  1. I prefer them kind of places too, but those folks tend to go to be early and sometimes I gotta have a 10pm burger, LOL.
  2. I'm glad you mentioned hope and trust. No funeral is pleasant, but have you noticed a huge difference between the saved and unsaved at funerals. Jesus's teachings prepare us for the end our mortal life and for the end of our loved ones' mortal lives. I think that gives us peace in what's next and hope to go on. I can't imagine how much harder the grieving process would be without Him. The worst ones for me are when I know the deceased was lost and the family was saved.
  3. My grandson and I hit a deer on my motorcycle. We had slowed to avoid spooking her, but she ran ahead and darted across our path like she did it on purpose, LOL. Luckily, I was prepared and the only damage was a broken light bracket.
  4. What father doesn't dream of his daughter finding a man with a truck that nice. I bet he also has a good job, seldom asks to borrow tools, and doesn't watch anime cartoons.
  5. Nearby Perry County has a range near Linden. I've never been, so I'm not sure what you can shoot there. It may be a skeet/trap range for all I know. Regardless, I haven't shot at a state park or TWRA range that I didn't love, so I'd got to Natchez Trace Firing Range if I was out your way. I hope you find something you like and welcome to TN.
  6. Nothing shows how serious you are about your goals like keeping a scorecard.
  7. IMHO, the right philosophy is to get yourself armed as fast as possible with the best gun you can afford. Your life will NOT be in jeopardy if it's a $250 Taurus instead of a $500 <insert brand that will better impress us on the internet>. If you like guns, you'll eventually want to upgrade to something with features you like better, but for now I think you're making a solid choice on a solid firearm, which is better than waiting until you have 60-80% more money saved up.
  8. It's going to be really really hard to beat that price.
  9. Agreed, lesser of 2 evils. I will say, however, that the time to vote your conscience is in the GOP primary. The moderate/RINO seems to keep winning the big nominations instead of the conservatives.
  10. I don't believe there's enough suppressors and SBRs sold yearly for the tax revenue to be the reason it was removed. I don't believe the GOP ever expected it to pass from the get-go. I think they just put it in there to have a bargaining chip they were willing to concede on to get the rest of the bill passed. They only succeeded at making the Dems continue to look like the 2A enemies they are and they got to pose as our 2A allies for a few weeks.

  12. Wow, the summer of 1980 only seems a few years ago. Hard to believe how fast they sneak up on ya, huh? I work inside too. It sure does make going outside more painful. But, I don't know which is worse the heat or these millions of little black and white mosquitoes we have in my neck of the woods.
  13. You're right, the weather is about the same, but I'm getting old and I feel it more.
  14. I use the corded AXIL GS Extreme ear buds, which are really good too, but that cord behind your ear and around the back of your neck is a little complicated to put on. Since you can use foamies for both, I regret not ponying up for the XCORs instead.
  15. I opened the back door to let the dogs out and it felt like when you open the oven on Thanksgiving to take the turkey out and your glasses fog up, but w/out the good smell.
  16. Good advice above about not skimping. I hate shooting indoors, but when I do, I leave the electronic ear pro and the silicone plugs at home. The foam plugs that you roll up and let expand are the best in-ear protection I've found and passive over-the-ear cans beat all but the super expensive electronic ear muffs. I'd double up with both if there's rifles and indoors involved.
  17. I would not have considered the kid's mental state to be part of the definition of a nuclear family, just whether the parents and child live together in the same household.
