  1. Ahh, of course Steve got the limited edition, lol...
  2. You got it! I ordered mine from Chestnut Ridge right after you but haven't received it yet. Hopefully soon...
  3. I wouldn't have one for exactly the reasons you mentioned. It's just like having a "Got Sig" or a "Glock Shooting Team" sticker on your back window, IMHO.
  4. I luckily gave a fake phone number when I originally joined. I just get four letters and six emails a week...
  5. I'd definitely like to get my hands on one. I'm lucky enough to have a Hinderer XM-18 and it is damned-near perfection.
  6. We should probably sticky a post on TN knife laws. These seem to come up every few weeks or so. My understanding of the law is that you cannot carry an automatic knife in TN unless you are law enforcement or military. You can carry an assisted opening knife with no problems as long as the blade is less than 4 inches. As far as your price range, I'm not sure about the SOGs, but there are many good assisted opening knives in that price range. I know that there are both Benchmade and Zero Tolerance tantos at that price point. A good starting point is Blade HQ under the spring assisted knives section. Best of luck. Knives are a terrible addiction.
  7. Can't wait to read it. Any chance of a Kindle version?
  8. I'll be there with a couple of buddies, but it won't be until 10 or 11. See you guys there.
  9. I've already got my plans set to be there this year. Anyone else going?
  10. Yep, there's a big part of me that's glad SMKW doesn't carry Busse and Mad Dog and Chris Reeve folders and Hinderers, etc. It could be bad for the wallet and for the marital harmony...
  11. SMKW also does a 10% military discount. Furthermore, if you go to their Facebook page (yes, I know Facebook is the devil) they were giving away 25% off coupons that were good for online purchases.
  12. Hey Steve, I like the Umnum, but not as much as the Sebenza. I got it barely used for a great deal on the JD, so it was worth a try. I'm looking at another XM-18 that I'd like to use for EDC, but I'm not sure it's in the financial cards.
  13. What he said. That's pretty damn cool looking. Who did the work?
  14. Unfortunately I can't relegate mine to one manufacturer. I particularly like Chris Reeve, Hinderer, German Bokers, Busse, ESEE and Zero Tolerance. My EDC rotation is currently between a Spyderco Delica, a Zero Tolerance 350, a Kershaw Blur, and a Chris Reeve Umnumzaan. It is definitely a sickness.
  15. Here's a few lanyards I've made. I learned most of mine from Stormdrane and Tying it all Together on youtube. TIAT is my favorite. Also, the Ashley Book of Knots is regarded as the Bible of knot tying. It's not cheap, but it has just about everything in it.
  16. Amazon.com: Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker Knife Sharpener 204MF: Sports & Outdoors This is a pretty popular setup that comes with a DVD that teaches you how to use it. I got this one a little while back but haven't made the time to watch the DVD.
  17. I'm getting ready to renew my membership just so Wayne LaPierre will quit emailing me three times a day.
  18. I've never heard of them and couldn't find anything on them through a Google search or a search at the JD. Looks like a lot of knockoff stuff and a few decent pieces. If you're looking for an Italian stiletto, I got a Frank Beltrame from The Distinctive Edge Knives... Our passion is fine knives, cutlery and great service!. Fair prices and good service.
  19. Hey mosinon, this might fit all the criteria you're looking for. It's the ZT350 with a satin finish blade. Other specs are just like the black coated blade. Wish I'd seen this one before I bought my black one. Zero Tolerance Folding Model ZT0350KW, Satin Bead Blast S30V, Black G10 Handle, Plain Edge
  20. Thanks, the handles are masur birch.
  21. Definitely cheaper at the factory, although part of that was a military discount they're nice enough to provide. Solingen is definitely a cool trip if you ever have the chance, Puma, Boker and Wusthof knives all within about 15 minutes of each other.
  22. I've got a few folks in my unit that I consider buddies outside the office. For Christmas this year I got each one a Spyderco Tenacious with a custom Kong-made lanyard. Next year they get fruitcake... As a side note the Tenacious is a really well-made knife, especially for what they cost.
  23. I really truly wasn't good enough this year to merit this, but my wonderful wife got it for me anyhow. Chris Reeve large Sebenza w/unique graphics. My first Chris Reeve and the by far the nicest knife I own. Sorry for the crappy pictures but I was too lazy to set up my light tent.
  24. Back at the beginning of December I went on a short TDY to Germany. On one of our off days I had the chance to go back to Solingen and visit both the Boker and Puma knife factories. This little cutie followed me home from the Boker place.
  25. Beautiful grips Neil. I've got a pair of Sarge's Amboyna burl on my CBOB, although the figuring on yours is much nicer. Great score!
