  1. Point is, it not his gun, it's THEIR gun. Marital bliss
  2. I wondered the same thing. Tennessee is a community property state, so she already is part owner in the gun. Since there's no registration, she probably isn't doing anything criminal. I'm not a lawyer, but I've been thru a couple of divorces here.
  3. Ditto. Unfortunately, that kinda crap is almost encouraged.
  4. "If you like your 1911, you can keep it". Something tells me, they're gonna be passing out Highpoints
  5. I'm thinkin' the chick with the tatoos probably has unique skills, like maybe being able to start the Harley with a dead battery.
  6. The only way I can shoot left handed is with both eyes closed
  7. I'm left handed, and right eye dominant. Been shooting right handed all my life.
  8. I think the forum has great support for the NRA. I can't fault anybody for not having it in their budget, but I'm happy to show my support by checking the box.
  9. Maybe the OP will respond. I just look at it as a place to say... They deserve our support.
  10. We would be screwed without them.
  11. I asked last time I was at Specialty Arms. The guy behind the counter told me that people were constantly trying holsters for fit with their weapons. Safety thing.
  12. What I'm thinking... battle rifles went out of style, but maybe they weren't totally obsolete. A .308 works at long range.
  13. I know it's a problem, but how do you kill guys that are dug in at 600 yards? I wasn't suggesting that everybody go back to the 7.62. I'm suggesting that it may help, in this specific case, to have a few of them scattered around.
  14. The retooling costs would be huge. Can't even convince them to replace the uppers and mags. Too bad they destroyed all those M14's. They could use a few right now.
  15. I've been waiting for you to chime in AR. From Chuck Hawks... The inadequacies of the 5.56mm NATO as a service rifle cartridge are well documented and have inspired many suggestions regarding possible replacements (some on this web site). Soldiers in the U.S. Special Operations Command also realized the need for a more potent round and initiated (on their own recognizance) development of a new cartridge designed to work in the M16 action.
  16. ...prison contractors, and don't forget the Liquor lobby. The "War on Drugs' created a huge money machine. I agree that narcotics should be stopped at the border as much as possible. But they're making a large chunk of their money on a drug that doesn't kill anybody, and has mild or no physical withdrawal symptoms. I don't care if they legalize it, but I know BS when I smell it. ALL recreational drugs, including alcohol are harmful. All can be abused. I have lost several friends to alcohol. Illegal.. yes, but I'll promise you our last 3 presidents know how it tastes.
  17. Duh. I thought a .223 was illegal for deer. I've always been told that a .243 was the minimum (it is in some places). A .243 is a necked down .308. I'm not a deer hunter, but I know people that use a .308. So... yes EDIT: Just did a little digging. Used to be illegal.
  18. Not directed at you Whiskers, but I think breathing air accomplishes the same thing sometimes The point is that the guy is in trouble because what he did (and where he did it), resulted in felony charges. He needs to lose his gig. It would probably be stupid to reverse any of his cases. He isn't in trouble over job performance. I have a couple of friends in the rehab biz. Most, if not all of the patients are in there for alcohol, illegal narcotics (opiates and cocaine), and prescription drugs. They don't have pot patients. Personally, I'm addicted to the stuff in your avatar . Wouldn't smoke pot if was was legal. I just know the facts. There are a lot of reasons that pot is illegal, and they ALL involve money.
  19. The 6.8 is less powerful powerful than the 7.62 (lot less recoil too), but you can legally shoot a deer with it . It's the same length as the .223. Trajectory is supposed to be about the same as a 7.62, but the bullets are lighter. The 7.62 AND the 30-06 have too much recoil for full auto fire from the shoulder, even with a relatively heavy rifle like the M14. The 6.8 is probably the perfect compromise. It makes so much sense that the upgrade will probably get funded. From what I got out of the paper, the enemy is able to stay outside the effective range of the 5.56 because of the terrain. Perfect job for the .308, but apparently, the military doesn't think so.
  20. My favorite nightstand gun, if I feel that I need to spew buckshot, is my 870. Nothing against the folks that chose the Judge, but I'll never own one. I own a bunch of effective handguns, and simply woudn't shoot the Judge enough to get good with it, or wear baggy enough stuff to hide it.
