  1. Not unless someone brings it to their attention!
  2. If I was in the officers shoes I would have disarmed and unloaded the gun before returning it as well. How many times have we seen video of officers at a traffic stop and everything go smoothly at the beginning and then erupt into a serious violent encounter towards the end of the stop . He was issuing a ticket and that alone could have been the straw that broke the camels back between civility and an insane reaction albeit probably not with the OP's wife ,but the officer doesn't know that . The act of unloading the gun puts more reaction time in favor of the officers safety . It is not personal but it is safe behavior. If I am at the range and someone I do not know wants to see my gun I have no problem that person handling my gun nor do have any reason to suspect that person has a reason to harm me ,but in the interest of safety I will completely unload the gun and hand it to them completely disabled from fire .Expecting an officer not knowing how to handle your gun is unreasonable thought .It is not rocket science to remove a magazine and clear the chamber especially a revolver .To be honest I'd have had more problem with them laying my gun down on a hard surface and scratching it if I was carrying a nickle plated sissy pistol than I would them unloading it . The running of the serial #'s must be SOP if more than one gun is found in the car . What if the scenario was totally different and it had been one of us going to a TGO shoot somewhere and we had decided to bring every gun we own and ammunition for each . For some of us that would have been a whole trunk load. Running the #'s would be SOP I'm sure. It's all about reasonable suspicion and more than likely policy when encountering more than one gun per person/suspect. The Officer did not violate her rights at all she Volunteered her information so she temporarily surrendered her rights to the officer to conduct his investigation .Had she not surrendered her permit and kept quiet and the officer asked to search her car and she politely refused and he did any way without a search warrant then her rights would have been violated .
  3. It looked sharp that .50 cal had the same bullet that's in the .50BMG In a subsonic package I wonder just how quiet it really is with the suppressor on it .The AR was a select fire version with a suppressor as well.
  4. Yeah we will leave the stock youth sized I had to do some finishing to the stock and butt plate to get it just right so the rest of the stock is now landfill material .I found a Dragunov sniper style stock to replace it later for about $37 to fuel his evil black rifle lusts later when he out grows it .
  5. Will be sighting in the scope tomorrow!!
  6. Well here is the finished product . The last pic shows how much I cut off . Used a Hack Saw to cut off and an orbital sander to true up the wood had to use a dremel on the butt plate to get it even . Took about an hour or so I guess . What you think ?
  7. i see your point . I apologize for commenting on my misunderstanding of the intent of your post.
  8. Our constitution was written by Thomas Jefferson while he himself was not a Christian but a Deist respected and agreed with the Teachings of Christ and the ethical and moral code of the scriptures. He lived by them as well .So to say that it was just some ingrained humanistic respect for basic morals is just plain false .The influence of the Bible strongly fashioned who Thomas Jefferson was and the liberties that are afforded to man by God illustrated in the scriptures were what he was trying to convey in the writing of our sacred documents. The men that signed the Declaration of Independence were also driven by these principles .
  9. In respect to abortion. My personal belief is that it is a human life at the point of conception . It is most definitely a human life when there is a heartbeat and therefore from that point on abortion should be criminalized. In no part of Roe Vs. Wade is abortion discussed or mentioned . Our laws were based on a moral code and a belief in a creator "GOD" the varying religious aspects put aside . That said the 2nd amendment is the gaurdian of the bill of rights .And affords the people the ability to right a government that has gone wrong .You cannot be pro America and not support that amendment . The bill of rights, our Constitution is not a living document that changes with time it is an absolute. It should be read and interpreted with the modicum of thought with respect to the meaning of the language used in the time it was written. Any politician that takes a vow to uphold the Constitution(and all of them do when the are sworn in to office) and then votes in some fashion that circumvents it.2nd Amendment or any other .Should be tried for treason .
  10. I appreciate the comebacks, the model 60 is a fairly common rifle so I should be able to find a stock for it later if needed. When I asked him this year if he would like a rifle for his own he said sorta (hesitantly) and said whats the matter he said " Dad I don't just want any rifle I want yours" . I asked him "one just like mine" he said "No I want yours" I again asked "why? I am quite fond of that rifle." He replied "because It's yours and its the one you taught me to shoot with" .Well that just made me heart melt a little and since he said in the past that he liked shooting my brothers rifle with the scope that he wished I put a scope on mine to make it more fun to shoot .So we will be cutting the stock down today .I'll post before and after pics . Mike I stewed on what you said and I believe that with the angle of the cut and the fact that it looks like I'm going to have to cut into the cheek piece. I think It will be a permanent modification. Great Idea though! I will be studying your suggestion when I start taking measurements to see if it will still be possible. If I cut and have to adjust the angle after the initial cut that may or may not work .
