got a direct link, I want to share this with some people in Oak Ridge but don't want to just post the complete text.  They won't read it.

My wife got a call the other day on her cell phone. They informed her it was a political poll but when she said she was a republican they didn't want to ask her any questions.  Said it was a poll for Democrats.   I bet I can guess that they got the results they wanted.

Driving back form Nashville today on I40 just west of Cookville, I saw something I haven't seen in a long time.  I saw a State trooper on the side of the road with his lights on.  After I moved to the left lane, I saw it didn't appear to be a traffic stop but more of offering assistance.   Hopefully this is more common then my impression, but I saw a state trooper on the side of the road giving assistance to another motorist.   I saw the Hoods of both cars up and what appeared to be a heavy gauge booster cables running between the 2 vehicles.   Even though It wasn't, it could have just has easily been my wife or myself.   So I just want to say thinks to the State Trooper just in case he/she happens to be a member here.

That is my thought, Fish in the barrel.   I would rather have to explain why I was outside and alive then be evidence in at a trial.

Considering my location to the stairs, to my truck, unless shots ring out form that direction I am going that way.

Something that has been on my mind lately.   Keep in mind, I see this as unlikely but still prefer to have a plan of action.   At work, they have a Shelter in place plan that is the same for natural vs man made disaster.  I have no doubt that if there was an active shooter situation they would call for everyone to go to the SIP location which only 2 locations in the whole building.   For me, the shelter in place calls for me to leave my area and go down 1 floor into a hallway that you can only access via security badges.  My badge won't open that door so I would be completely dependent on someone at the door to let me in.  During Drills they always have someone there.  (I don't expect the brave management types to be that brave during an actually emergency).   I agree with the plan in the event of say a tornado.   However if there is an active shooter, I would no want to go to the hall way.   I believe I would take another route which is about equal distance from my seat to an emergency stairwell  at the end of the building.  It is not locked from the inside, the only locks prevent someone from getting in.  You can exit all day long any day or night. I normally park on the end of the building and use it as a means of leaving the building almost daily anyways so it is a path i know well.   Thoughts?  Go with the Corp. Plan and SIP or try to make an escape? I have pretty well made my mind up, I am going for the escape to get outside.  If there is a shooter in the building, I want to be on the outside.   Odds are unless shooting started directly near me, I would have enough time to go to that stairwell, especially if people are following the funnel to the SIP location. There are only about 10 offices between me an that Stairwell, plus 2 paths to it vs the SIP location only has 1 real path from my location due to a choke point.    

What is with all this going into public schools?   Separation of Church and State?  Anyone in government heard of that?

I have been there, it was a pretty open environment.  I don't see an issue having kids with you there.  Plus they don't give you enough to get toasted. I took all their samples, plus samples as a near by wine place and sugar land.  I stayed totally fine.

When it was a Park, the CIty used no guns in parks to say they where not allowed there. Later when that was over turned, they claimed it was not a park.   I have also read in some drug cases they have said in court that was a park.

Didn't read everything, mostly just OPs first post. I would let her visit based on the first post.  Plus at 14 she should be old enough to know there are consequences for certain mistakes.  It might help keep her out of trouble later in life.

Seems to be falling out of the news quickly as it turns out to be a 26 year old Muslim shooter. I totally tuned this out yesterday as I knew the talking heads were just shouting theories yesterday with no proof.  I don't want to want talking head soap operas.  I expected the story to change several times before any real information would be available.   The news and anti's where hoping for a semi normal person that snapped, however they got a Muslim shooter so they are now wanting to bury the news story with nothing to see here.     That is why I am late to even post in this thread.   Now the news barely even wants to cover the story of Chris Mintz.  I bet he doesn't get invited to the White House for a meet and greet with Obama.

For getting around Nashville from Hotels I use a company called Monarch Transporters.  They will pick you up at Most hotels that I know of take you down down, (about 2 blocks from Boardway and pick you up later).  Round trip 10 dollars per person.
