  1. What better hobby to have during COVID times. I noticed a ton of updates by people in 2020 so I'm guessing this was a popular activity for people during quarantine. I'm having trouble finding anyone on my wife's side either. I'm not sure what the problem is.
  2. In the past 48 hours I have learned that the outlaw Jesse James is a distant relative. My dad had heard this as a kid but wasn't sure if it was actually true so I searched for him in that website and it confirmed it. I've also learned that my 9th great granduncle came over on the Mayflower. This guy- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Samson
  3. I've seen that video so many times the past week but each time I watch it I pick up on something new. He pulled out his carry gun. I'm really not sure what he was attempting to do with it. What I really hate is that it appears the group of 4 young people on the right might be new shooters. I hate the that they had to experience that.
  4. Last I heard there were nearly 30 off duty cops identified as taking part in the shenanigans, one firefighter, and one former Olympic swimmer.
  5. Come on over. I'll buy lunch.
  6. I've never heard of this shop. It's close to me. Decent selection?
  7. Yes it appears they are still closed. I was able to find out this relative was part of the 242nd Infantry Regiment, 42nd division. According to Wikipedia "The 42nd Division moved across the Rhine on March 31, captured Wertheim am Main on April 1, and captured Würzburg on April 6, following four days of intense fighting. After hand-to-hand fighting from 9 to 12 April, Schweinfurt fell. My cousin was killed April 9th, 1945 I can only assume he was killed during that hand to hand fighting. Then again, I have no idea how many soldiers were in that regiment. It pains me that he made it so close. I tried finding a survivors group but most of those guys are nearly 100 years old now. Probably not many left. I'm really curious what records they might have on him.
  8. This has been a great suggestion. Within a few minutes I had more info than I ever expected.
  9. I've recently become interested in learning more about my family and I'm curious if we have any experts here. So far I've only been using findagrave.com which can be surprisingly useful. I have a relative that was killed in WWII that I'm trying to find out more info about. Has anyone been successful in obtaining old military records? It seems they have to be requested from the archives in St. Louis.
  10. I laughed too hard at this.
  11. This was a good suggestion. Not sure how I never knew about this. Thanks for the suggestion.
  12. Doesn't this seem like the very thing that the ATF would ban on a whim?
  13. Oh I see. I thought he just wanted a new(to him) vehicle. I didn't realize he just wanted something for fun. In that case a Jeep makes sense.
  14. Have you looked at the often forgotten 1st Gen Tundra(2000-2006)? They don't turn many heads so most people don't notice them. Nearly un-killable V8 in a truck that's not much bigger than a Tacoma. This is the engine that has gone a million miles 2-3 times now. I see 3-4 near you for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The biggest issue on these is frame rust but being in the South you have a decent shot of finding one. For some reason they never got the cult following that the Tacoma did which means they are priced substantially less. If he wanted 4 full doors the were offered from 04-06. Add some bigger tires and better wheels and they start to look nice. Mine is an 02 Access cab. If he wants a manual trans they did offer them but not with the V8 and they are hard to find now.
  15. I would have a hard time paying almost $9k for a 21 year old Jeep with a 4 banger but I don't know what it's worth and they tend to hold their value. Was it rust free underneath? I find it odd they already had to replace the engine at 100k miles but it is a Jeep so....?Ultimately it's your call. Might be worth paying for a Carfax at least.
  16. What kind of Jeep? Wrangler?
  17. That's really neat. I've been trying to start some research but it's slow going. I'd like to do the DNA swab but don't really want to be in a database.
  18. @TGO David just wanted to follow up on this one. Wasn't sure if it got lost in all the madness the past few weeks. Do you know if this feature is gone? If it is, no big deal. If it isn't, let me know if I'm just missing it.
  19. I was actually thinking about this topic this morning. What could one possibly due to stop this?
  20. I don't know if he is an idiot but I would ask what is the point of flying the rebel flag inside the capitol? I bet he's feeling like an idiot while he sits in jail facing many years in prison.
  21. Agreed. I had a custom bumper made for my truck last year and they shipped it LTL via YRC. Watching the tracking was almost comical. When it finally arrived in Knoxville I had to go pick it up at their cross dock and I was shocked when they told me to walk across the dock while forklifts were driving around. That place was an OSHA nightmare.
  22. Man, it would have been really tempting to mess with him and say "I've been hired by Mr Soros to give you your mandatory COVID vaccine".
  23. Why am I experiencing Déjà vu?
  24. I heard them complaining about metal detectors but I'm not clear why they are angry about them. I was shocked they didn't have to go through them to begin with. Apparently everyone else does except for the lawmakers which sounds so typical of them. "Rules for thee but not for me".
  25. Sounds like you heard some news that wasn't true. Was this talk radio by chance?
