Mad_Squirrell replied to Sidewinder's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I did a lil diggin and found a guy in texas that repairs those rifles .....a repair kit is NOT available . here is his contact info George Pena heligun1@msn.com or 512-863-2951. I don't know if the email or phone number is good I found the info from an old blog dated back in 2006 you might could check with this guy i found he was recommended as recently as last year John Groenewold, PO Box 830, Mundelein, IL 60060-0830, (847) 566-2365 A full service airgun parts and repair business, specializing in Crosman, Benjamin, Sheridan, and Daisy. hope this helps -
My Limbsaver (also a slip on) added about 1.5-2" to the stock, but I have long arms. It made it the perfect length for me . If your gun has a built in pad on the rear you could remove it to keep from adding too much to your stock length.

The Charger is basically the Ruger 10/22 rifle with a pistol grip and short barrel . It's more gimmicky than anything but would consider it a fun long distance/ rodent gun. I own the MkIII 22/45 . Ive put over 2000 rounds through it since I bought it used in February its been a great gun .Dad owns the the p22 its fun can't say much else for it best we can get out of it accuracy wise 3-4" groups at 25 yards . You would definitely be serviced better with the Ruger MK series or Buckmarks these pistols are accurate enough for small game hunting as well . as an added note some the Ruger MK III's come pre drilled and tapped for a scope and include a weaver base .

tailgaters suck I drive a truck for a living and the best way to get rid of em is to back off the accelerator and slowly decrease your speed they will get out from behind you soon enough. If they tell you your number one just smile and wave . and for a public service announcement dont ever "draft" a big truck ever seen those recaps laying on the side of the road if one goes while your behind it it could be the last thing you see 30lbs of rubber coated steel coming through your windhield can really mess up your day .

"In Tennessee, it is illegal to harm, kill, remove from the wild, or possess native snakes taken from the wild without the proper permits." It seems that "in the wild" or "from the wild" is what the intention of the law is .Not from your yard or in your garden. Also if I am camping and a snake is in my tent it's a dead snake sorry.Just on the trail I'll leave it alone .

just in case your not kidding if you like turkey or chicken you'll like squirrel or rabbit. cook it the same way and you cant go wrong.

i used too but its more fun with open sights on a .22 plus no lead to chip a tooth on with a head shot .

I haven't played games on my pc in forever so I dare say I am way behind the times .I gave up on pc games when my wife bought me a call of duty game about three years ago for my birthday and my brand new computer was too weak to get anything on the game but the intro movie to play. Now I just play stuff on consoles .I do still long or a smokin' machine with a kick butt graphics card . I'm envious of yall's "techno mojo" I'm not worthy

Haven't shot the RWS stuff yet 14.99 a box at my Wal-mart but have to agree the federal champion is the stuff I like the best.

I'm using this if you don't mind.

I carry an old timer 3 blade folding I used to carry a S&W with a half serrated blade. Never again will I trust that little slide lock thingy instead of a true lock back. I guess all can fail but when it closed on my middle finger while cutting/sawing the side of a cardboard box and the combined over reaction of me slinging the knife off my my hand left my finger filleted from the first joint up with the tip hanging off by piece of skin . I put that knife away permanently.

In your instance I think you are legally justified in making arrests/detaining but to the average "No gun barney fife" that I was affectionately called if I recall on more than one occasion. we were there just to Observe and Report.
-
I respect your profession and I also worked for two different private security firms in Chattanooga for approximately 5 years combined. and in almost all instances unarmed security guards are primarily for a insurance break to the owner of the establishment .Legally speaking as a private security officer you can detain someone until the authorities arrive but cannot forceably place them under arrest ,physically restrain or imprison them . You can forceably remove someone from the premises if necessary but you cannot arrest them. But can make them believe that they have to comply with your detention peaceably till the authorities arrive .What your legal rights and company regulations allow you to do are two different things as well . Some posts depending on their primary purpose and function are restricted from entering into an altercation with someone. That is not to be confused with confrontation mind you . If they witness a crime in action tough they are in most instances are to observe and immediately report the incident to give the proper authorities accurate information and not confront them . In some instances they are allowed to inform them that they are trespassing. Most security officers should be deemed as watchmen more than officers but it does sound more official. I'm not speaking of armed bank guards or armored car personnel they also do not have the right to forceably arrest ,but can use deadly force if the threat emerges. I also underwent the training and certification to be "licensed" as a security officer But were not legally able to physically restrain someone unless they were an immediate threat to themselves or others . There was a distinct difference in the terminology between peaceably detain and making a forceable arrest

I guess because it would fall under the "common use" category since machine guns are solely intentioned for military functions and that would not be considered to be "common use" .But realize that they did not ban ALL MG's only new ones manufactured after 1986 therefore they can talk out of both sides of their mouths saying they are not for control but are . This is the argument that the left is using now VS. handguns stating that handguns were only intended for military and police personnel. But you and I everyone here know that is a farce .Most Gentlemen carried a pistol for his and others defense since their inception.Only Ladies carried concealed .

