It will be at least a year before I can go down the 1911 road (next years tax refund) unless the economy picks back up a little .

 My XD9 was my favorite gun I have ever owned and to some level it still is. But Gunsablazin let me have a brief love affair with his Springfield 1911 and now I am in love with it . I gotta Have one . I don't think my life will be complete with out one .

The XD series does NOT have a mag safety it will fire without the mag in place . big warning in the owners manual as well . I own a XD9.

So after you you pitch camp cut firewood and cook dinner with it I guess all you really need is a latrine . I'm surprised they didn't cook pizza on it or go fishing with it.They did everything else

Sounds like hiding it might be the best option rather than a lock box .It would be very conspicuous and tempting to a would be thief to see a locked box tethered to some immobile object . And let a decent renters insurance policy cover any fire or theft issues. We are not talking about her containing a prized collection of antique or irreplaceable guns here we are talking about one home defense tool.

Why Won't the NRA Back a Third Party Candidate?
Mad_Squirrell replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree with you in theory but I see their point as well .They will rally behind the candidate that our organization will have the most influence in helping to support our cause. Instead of being diversified behind any and all supporters of 2nd amendment rights they can focus all their efforts rallying voters towards one candidate. That is more effective in keeping our freedom in tact by helping to get 2nd amendment supporter into office .I don't see it as a politicized tactic but focusing all the organizations energy to where it can be the most productive . Its better to have one bird in the hand than two in the bush. -
To "clear" your house, or hunker down.
Mad_Squirrell replied to Will Carry's topic in Training Discussions
One other scenario that I did not cover . If the family and I were out and came home to being robbed or in the process of .In no way shape form or fashion am I entering the house until our Trained uniformed public servants have done their duty. No sense in putting my self and family in danger if not necessary . I come home and family is inside and see something afoot different story .Totally different story I'll take my chances and put my total faith in my God to protect me while I wreak havoc on those that wish to do my family harm. -
So it looks like a loaf of bread some PB and J ,bag of chips and cooler full of your favorite soft drink would be in order seems like a lot of wait time before and after the instruction time before range time . Heck bring a grill and steaks might as well make a day of it .

Don't Know if its even possible but if some time in the future when he is financially able and after having been proven to be a responsible contributor to society hire an attorney and file to have his conviction expunged from the records so that his rights would be reinstated . Seems to me to be the only option he has left no mater how futile it may be . I whole heartedly agree that drug possession or use should never be considered a felony. That said he activly and knowingly contributed to the distribution of a controlled substance for profit albiet to feed his addiction he still benefited from the act. And I do feel that manufactured narcotics need to be controlled/restricted and illegal distribution should be criminalized . And because of the often very violent nature of the Drug distribuition world I believe that his conviction should be upheld .You yourself stated he was involved with gang memebers . The point being that we are responsible for our actions and he made a mistake that he will have to live with the rest of his life .Im sorry that his actions have consiquences that prevent him from legally obtaining a firearm .But he will ultimatley have to make the decision to abide by the law or not on this matter. I dont want convicted felons that engaged in potentially harmful activity voting or carrying guns . This topic goes WAY deeper than what we are scratching here on the surface . And we cannot do it justice in this limited amount of time and space .I hope that through his mistakes he can make a positive impact on others and wish him the best . Also I dont believe its a crime for him to be "around " Firearms i.e. going to a family cookout where his family owns firearms or even a gun show for that matter . But would be for him to have one in his residence and or in his possession even if its shooting yours .

I dont care what generation it is that has to be the ugliest darn gun i have ever seen!!!
-
He ain't kidding that is one sweet shooting pistol I need to get one of those now .Thanks for letting me shoot it .Shooting it was like smokin' crack .I'm hooked after the first time .
-
Sweet collection you have there Ernest !!! maybe you need another wheel gun to round out the collection like one of these
-
Why are you uncomfortable with pics of his daughters holding a gun .I was 4 the first time I shot a pistol and have been taught firearm safety ever since I could remember . My son was also 4 the first time I let him shoot a pistol . and he is one of the most responsible handlers of a firearm you will ever meet (hes 8 now BTW). He is real quick to point out to someone if they do not handle a gun safely in his presence . Education early is the key to safe behavior . It also makes me comfortable to know that he knows the ins and outs of a firearm and respects what it can do rather than him not know and do something stupid later when no one is looking .

Over 1000 rds through my XD9 since February not one malfunction .

Before I got off the phone I'd have gotten his name and Representative # then demanded to speak to his manager . All CS people at big companies that answer the phone read from a script and probably make about 8 bucks an hour and they dont give a crap about you . They get brownie points for getting the cust. off the phone without the company spending a dime . My wife worked in customer service at several different places and it was all the same help the bottom line ,up sale, de-escalate . sounds like dude just does not have what it takes for customer service .

I've declared WAR on carpenter bees . . .
Mad_Squirrell replied to enfield's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You guys are too much sounds like a new past time . Yall might be on to something marketable though. I can see it now "Bee shot" you might even hire some mall ninjas to be spokesman for the product . Have had and loved the electric tennis racket my lil brother liked it so much I gave it to him . Need to get me another. -
I've heard it only digests the high dollar stuff with any reliability and has a real problem with FTF issues, but I love the guns ergonomics. If they get the bugs out there may very well be one in my future .
