  1. I despise the mere existence of the ATF and think almost everything they do is illegitimate, however I'll let my hypocrisy show a little on these points: It's none of the AFT's business if I buy a gun for someone as a gift, but I do want it to be illegal to make straw purchases. I don't think every felony should keep someone from buying a gun, but I do want it to be illegal for violent felons to buy guns. I don't think smoking pot should keep you from buying a gun when people who drink alcohol are free to do so. I believe in "shall not be infringed", but I do want it to be illegal for crazy people, stalkers, and people with restraining orders against them to buy guns. I don't think illegals are entitled to any inalienable rights under our Constitution.
  2. I saw conflicting info about who the gun actually belonged to. The fact that it was kept in the parents' room seems to mean it was not "really" the kid's gun, yet they said it was a Christmas gift. If he took it without permission from his parents room, does that mean he stole it?
  3. I'm all for personal responsibility, consequences, prosecuting negligence, and gun safety. The texts beforehand about the ammo and stuff sounds like the same eye-rolling comment I'd make about liberal teachers overreacting if I thought my son was a normal, well-adjusted kid. I'm not sure I understand the timeline, but it sounds like both the school and the parents found out the same day that the kid needed help and it wasn't until the parents got home that they discovered the gun was missing. I just can't believe the kid wasn't sent home and nobody checked the backpack.
  4. I was perfectly happy with my LCP until the P365 came out. Now I only carry the LCP when I have on elastic waist band shorts.
  5. I just watched the trailer and I don't know how I missed that one. Looks like my kind of flick! Thanks.

    Heart attack

more prayers for a speedy recovery
  7. Does it count if I saved a bunch of scrap wood for several years in case I ever wanna have a fire?
  8. I watched a show about outlaw bikers and it said the ones w/ felony records couldn't carry any kind of weapon, so they carried wrenches, hammers, long screwdrivers, etc. instead. It kept them from catching a charge for carrying a weapon. I also like the idea I heard somewhere of carrying a bicycle chain with a padlock. I bet that lock would put a hitch in a bad guy's giddy-up.
  9. I couldn't possibly agree more! The law makes no sense whatsoever. I think we should be allowed to carry a morning star in one hand and a spiked club in the other...not kidding, nobody wants to get hit with a morning star.
  10. I also like the idea of saps and collapsible batons, but even if legal, I wonder at what point the choice of using less-than-lethal force becomes an even bigger lawsuit magnet than a firearm.
  11. My wife is an RN and she's had to stop at traffic accidents to see if she could render aid. It was rather inconvenient, but I see the intent and value lives over my personal schedule. On the other hand, I am not trained and often wonder if I could be sued for rendering aid incorrectly. The classic example is someone clutching their chest when choking and being given aid meant for a heart attack instead of choking.
  12. Careful here! In Kayla Giles case the prosecution and USCCA looked at her research history on the internet about her local laws and used that against her to claim she that proved she planned her shooting. Hard to believe, huh?
  13. Correct me, if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Good Samaritan law also protect untrained people who try to help from being sued?
  14. More mostly peaceful protesting....nothing to see here.
  15. You're right about that. It is expensive! I'm so glad the company paid when I went or I might not have ever ponied up the money to try it on my own.
  16. Our IT department had a team lunch at one of those trendy brewery/grill places that had axe throwing. I had a GREAT time! It's way even more fun than I imagined it would be and I'm happy to say I didn't see a single guy name Archer or Thayer with a man bun and logger jeans.
  17. I couldn't believe I somehow missed Sicario. So I was REALLY excited to watch it. It was awesome, but when I got to the end, I realized the famous border scene was missing. That's when I realized I watched the 2nd one first by mistake. So, I got excited all over again to watch the original, which was also great, but I actually liked the 2nd one more.
  18. Most .22LR ammo, especially bulk target ammo, is notoriously dirty. Nonetheless, my Ruger Mark II is VERY forgiving and can go 5 or 6 trips to the range w/out needing to clean the firing pin channel. My Mark IV 22/45 LITE is considerably more finicky. I can barely get a 333 rd box of cheap target rounds through it w/out needing to clean it. Luckily it's really easy to disassemble. My advice would be to order replacement springs from Ruger now, so you'll be ready in case a good cleaning doesn't fix the light strikes. I'd be really surprised if that doctored up gun doesn't have some springs that are too light. It's been my experience that lightened springs wear out way faster.
  19. yep, that's what happens at my house too
  20. I'd watch that, but my tv doesn't get CNN, LOL. JK, I'll ask the boss of the tv for permission to record it.
  21. A crack develops in the wall between Heaven and hell. God calls up satan and says, "the crack is on your side, so you have to pay to get it fixed". When he refuses, the Lord threatens to sue and the devil says, "you go ahead and try that, I have all the lawyers!"
  22. That's good looking rifle. At that price, I'd add a 3rd lever action .22LR to my collection.
  23. My bedroom, office, and mancave all have electronic door locks to keep everyone except my wife and I out. Additionally, in the rooms where I spend the most time with my grandson, all guns not on my person are locked up. He's accustomed to be being asked to leave the room while I lock the door behind us, even if I'm just going to go pee. Safety first, here.
