with a xdm 45
  3. Keltec p3at with belt clip when I run. I put it in a plastic sandwich bag and poke the belt clip through to protect it from sweat. U can pull it and shoot it through the bag. Got the idea from a fellow runner so tried it.
  4. my 21sf takes a lot of pressure to release a loaded mag and i never really thought of it being pushed unintentionally. thanks for the heads up. droppin a mag would suck.
  5. Pro tech stuff is usually cheap. I have a couple of their ankle holsters. To make them right I've completely cut them apart and re sewed them. I would recomend going with something else unless u like to modify stuff. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
  6. There are many stories out there that address the hole in the grip; allow to strip out a stuck magazine easier, the original glock mold had to have it to form the plastic, blah blah blah... In the larger frame glocks there is a cut out making story 1 possible. In the subs this thumb cut out isn't there. I plug my 27 cause it it gets a lot of lint in there. As for the grips I don't have any on my carry guns cause they are hard on my love handles. Now for play guns like my 21 I like the stick on sand paper.
  7. Had a pf9 and sold it. I want another one. Had to Polish the feed ramp but other than that it was great. For jogging like u mentioned I pack a p3at.
  8. well crap i'm late to the game. i read the whole post thinking ebay a nikon prostaff scope. they run 275 if ur lucky to 375.
  9. took one apart and it is closer to the LCP than P3AT. Wild guess says it would be just as reliable as... well take your pick of the 2. I have a P3AT and it took a bit of work to get it to feed reliably.
  10. if you want smaller than the glock 26/27i'll have to say take a look at the kel tec PF9 on the low end and the small Kahr frame on the higher end. I'm 5'4" but i'm a bit bigger in the middle at 160 lbs. Desert Rat can vouch for how easily i hide the glock 27. If i'm dressing up i put the P3AT in my pocket, but the PF9 gives you 9mm (the smallest if i can only have one size i will take) and the PF9 is very slim. The smaller kimbers are nice too but i have something against them and i really have no reason to.
  11. I prefer a short standard stock 12-13 inch lop. If you decide to go with a pistol grip only try the speed feed. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
  12. Got a 21sf a couple months ago. Like it a lot. I elected to get the 21sf with the picatiny rail instead of the standard glock rail. My personal recomendation is to go with the glock rail. The pic rail is more prone to hang on stuff when drawing. I have not heard anyone say they prefer the standard fat 21 over the sf. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
  13. If I have to pick between 9 n 40, I take 40. If I have to pick between 40 n 45 I take 45. Why? I want to throw the biggest rock I can. Now I realize there is more to the caliber war than this but that's my view. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
  14. pretty sure a stevens (savage) would be my route for a budget deer gun. I had a remington 770 and it worked great but build wise it wasn't much the cheapest new gun i can recomend from hands on play is stevens. did i mention STEVENS
  15. Yep. Before I refinished it I sanded out the left side a little more and when I put it back together I held center while tightening the retainer nut back down. The gouges were for a more worn look. Now that I look at it should have done em a little different. O well
  16. My custom auto bug hasn't been fed in a while and is munching on my gun collection. Goal here was a tough, functional, retro approach i could turkey hunt with and what ever else i wanted to do. It also had to be a handy compact size cause i was tired of luggin around the mossberg 835. First sold the 835 it was a great gun just not me. Then traded a winchester 1200 ranger; which i had almost nothing in, for my base 870 express. my first idea was to cut off the factory barrel and get an additional one if i wanted to hunt with it. well i didn't measure twice and it ended up at about 17 3/4":drama:. Off to the junk heap with it. Ended up just ordering a Remington 18.5" rem choke barrel. I also got a little chop happy on the stock 11.5"-12" LOP is not right for me, but thanks to forum members i ended up with another stock and forearm which got cut down about an inch to a 13" LOP. here it is test fitting some parts before the strip down. the final product below. the parts collection 18.5" rem choke bead sight barrel tac star mag extension nordic barrel clamp nordic jumbo head safety nordic follower aluminum trigger housing from ebay swapped the oe internals to the aluminum housing gg&g sling mounts To get the look there would be no plastic tacticool on this one, and for some reason i was set on keeping the express wood instead of getting the police wood. i don't know why that's just what i wanted to do. stripped, cleaned, taped, scuffed, cleaned, primed, and paint OD green. i've found that the krylon ultra flat stuff is pretty darn durable if you prep good and let it dry for 4-5 days before getting rough with it. wood stripped bare and LOP cut down to 13". ground down the oe butt pad to fit. For the final product the wood got some intentional gouges and scratches before being stained dark walnut and treated to 5 coats of spar urethane. I like to do 3 coats of gloss spar first cause the gloss dries harder and then 2 coats of satin to dull it out. It didn't turn out as ugly as i had it pictured in my head before i started:screwy:. Not sure if that's a good thing or not and still haven't shot it.
  17. mossberg does 2 pump action 3.5" chamber guns; the 535 and the 835. The 535 has a normal 12 gauge barrel and is fine for slugs. The 835 barrel is "overbored" closer to a 10 gauge barrel diameter. In theory since the barrel is a bigger diameter than the slug, the slug may tumble while going down the barrel. Even if it does get out the barrel without messng up something it seems that shooting a slug out of the over bored 835 barrel couldn't be as accurate as the normal 12 gauge bore. They do make a 3.5" chambered rifled slug barrel for the 835 which is fun. i think remington tried this also, called it SPR. (not real sure on that one though)
  18. i've played with both. i own a p3at. the life time warranty won me over. comfort wise the lcp is a little better but in this 380 price catagory none of them are exactly made for extended range sessions. of course the p238 is great but that's like saying "why don't you just get a new Mercedes instead of KIA?"
  19. LOL I'm printing that out
  20. That's about 100 rounds of federal 230gr fmj. Heck ya i like it. I bounced around between the 21sf and xd45 also. The xd feels much better but i'm a parts and diy junky. The glock you can pretty much get anything you want parts wise, be it replacement parts or aftermarket parts. If i did it all over again i think i would have got the glock rail; i could have picked either rail and i got the pic rail just cause it just looks bad arse. The pic rail hangs on stuff like bag edges and holster edges more than the glock rail. I do like the ambi mag release. I have not had trouble finding holsters like many complain about with the pic rail.
  21. got home from shooting a little yesterday; laid my newest toy on the desk to clean it and couldn't help notice it looked sweet dirty. So i snapped a few pics.
  22. :cool:dang that's sweet
  23. i'm tagin this to look at later. Lookin forward to seein what happens here.
  24. laugh if you want after trying a couple $50-$100 rests i still use.... a 50 lb dog food bag. If you go luging a dog food bag to a range somewhere thay may laugh at you a little though.
