I think the first season crew also looked smarter because their warehouse was pretty secure from the get go, while this group was left to find their own cover.

Wow, I didn't realize that knives were illegal to carry. After someone stole a few items out of my car, I don't feel safe about leaving firearms in there. I might consider it if I got a lock box and screwed it to the floorboards.

I ended up having to work on friday so I couldn't make it up there, but at least I'll get some overtime. Unless something happens I most likely head up there sunday.

jcj, The cost is $40 bucks for the year. I just registered last weekend or so. You have to go to the Police Station at 9 west circle Road to register and pay. They will give you a map to the range, it's about 10 min down the road. I was planning on heading up there Friday at about noon and maybe Sunday. If you see a guy there in a beat up red jeep and wanna say hey, its me. Map of Norris, Tennessee by MapQuest

it does look very nice but my hunter pocket holster was only $30 including shipping and the NRA roundup from MidWay. Im actually looking at getting another holster for my LCP. Have you tried any IWB or ankle holsters. I was thinking about the Uncle Mike's ankle and the crossbreed mini-tuck

Ive got a 922 model, that belonged to my grandparents. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I don't think its especially valuble but the fact that it's been in my family for so long makes it cool. I think 22 revolvers are fun to shoot, and it's a great gun to use to introduce new shooters to revolvers with without hurting their hands so much they never want to shoot again. I vote to keep it.

I think they just picked the house behind the VOPA tent so that they wouldn't have to move their stuff as far. I think I would cut up the tent and use the plastic to cover the leaky roofs. (inside the house so it wouldn't be sbeen by the raiders) You could also use the large plastic sheets to catch rain-water. The frame of the tent could be used for beefing up doors, builing things, and poking the fire. This morning I was thinking about taking some plywood and nails from the adjacent houses and driving a bunch of nails through the plywood. If you laid the plywood full of nails over the hole where the staircase used to be, they would have a hard time pushing their way in. You could do the same thing with the front door, to give your group more time to climb up the ladder and shut the trap door over the ladder. Using the Milk to neutralize peper spray was a waste, but not as big of a waste as giving the group of raiders milk. They should have traded. There are no freebies when your fighting to stay alive.

Just watched the first episode. I had forgotten how fake the fights are. The group of 15 that tried to steal the other groups medical supplies were armed with pepper spray. WTF? I guess none of the survivors read the Zombie Survival guide by Max Brooks. Instead of trying to hold the front door shut, they should have cut down the staircase and replaced it with a retractable ladder.

that video made me cringe a little bit. Neither of my carry guns have safties on them. Honestly, if you are safe in handling and have a holster that covers the trigger, I would be more worried about having it ready when you need it than the gun going off unintentionally. This is why I always keep one in the chamber and if there were a saftey, I wouldn't use it. Can you image how bad you would crap your pants if you drew on a BG trying to kill you and your gun didn't go off? Would you remember to check the safety or would you just freeze?

Thank again, the advice hasn't fallen on deaf ears. I have been hitting the track six days a week to run. I've lost a little weight already. I did practice a few mag changes at Norris the other day. It was really the first time I was at a range that would allow me to do anything but stand there.
-
I should add, that I did experience several FTF the first time I shot my LCP. But they went away after I added the magazine extension that let me get an extra hald a finger on the gun. My total round count so far is 354, only time will tell how long these little guys last.

I've been carrying a Syderco Endura plain blade all stainless for almost a year now. I carry it everywhere I go except for the gym. I looked at the Police models but I thought the endura was a better value. I had to put lock-tite (blue) on the threads to keep the clip screws from working loose. You can pick them up of ebay used for pretty cheap and then sharpen them. Get a Spyderco, you will like it.

I started running again, per the advice of those who have already been through the police academy. I had forgotten how good it feels to be in shape, and I still have a good bit more to go. Good luck.

I carry a .380 for deep concealment. I also carry a spare mag because I worry that if more than two people attacked me, I may not have enough bullets to stop them all. A gun without bullets is about as good as a rock, and if it's an LCP then throwing the gun at them wouldn't even hurt that much when it bounces off their head. Secondly magazines can cause failures and it's an easy fix to swap out the mags. Thirdly if I have to defend myself in a rough part of town, I like the idea of being able to top back off until the police arrive to file reports. BACK ON TOPIC: I picked the LCP because of the finish of the gun was better than the Kel-Tecs. If I had the money I would have looked at the sigs. Or maybe a Kahr pm40

could the guy in the background of this picture use deadly force?
chadbuddy replied to Ghooge2008's topic in General Chat
I think you could justify it by saying you were defending the life of the teller. But unless you are certain that the teller is going to die, I wouldn't get involved. To me the risk of being sued in a civil court by the dead BG's family is too great. -
the show is about of "survivors" living in the post apocalyptic world. On the first season they lived in a warehouse and they had to trade with/hide from "attackers" who were actors. It is kinda cool to see some of the gadgets they rig together but there is also a lot of un-needed drama and bickering amung the survivors. My two latest holster making attempts (Picture heavy)
chadbuddy replied to JAB's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
very nice. This makes me wonder why I pay so much for holsters when I could learn to make them if I just worked at it like you are. -
+1 I have a "Hunter" holster that is availble on both midwayusa and amazon. The only bad thing about it is that I don't like to sit on my gun for long periods of time like while driving.

I’ve been thinking about this too and would be interested in any first hand experience. from what I’ve read: the 9mm conversion barrels are pretty reliable but probably not something you want to Conceal Carry or stake your life on. It’s a cool range toy for good practice/plinking but why not just buy an aftermarket barrel in .40 so that you can shoot cheap & dirty lead bullets.

I don't remember what models of 22 my cousins have. I could have sworn one of the two I shot with them was a cricket that didn't have the cocking device. The second 22 rifle we shot had to be cocked and they couldn't do it by themselves. And I agree, I wouldn't reccomend one that she can't operate herself.
-
my vote is for the bolt action cricket. They have a pink one at most wal-marts. I agree that a bolt or lever action will be more interactive and safe than a semi-auto. http://www.thegunsource.com/item/65220_Crickett_Rifles_Shotguns_Keystone_222_Crickett_Rif.aspx

Welcome, from the campus side of Knoxville. I love my ruger 10-22 and LCP. I wish I had a sp101 and a 44 magnum. What indoor ranges do you shoot at? Ive been going to coal creek every other friday or so for the last little while.