If you see an unarmed security guard they are there for one primary reason with only simple functions and authority . The reason is Insurance. Their liability premiums go down with an unarmed security guard. They go up if they have an armed guard(again liability issues). The guards primary responsibilities are for making sure the people are correctly parked not blocking fire lanes or driveways etc .,look for signs of forced or illegal entry , find safety hazards , and direct the flow of people in the event of an emergency . Other wise all they do is observe and report. They are not to get into an altercation with someone. If the person does not comply with simple commands then they are required usually to call the police to deal with the issue . Usually armed guards are private police officers or campus police and have full rights to make an arrest and are authorized to use deadly force if necessary by the state . Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga has a police dept . that handles security for them .So does the state run college campuses.

As a side note almost all accessories for the Moss. 500 will fit the maverick 88. barrels, stocks, forearms, chokes etc. I had one of the first ones years ago thousands of rounds through not one problem ever. I shot skeet with it for fun and it was my primary field gun for hunting as well. You cant go wrong with it . Great gun for the money .
-
I can't speak for buck shot from a 3.5" mag but the Lightfield slugs hurt bad even with a limbsaver recoil pad . I use 3.5" for turkey hunting . The first time I shot the gun I didn't hold the forearm well enough and it jumped out of my left hand and made my right hand hit me and broke my nose . If you haven't shot a 3.5" you oughta try it at least once .If you don't know someone with one just have a friend hit you in the shoulder with a sledge hammer same difference. Ballistics lightfield 3.5" slugs 600gr .78cal velocity @muzzle 1890 fps energy @ muzzle 4759 ft lbs

I agree as well an over/under is in the plans for myself in the future, but I'm not going to settle it will be a good one, so I'll patiently wait. Shooting clays with a pump gun is a great way to increase your field skills . Where else can you guarantee a bird will fly by.
-
It seemed by your first post that you wanted a gun for double duty that's why I suggested the extra barrel .I don't know what your budget is but that's the most economical route . Like I said earlier the Maverick 88 shotguns($200 Ball park ) are almost Identical to the Mossburg 500 minor differences I have owned both and the Maverick was a great gun and it accepts the Mossburg barrels.
-
Yes! but that barrel you listed is rifled You need to look else where unless you want to shoot slugs only. You need to buy a gun with the standard barrel length in 26"-28" inch length (most common and cheaper too ) and then find a smooth bore barrel in about 18 3/4" for home defenseAmazon.com: Mossberg Matte Blue Cylinder Bore Barrel w/Front Bead Sight Md: 90015 .: Sports & Outdoors . You don't need a scope for home defense or shooting clays .
-
Barrels for the Mossberg are affordable and easy to change get one with a 26"-28" barrel for starters and then get a cylinder bore short barrel for home defense you can have the best of both worlds . You don't need all the fancy stocks and stuff to have a good reliable home defense shotgun . Also consider a Mavrick(cheaper) they are made by Mossberg and accept the barrels suited for Mossbergs as well. for about 350 bucks give or take you would have both a field gun and home defense gun . you can buy fiber optic sights that mount on shot guns as well wally world may have em and I know bass pro or gander mountain would.

The OP stated the scenario in which he lost his rights . Is the reason this debate has gone on so long . Prohibition does not work so therefore people made criminals because of the law distribute them because of the demand .criminals fighting over territory (mostly gangs) is why people get killed over it . Prohibition limits the distribution through illegal channels thereby hyper inflating the cost and profit margins . Not that I advocate drug use . but they should be made legal at least for possession .Or reduce the penalties to fines with no jail time . But pertaining to the situation of the original poster because of the way the laws of the land work as of right now because of the high amount of violence in the drug world and the atmosphere of selling and pushing to kids you cant tell me that dealing drugs is a victimless crime had your friend been nailed for possession alone I would have a different opinion . I think after time and proven not to be a user anymore he should have his rights re instated but since he chose to pedal them with of all people a known gang member why on earth knowing all the facts would anyone think he should have his rights back . he chose to take it to the next level he went from user to distributor . So now he is forced to make a decision does he continue to comply with the current law no matter how unfair it seems to be or does he become a habitual criminal offender .The line in the sand has to be drawn somewhere .He has already crossed it once .Now he has an obligation to uphold the law and accept the consequences for his actions .