  11. I gave my 9yo my marlin .22 today for his birthday I mounted a scope on it and have a problem. With the scope mounted as far back as possible the eye relief is still to far for him. so I am left with a decision to permanently alter the guns stock(shorten it) .It has a Monte Carlo type stock I figure I can take approx. 3" of the stock without getting into the raised portion on the stock. I'm a lil' nervous about this modification . Cause once I do it there is no turning back . Has anyone else done this type of modification and made it possible to re-attach the removed portion at a later date when he grows into it .I guess I'am looking for a little advice on the matter .I'm not buying him a different gun. It's this or nothing .
  12. I was at a friend of mines gun store today and a vendor was in there showing off his custom wares he had an AR rifle chambered in a custom round .338 sub-sonic said it was fully capable of .5"MOA the cartridge is not commercially available and must be custom made it was a .223 round with the neck cut off and a .338 bullet put in the case I dont know all the ballistics . I believe this is the company Custom gunsmithing and Gatling Guns from BWE Firearms and here are the two guns he was showing off .50 thumper .338 thumper
  13. Hrmmm very interesting . will have to keep this handy trick in mind. so like a 6lb test fishing line or would you need smaller?
  14. Curious as to how this works? Please explain further.
  15. Try Sportsman's Warehouse in Chattanooga that's where I bought mine if you are looking for new. I have the XD9 4" service model with the XD gear extras: mag pouch, holster, speed loader, hard shell case ,& two 16 rnd mags . It was $489 before taxes and background check .I think it was $449 for just the gun and two mags.
  16. My dad has a Beretta Bobcat in.22 I cannot hit anything with it at any substantial distance (dad always likes to shoot his pistols from the 25 yd line at the rifle range )when he went up to the club house to use the restroom while he was gone I put about 50 rds downrange at a clay pigeon on the target board never hit it. he came back shot it first time then Turned the pieces into dust with it . That my friend was lesson in total humility. I can shoot all day long pretty well with my ruger .22 MKIII but couldnt hit the broadside of the proverbial barn with that bobcat.
  17. My Dad has one we finally took it out to the range a couple of weeks ago great shooting gun . New out of box it had one FTE and that was like the 3rd round through (I think dad was limp wristing ) I shot four mags worth through it not one malfunction .It since has had 200+ rounds through it not one malfunction since . If the gun was not so thick for my short fat fingers I would consider one for myself.
  18. I came real close to sending you a pm but remembered why I bought my XD9 in the first place . My advice Keep the XD45 and buy a XD9 for fun. Id much rather have the .45 for my carry gun . Ammo power difference ......well lets put it like this would you rather be hit by a semi truck going 65 mph or a motorcycle at 80 .I wouldn't want to be hit by either but I bet my chances would be better with the Motorcycle.
  19. Jack beat me to it MIG welding it should do the trick any local body shop or muffler shop should have the equipment you might just get out by buying someone a 12 pack of beer and make a good friend in the process . Like Jack said metal the same thickness/grade for him to practice on would be a plus it would suck if he burned through the steel on your mags.
  20. Me too I was beginning to think it was some sort of device that attached to it if you ran out of boolits
  21. This thread is too much!!! Can I have one with Mithryl Silver accents just to warn me when orcs are approaching?
  22. Same here I wish they still made it. Big reliable power in a small package .
  23. Make sure you got a camera kept handy as well. Next time he pulls up in the drive way or in front of your place snap his pic with a camera using film if possible if you don't have a high mega pixel (10-12) digital for the best quality photo you can get without getting too close . Get his tag number. file your complaints with the authorities like others have said .If this dude keeps coming around hes going to get bolder and eventually he wont be asking you to get in the car .
  24. Dad got one in a trade a few months back it was old beat up and ugly shoots really well He carries it fishing, in his words "it shoots good enough and if I drop it in the lake I ain't out nothing"
