  1. Yep, most pistol rounds work better with a 6" barrel (and even better in a rifle). I agree with you on the 5" .45, but my 1911 gov is pretty long. I'll never get rid of it, but the next purchase on my list is a 4" 1911. I prefer carrying one of my 9's, but have much more confidence in the .45. Trying to find the best of both worlds, even if it costs me a little muzzle velocity.
  2. Maybe he'll be one of somebody else's 72 virgins
  3. This picture tells the whole story about Mr. LaPierre!!! You have a Democratic Senate Majority Leader that sponsored a shooting park, and the went out shooting (at that park) with an NRA exec. How is that a bad thing?
  4. At least we seem to be moving in the right direction. 6 million HCP's are encouraging. So is all the legislation relaxing gun carry (one piece at a time). The fact that a we have a government totally controlled by Democrats, and they haven't had the nads to make any move toward gun owners is real encouraging. We're not just holding our own, we're slowly making progress.
  5. May be. I don't how it would turn out if they took an uncomprimising stand on everything. I do know how it's worked for me in the past
  6. it may have been the only action they had a chance of winning.
  7. That's my question. Why didn't they blow them out of the water? EDIT: Just answered my own question. The mother ship was a confiscated boat.
  8. I tend to agree, but if they're spending their $150-200/mo at Whole Foods (we call it Whole Paycheck), they're not eating alot.
  9. I usually leave my hammer in the 1/4 cock (or whatever you call it). That leaves quite a bit of takeup. What little I''ve done with double action, I treat it like a 2 stage trigger. Start the squeeze after the takeup is gone. Mine is gritty too, but it's a pretty new gun. BTW... I love the P01
  10. The trigger is crisp, but heavy. I replaced mine with a Rifle Basix trigger. Light and crisp, but it's not exactly a drop-in. Safety doesn't work reliably anymore, but the trigger feels great. The Savage is probably better, but I haven't made the comparison. My 917 was an impulse buy.
  11. I'm not gonna do so well. I'll owe something. Just waiting to hear how much. If there's enough left over, it's probably AR time!
  12. Agree. It's safe to say that he'll lose Tennessee.
  13. A Picatinny rail is a Weaver rail with uniform notch spacing. So, as long as the location of the notches let you put your rings in the right place, you're good to go.
  14. That would be the plastic tip I'm guessin'
  15. Already gave them my finger prints so I could carry a GUN. It didn't bother me.
  16. Last few sets i bought were Millett adjustable windage type for Weaver rails. You do gain a little something with them, because you can set coarse windage with the rings.
  17. I don't like that any more than you do, even though I've always had insurance, and will never go without it. They had to do that to eliminate preexisting conditions.
  18. I HAVE listened to what they say, and have tried not to take anything out of context. I don't listen to Rush, Beck, or any of those types.
  19. So, you think that it's primarily a welfare program? No wonder you're pissed.
  20. Pretty comprehensive page... Varmint Al's Field Testing The 17 HMR
