  1. I went this morning and called in 6 jakes. I wish older birds was that easy. I let'em walk to see hopefully another year.
  2. Congratulations Shaun. I'm gonna try for number 3, tomorrow or this weekend. I'd like to get all mature birds too. I could've killed 2 jakes over the weekend.
  3. Gonna try it in the morning. They've not been gobbling all that great the last week or so. We'll see. Its still better than settin' at home.
  4. I saw one this evening but, couldn't get him to come closer than about 80 yards. To far for the shotgun.
  5. Set up on this morning that was gobbling his head off but, when he flew down he went the opposite direction. He was still gobbling his head off at every call I made. Some toms have a place that they just want to go.
  6. They didn't gobble good for me this morning. I did hear a few but they  would only gobble at owls. Later up in the morning about 10:30 I was covering some ground crow calling, yelping, and cutting trying to locate one and walked right up on a nice longbeard and ................ ran him off.
  7. What caliber and load did you use? Great shot by the way.
  8. Hopefully I'll hear several on the roost, Saturday. Last weekend I didn't hear many on the roost early. But, I didn't hear many hens either. Good luck to everybody.
  9. Congratulations Whisky. Who got the other bird? What shotgun have you got there?
  10. I managed to get one Sunday morning at 10:15.  I was getting ready to go home and tried my wingbone and got one to gobble at about 100 yards. I set up quick and called 2 longbeards in at about 40 yards. I killed the one in front. 19 1/2 lbs., 10 1/2" beard, 1" spurs. Sorry I don't have a pic. Camera wasn't working right.
  11. Mexico also has a species called a Gould's. Most people don't even try for it though. Just my 2 pennies.
  12. Wow! I'm glad to see that some of you have killed some great birds. Still no luck with me so far. I've usually got one or two by now.....................
  13. Congratulations to Shaun and anybody else that's killed one. I've still not had one to come in close enough yet. I've heard a bunch though.
  14. Looks like a good'un to me. Congratulations. I've not don any good yet. Heard several though on the roost but, seem to be henned up bad.
  15. Yeah, Yesterday was a bust for me. I did hear several birds though. Today was pretty windy and cold. I needed to get in by 10:00 this morning and didn't really get to hang around to see if they was gonna fire back up.
  16. I probably heard 15 birds this morning but, I probably heard about 12-15 hens too. After fly down all the gobblers shut up and I don't know where they went. I stayed till about 7:30 then the rain set in. Might have been a good morning at about 10:00 if the rain hadn't been pouring down.
  17. Looks like you got a good one. Mine shoots good but, it won't win any beauty contests.
  18. I don't really have as much as I'd like but, I'm ok for a while. More bullets than primers right now.
  19. The RBCD stuff is pretty fast. Light bullets at high velocity. Check out the velocity of the .50 BMG.
