  4. Is the classifier shooting early? I may be able to make it if so. My wife will kill me if I skip out too late. My daughter is having a birthday party Saturday and my services are required for set up .......................on second thought nevermind I'm not risking the dog house again next time then .
  5. I did but you'll have to take my word for it ........He was using rifle rests/sandbags though. next time ill take pics if I see him at the range again.
  6. Mossberg 535 (hunting and SD)and my XD9(SD) my wife will carry my Ruger MKIII for taking small game if necessary.
  7. Dad and I were up at the range this past Sunday and a fella had an old ROTC training rifle (Kimber) .22lr single shot but he had a BSA scope on top of it and was shooting 1/2 " groups with it at 100 yds .The moral of the story you don't need a Zeiss or Leupold to shoot tight groups . I also agree with the bolt action you will be more inclined for the thrill of an accurate shot instead of the thrill of sending a lot of lead down range quickly.
  8. Superhuman Quick Draw Skills Video like this ?
  9. ive seen that HSM stuff around is it any count? always been scared of reman ammo.
  10. Kinda reminds me of my Mom . We all went to the range one day my mother oddly went with us said she wanted to shoot her little .22 beretta that dad bought her .We must have had 10 different guns out there. She shot a magazine worth sat it down and said "I wanna shoot that one!!!", and pointed at dads raging bull .44 mag. We all laughed and so did dad he loaded it for her handed it to her and she drove tacks with it at 25 yds shut us up real quick .
  11. Most times robberies are snatch and grab . The smart /professional thieves wait for you to leave then clean you out .Home invasions have other sinister deeds in mind . Those are the ones that scare me where I know if they enter my home I will have to use deadly force to stop the invasion . Im not going to sit quietly and wait for them to come in my room while my kids are in another room . Their safety is my #1 priority .I feel if I do not exhaust all resources at my disposal to protect them then I have been negligent and have failed my first duty as a parent (even if it means losing my life in their defense) .All wild animals protect their young as their first and foremost priority .Mess with my young'ns and just see how wild I can get .
  12. It can be a real ez mistake to make he said he had not checked the sighting on his rifle at all that year its highly possible it was already loaded he then may have double loaded it by mistake . Maybe he was in a hurry to get out and hunt and didn't pay attention to how far his ram rod was going down the barrel My brother has left his muzzle loader loaded once or twice but at least he was smart enough to gauge the depth of the rod before adding more powder and a bullet .
  13. M&P gets my vote
  14. The reason is the slide only has one rail/rod as mgjohn stated . the action and barrels are the same as the 500.If I'm not mistaken the safety is located on the trigger guard on the Maverick rather than on top like the Mossberg. I was given one as Christmas present after they first came out back when I was in high school. Great gun the forearm just flexes a lil because of the single rail it never had a problem lots of dove and crow taken with that gun a few clays too.
  15. I agree its the third Marlin I've owned over the years but they don't make a 50 round mag for it ,or folding stocks, or more importantly match grade upgrades .such as this Still trying to talk dad out of the old marlin lever action .22 he has.It is the first rifle I ever shot. I love that gun. Not that I think owning a .22 for around 2 grand is what I would want but at least the option is there . So basically what I am trying to say is when you buy a Marlin you get a Marlin great guns but with a 10/22 your options later are wide open.
  16. (this picture will be deleted soon) As you can see from the hall way I have a defensive position for all main points of entry from the back door in the laundry to the front door in the living room. I will be able to clear my childrens rooms and get them to safety in my room while maintaining cover. We have a 3 stage early warning system Trixie the mighty (LOUD) Chihuahua.MAX the Springer Spaniel old but barks every time she does. Colby the trusty Golden Retriever. Hates new people My wife armed in the Master Bedroom And me holding defense with the PO-PO on the phone If for some reason a break in happens originating from the kids rooms darn right I'm clearing THAT room otherwise im holding a defensive position in the hallway . If the BG's are in the house already and the children have not had the opportunity to come to my bed room the kids are under instruction to lay flat on the floor and be quiet unless the BG's enter their rooms then they are to scream loudly then I will be forced to confront the intruder .
  17. I'm gonna bridge the gap on the argument of detail stripping causing harm or not. If the mechanical device is stripped down and cleaned regularly no harm will be done other than the possibility of losing or breaking things in the disassembly/reassembly .But a mechanical device that goes through long periods of use then is disassembled /reassembeld using the same parts problems can emerge. Over time moving parts wear to the amount of sludge or dirt build up surrounding those parts if then the machine is broken down ,cleaned then put back together the parts will fit together more loosely thereby creating increased slop between them which thru continued useage afterwards accelerates the wear. So you guys that detail strip in regular intervals your fine . But if you buy a used pistol thats had thousands of rounds through it and never had been detail stripped leave it alone clean as much as you can without fooling with all the intricate stuff otherwise you might just be rebuilding it sooner than later. Hope this clarifies a lil'
  18. I have a Marlin model 60 and wish I'd bought the 10/22 instead not that the Marlin is a bad gun its a great rifle ,just the upgrades are endless for the Ruger . Trust me once you get the bug you will want to upgrade or trade up . Just google Ruger 10/22 accessories and you will see what I mean.
  19. Great deal The XD's only come with two mags from the factory. A extra mag costs 30 bucks sweet deal man you wont be disappointed.
  20. When I was doing my new gun search this past February I had narrowed my search down to the PT111 and the newer style 709 I had just about decided on the PT111 until the guy behind the counter said if I really like the Taurus I oughta look at the XD SUB Compact . As I compared the two the first thing was their profile was almost Identical width /length but when I took the gun apart that's where the differences really showed .A plastic Guide rod is in the Taurus not steel was the first thing I noticed a whole lot looser in the action as well .the trigger was not as crisp as the XD either So I decided to stew on it for a while I Did a lot of digging and research and found not one good review about the Taurus .I've had experiance with Taurus revolvers and have shot a friends model 145 several times and have always liked the guns but after reading complaints about how horrid their customer service was including the back log on repairs for the millenium series of pistols . and How I read absolutely everything great on the XD series . I decided to to Pony up the extra dough and buy the XD I decided on the 4" service model . once I stepped up in price I also considered the Glock but the backstrap safety and the 1911 grip angle won the decision . I've put over 700 rounds from 4 different manufactures through my XD since the last weekend in febuary and not one hiccup ever. Vantoo given the choices the Glock or the Kahr would be the best. But from a prejudiced point of view I would urge you to consider the XD or better the XDm
  21. Capbyrd I appreciate the come back I'll let him know that the fix is EZ. My Dad, older brother ,and myself all three have MK series pistols my brother owns the mark I just like in memphismasons picture and it is remarkably accurate you can make spent shot shells dance all day long with it at 20 yds . My Dads MKII and my MKIII both have the bull barrel . I plan on taking mine Squirell hunting this fall espcially after I put a red dot on it . Might even consider trying out steel challange down at Dodds this summer . I like shooting my MKIII maybe as much if not more than my XD.
  22. Me and my lil brother have heard my dads crow and owl tape so much as kids I can mimic the owl sound darn near perfect and he can do the crow screech. all our kids thank we are idiots until 15-20 crows fly over and land in the trees looking for the action. I have to admit we do kinda look/sound ridiculous .
  23. Don't be afraid of the 3.5" mag shells either when the adrenaline is pumpin you'd think it kicks like a .410 I use federal mag -shok with flite control 3.5" mag shells in #5 shot with xx-full choke good pattern at 30-35 yds great at 25 yds.
  24. Was it difficult to install or did you have a Smith install it my dad seems to be having FTE issues with his MKII I think that extractor might just solve his problem .
